  1. Hi Peeps, Am rocking out to Coheed & Cambria's "Apollo" (too long to write) which was an Anniversary present from the hub-a-tola. For any rockers/metalheadz, check out these baby clothes:- http://www.makeamos.com/newd5.html
  2. AH, I've spent the last couple of minutes laughing about the sealed down envelope flaps ... not heard that one before, but I will use it. and agreed ... woo hoo for push up bras!

    So sad...

Exactly. About 6 months after my Dad died, I was sitting by the river on my lunchbreak from work and saw a man walking towards me down the tow path ... he walked the same, looked the same as my Dad, same type of clothes - everything. As he got closer he looked less like him (thankfully). But it made me think, and it made me sad ... but then I thought about all the good stuff about my Dad, our little injokes etc and I was soon sitting there by myself laughing like an idiot.
  4. Helloween - oh wow nostalgia, you'll be bringing out the Cinderella and Twisted Sister next. Dee Snider ... the only guy who ever looked better with his bad make up slapped on. Shudder, he's ugly! Liberation Transmission, Lostprophets ... if the rumours are true about Auriel going back to college, I shouldn't have to take any flack for saying that.
  5. Blow ... ... can you hold back from saying it??
  6. Had to laugh, had visions of Ken done up like a pimp, fur coat, hat, long pinky finger nail, gold tooth (or maybe the full grill) ... driving around in one of those cars that bumps up and down with his stereo pounding out. Poor old white trash Barbie ... her hair has lost its lustre, she's all bloated up, she has acne, a serious habit ... damn, where did it all go wrong for her? Sindy's revenge??
  7. Ha ha ha. I remember a few years ago, when my niece had a Barbie, I was shocked at some lingerie she had (Barbie that is), stockings, sussies the lot, little see through robe etc. No wonder Ken had that smirk on his face! I suppose they are running out of ideas, they will probably have her smoking a crack pipe next.
  8. Oh lordy, don't mention wotsits and fanta on here, all those food colourings etc, you will get lynched by half of the Mums on here for even suggesting it ever happened. No CD's listened to since the last one, due to the Pooh's Heffalump Movie DVD being on ... but I did just listen to a load of old metal ringtones ... I could have done better on my kids xylophone!
  9. Ten by Pearl Jam ... ... saw Eddie Vedder at Reading festival last week sporting his long hair and beard ... I go for the "Jesus" type so I was a bit weak at the knees to say the least!
  10. Honey Sounds like she could be on her way to being a savant - who knows. She sounds like a remarkable child. I never know how to get the right balance with my son ... I try and avoid teaching him any new subjects just so he can get on with being a child, but he seems to pick things up on his own anyway. Our education system doesn't really accommodate unless the child is classed as "gifted" and I do not know who is responsible for recognising that in a child. Also I do not know if the special schools for the gifted are for NT children only. My son is far from gifted or a savant but I believe that his incredible memory for learning and retaining information should be somehow recognised and utilised efficiently in an educational environment. My child retains facts and info on all sorts, but I wonder what use knowing the migrant population of Guinea Bissau or French Polynesia will be to him or anyone else in the future! (just an example, I am sure he will learn a lot of other things).
  11. There is a book called Babies That Read ... about hyperlexia. Brilliant!! Children that show signs (self taught to read, fascinated by the written word, alphabet etc) need to be educated slightly differently and the book tells how. They are using it at my sons school. My son understands everything he reads too but I would still say he is hyperlexic. He doesn't read phonetically like c-a-t and never has. He just somehow taught himself by looking at lots of books. He reads way above his 5 years but doesn't like books with too much text that will take a long time to read. On the freaky things they do ... when my son was 2 years 7 months, he couldn't write very well but could read. We were in town once and used a public loo. As soon as we got in, my child picked up a pen and got some paper and wrote perfectly "Please Use The Nappy Bins Provided" and came running in to me reading it ... "Please Use the Nappy Bins Provided". He had seen it written on a sign in the toilet and had somehow taken a mental picture of it, he had copied the letters font perfect. I will continue to let him use teletext as it seems to be making him bet more "buy in" to what he watching.
  12. Did you see the advert for Barbies latest accessory ... a dog that poops!!! Yep, it's true, you feed it biscuits and then by pushing down on its tail, it shoots out some small plastic turds. Then you get a pooper scoop to collect it with. Has the world gone mad? See it here: http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?...mp;in_page_id=2
  13. Er .... either is fine - the audacity young man!
  14. My nutritionalist checked the amount of Omega 3 in the milk available and said that the amount in the milk wasn't worth having. I will get the bread checked and let you know how that comes out.
  15. So little scamp is booked in for his single measles jab on Monday. Costing ?90 - well worth it. We are not going to get Mumps or Rubella done, as they aren't so life threatening (I dont believe measles is either and am guilty of reacting to the hype a little). Can anyone shed any light on why the mumps is more expensive .. they want ?120 for that one. Also, did anyones child have a reaction to a single measles vaccination. I am actually dreading it ... I still have guilt over my other son having the MMR.
  16. ... and the best news is that you can use the toilets for free - they don't make you pay if you have a disabled key! We used one of those space age freestanding loos yesterday (like metal pods) using the key ... my son was well impressed, said it was like being in a spaceship.
  17. Ah that would explain why my toddler (20 months) can finish a chuppa chups lolly in less than half the time my 5 year old can, all to do with the sucking reflex. I have no problems with toddlers being breastfed either ... it's just the older kids - they did a story about it on Desperate Housewives too. I'm not sure how old the woman with the big glasses kids were (between 4 & 7 ish?) but to breast feed them simultaneously at their age - blimey, she must have more milk than a Unigate warehouse. Bitty ...
  18. Thanks for the lyrics Auriel. I liked mine better. I never realised I was such a conformist - I just needed a real individual to show me the light.
  19. ... oh shucks, he loves me! I've pulled a 19 year old woo hoo! Soujourned ... how come you listen to such old style music then, like ELO?? That wasn't a criticism, just seems you are a bit young for all that stuff, I just wondered on your influences for your back catalogue. ELO is way back in the 70's ... my Dad had one of their records on blue VINYL ... yes, vinyl! I am currently listening to Stoosh by Skunk Anansie on CD and have just downloaded some Coheed and Cambria.
  20. Yeah you can get them in Hamley's for a few hundred quid (stuffed, not real)... I know because my son knocked one over and Tw***ed a guy over the head with one and nearly knocked him into next week! Just picked it up quickly and ran ...!
  21. Just going back to this thread and hijacking it a bit. My son has lost one tooth, it fell out in a shop and he didn't tell us. Now there is another well wobbly one, ready to come out but he doesn't feel it, he doesn't wobble it, he doesn't seem to be bothered about it falling out, fairies, etc etc. I try to wobble or grab it but he is being resistent. He is my eldest, so I have little experience ... will the tooth just fall out on its own or do I need to persevere in getting it out?? I am worried I am going to traumatise him the way my Dad did with me using the string on the door technique. I obviously wouldnt do that!
  22. Hi, I guess your post threw up a few questions:- What are you trying to achieve by getting a diagnosis??? Are you looking for help or just confirmation of whether you are AS or not? Do you feel a NEED to know? Are you able to accept yourself for who you are? Do you think you have AS in your heart of hearts?? I knew nothing about it until I looked it up on the internet, and then everything just clicked into place, so many traits fitted and so many questions were suddenly answered. I am sure there are some adults on here who can relate and help you. My son is only five, but I did stop and ask myself a few of the questions you are posing before his diagnosis - especially the one about it going on his medical record and the consequences that could have on his future. In the end I decided to have him assessed in order to help him through his school years. I could have quite happily remained in denial otherwise and just regarded him as a bit kooky, a little quirky and "different". Diagnosis or not, he is still the same child, I just understand him better now and adapt. I hope you get the help you need, you have come to the right place!!!
  23. .. that's two words ... Wellies
  24. No need for me to get one now I know you have one, I'll just go and get my towel ....!
