sesley Report post Posted December 1, 2008 at least getting the diagnosis , you will get the statement and the funding for his support needs and for you too, make sure you get DLA too, filling in the forms are hard going, you have to put the worst in the questions and its hard trying to describ and explain to the DLA people that autism is for life ,but it its worth it in the end. its good to know the reasons why the behaviour is and why, it answers a lot of questions for you. dooday24 Report post Posted December 1, 2008 hi sesley hi we already get dvla for reece we had to fight for it and go to a tribuneral but we got it in the end, we r fighting for a statement at moment as the e.p says hes not far enough behind at the mo. even though hes at a 4 and and a half yr old level how far behind does he need to be boohoo love donnaxxxx
fallgyrl Report post Posted December 1, 2008 Well done you. Its hard work banging heads together but worth it in the end. Keep fighting for that statement though, your lad doesnt need to be behind academically, mine certainly isnt, but AS kids still face huge obtacles in the school environment through lack of socialisation, understanding instructions and the like, all of which can put their education at risk. Hopefully with diagnosis will come more understanding and assistance Vicky
