JsMum Report post Posted March 14, 2007 Well its nearly a year since J has been at his school and tonight we had a parents evening and its was all really positive feedback and encouraging news to be reasured they are looking after Js needs they say he doing really well and achieving some progress especailly science, even though his behaviour can be complex they say he actually enjoys the subject and experiements. They have concerns over english ability and has extra support and they are addressing this as he is struggling with reading and actual writing, he writes neat but just wont do any. They have addressed the difficulties that J has with social interaction and he is given understanding and extra clubs to attend to develop social rules. His teacher said that he is very pleased with his willingness in some subjects but concerned about the actual understanding he has when it comes to mental maths and work that requires sustained attention he just is very reluctant to even try. He is aware more of the real difficulties J has and supports him with reading and writing and is supported by LSA and is happy with the amount of hours 1-1 he recieves as he does want J to start to develop independant skills which are showing throw at different times of the day. overall he is very happy with J and said he just needs understanding with the issues J has to deal with on a daily basis. So some progress, some things are on going with reguards Js Learning ability and there is potential for J in some areas for sats especailly science and maybe a small chance Maths with interpreters. He wont be able to access the english side of it as he cant read, spell and write independantly so they are working with J on this one to one. I am very pleased and very relieved that J is in a really supportive education. JsMum
