  8. hiya,i have also have had this over a yr ago with ds2,he tried to set the playhouse alight and we stopped him in time although there is a mark where he tried.i personally dont have lighters in the house but my very good friend does smoke.since this incident she does not smoke in my home and is very careful with her lighters as we think it must of been her ones that ds2 got hold off.we explained to him why it was dangerous and also took him to the local fire brigade to also explain.since then i have not had another incident and am hoping that is the end to it.
  9. my estranged husband also finds my ds 1 adhd son and ds2 asd son very hard to understand and can eitherbe like your husband or the total op and give in to everything they want.we in fact parted due to alot of strain of both boys conditions.he admits he doesnt understand them and how to deal with the sitution but he himself is also adhd which does not help. all i can advice is,is there a local asd group you can both go to or ask your childs peadtrition if there is a workshop that parents can attend as they run them from diet to behaviour,i myself would like to attend one but simply havent the time. with my ex husband well i am likely as we are friends with an asd teacher and she explains alot to him. i hope you find he common ground you are looking for. <'>
  10. hiya,i have just signed up for another course for a diploma in child care,i have almost finished my diploma child psychology course i have just eight weeks left and an exam to do.in september im also hoping to go to college( as other two are home study courses )to go and do a course for acess to health course.i would like also to go and do an lsa course but im not sure if i want to work in the classroom setting but would like to work within the sen sector. all this amongst looking after my five children,i must be mad but on a serious note but twins will be going to sch in sept and cant bear the thought of being home every day on my own.
  11. i would be really fuming over this because my twin dd was 7 wks prem,she is two years behind in her growth and height and astmatic and very prone to chest infections. if she had been in that clas the school def would of known i was not happy that occured. it is very cold and on/off snowing today and that certainly would not of been called for.i personally would question the head about this.
  12. hiya,thanks guys for your advice and yes his school is just infants.
  13. hiya.i have been told by my ds infant school they will be looking to statement him.This is his new school thas given lots of help.He is in year one and they said he could remain in mainstream. i would agree while he is at this particular school thats fine,it not a big school and they give him every sen measure they can but i would dis agree when he went into my other ds school in the juniours and it is a very large school and just going to collect my other ds my ds2 gets very freaked by this because they are so many children there.could i request when his statement goes ahead i can ask for him to go to a sen school?would i have that choice ideally i would like him to join his cousins school to help meet his needs.your advice would be gratefully appricated.
  14. this is the link for the website but not for the part in above link. http://www.tes.co.uk/section/staffroom/
  15. i cant ge link to work either,but i do look at the tes site and find alot of teachers on there do not belive in adhd,which disgusted me.
  16. hiya ive just been through similar thing.it was the dh /senco that didnt fill in ds learning/speech difficulties and basically made me look like a liar. i didnt know what she put on form till i went to appeal and they ent all copies to me.The sch already wasnt meeting ds needs and i had moved him to another sch.i have to be honest i went mad.wrote to chair of govs and lea whom got the sch to eventually(several mths of letter writting) to admit she filled in the form incorrectly but still no apology so i wrote to local mp and sent all letetrs to do with complaint including mp letter to the dla appeals,after i had been turned down. i still cant belive to this day they ignored all medical evidence form pead/community nurse/salt and went on this one womans unprofessional word.the mp since has got the shadow minister for education for kent involved and he has told both the lea and school that this senco cannot fill anymore forms in and that no sch is judge and jury and how they made ds look like he wasnt sen when indeed he is.when a serious complaint goes in and due to their grossly not meeting ds educational needs(they basically ignored his needs) he will be sorting this senco out.lucky for me one of his areas of interest is sen especailly asd.so now im waiting for his further info as he was calling a county hall meeting about this school and how it treats sen children. meanwhile the appeal tribunal have set aside last appeal due to incorrect evidence and i have a new appeal hearing date on the 30 of next month.to get this sorted has taken me nearly a year but i am the kind if a injustice has been done and im like a dog with a bone and wont give up. i wish you every luck and yours can be recitified if your prepared to stand up for your sons rights.it wont happen overnight but you will be doing your child and every other sen children a great service.
  17. ive just read this and very tempted to send this to the secretary of state for education.It really tells it like it is.the football reminded soo much of my ds when he used to play after school.it neve understood the game and spent most of his time alone playing with the grass and taking no notice with what everyone was doing.it was very sad to watch and after a number of sessions doing this i stopped him playing.i feel the goverment are trying to make these special children to a degree like the adverage child and that has we all know will never be. other children ask why is he rolling around on the ground having a tantrum when they come out the class at the end of the day.I feel sometimes it like trumatising him by putting him through it. today he said why have i got to go to school what does school do,i hate it. bless him.
  18. hiya, my ds1 adhd son was prescribed melatonin two years ago.he is on 3mg but that alone does not send him to sleep so on top my gp also prescribed him phergon and that works for my ds1. i give it to him 3 days a week and during hoildays/half term he doesnt have it.he too suffers nightmares and i thought it may be the melatonin that may cause it but even during breaks he still has them,his peadtriction says it is the adhd that causes the nightmares. my asd ds2,also has sleep difficulties but the pead does not want to prescribe it to him and wants the community nurse to sort that out along with his behaviuor issues.i have to say they came out the beginning of the month and i still havent heard from them so not sure what they are going to do but was told they were working on a sleep programme for him. throw two four yr old twins in this that wont go to bed and settle cause their brothers are making to much noise and that sums up most of my nights. his pead knows how my nights are but as i say refuses to put him on melatonin.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY

    [font=T happy birthaday guys
  20. thats excatly how i feel at the moment and i also agree with nellie.two of my children are adhd and the other asd.both with sleep problems.this caused an horrendes strain with my husband and i and we have been separted now for three years.at the moment we just exist.i cant leave my asd son for more than a few mins because of his dangerous tendenciesbecause of this i have to go upstairs when i put the other children to bed at seven pm and that my nights every night.i limited when its sch hoildays has he has meltdowns and cant cope being out.i feel sorry for my other children they miss out on some much and it does get me down sometimes.i dont even remember the last evening ive had out it was so long ago.everyone is talking about their forth coming holidays and i and the children as usual will be at home. sorry guys for going on just have a bad time @ mo.
  21. happy 4th birthday to my twins
  22. she is great,she has done a letter for the appeal of the dla for ds.she put down thats since he joined the school he has been on sch action plus because of his complex needs.His speech delay affects his learning and socail interaction with adults and peers.he responds best to strong routine and prior warning of any changes. in unfamiliar surrondings he becomes withdrawn and requires adult supervision at all times to keep him safe and to stop outbursts. he receives small group sessions for speech and language,physical coordination and socail communcation which have been built into his timetable to meet his needs.she also put about his sleep difficulties affect him within school. he has difficulty ordering such as getting dressed during pe.putting things on back to front,etc. that he is supported within school with a visual timetable and that he shows little awareness of hazards or cause and effect off his actions.that his needs are being met with a high level of adult intervention and how he would be very demanding within the home enviroment. they also said on the parents eve that he has fine as well as gross motor skills difficulties and will need to see an ot to help. she is great and has alot of understanding as she was aslo a head at a previous sen school,im so glad she is ds head/senco and that he has found someone that really understands him. <'>
