  3. My new son...Luca Jon!! Born on the 23rd november,8 days overdue and born by emrgency c section, weighing 9lb 8.5 oz,unfortunatley he became very ill not long after birth and was admitted to special care for 3 days with what were believed to be neuro problems, thankfully he made a swift recovery and came home with us today, and he is just perfect,India and his 2 other big sisters are just over the moon with him http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/sidders/luca072.jpg
  4. Eww can you help?India has developed a disgusting habit of bringing phlegm into her mouth and keeping it there, she sometimes spits it on her hand and sucks it back up again As im 37 weeks pregnant im finding it hard to stomach she has always had a thing about having something in her mouth ..like pieces of fluff, small stones or buttons etc,i think this is a method she has found of always having something on tap so to speak but well its really gross and i dont want her to do it,she has also started wrinkling her nose all the time, her dad does this quite alot and i dont know if this is inherited or something to do with her AS? her dad thinks i shouldnt draw attention to it but i want to tell her to stop because it makes her look quite odd
  5. hi Loulou Just to let you know that India had her tonsils and adenoids out in june and i was dreading it,but it really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be,the staff were brilliant and kept Indy's pain relief well topped up and let her go to sleep with just the gas as she is needle phobic,i found being very honest with Indy helped her to be prepared and we talked about it alot beforehand, the worst time was when she came round in recovery, that was pretty horrible All in all though she managed to cope with the whole thing really well and she has been so much healthier and sleeps a million times better since having it done, best of luck,i hope its a positive as it can be for both of you x
  6. That is brilliant news,so pleased for you, hope he continues to make good progress <'>
  7. Just awful,i cannot imagine having to go through this,i hope you manage to stay strong x
  8. Oh crikey Does this mean i am also too involved in my pregnancy? cretins.
  9. I wouldnt know either because like you say women are not screened in the UK,it is routine in the US and is a very cheap test too,a woman on a pregnancy forum i go on bought herself a test and her midwife has refused to perform it I dont know if there could be a link between it and ASD but it would be interesting to know and also be great if more people campaigned to make it a routine test in pregnancy.
  10. Hi thanks for your replies,i was a bit miffed by bids response too,but nevermind we are all entitled to think what we want are'nt we,from what the homeopathist was saying to us and from what ive read so far i actually can relate to the indigo child theory, both my daughter, nephew and another child i know on the spectrum all have a real "something" about them,i dont just mean they are quirky because of their traits but they just have a special feeling about them,i have had people comment on this who have never even met India and have just seen pictures and talked to me about her,so i can see where this theory fits in. My mum has several illnesses and lives in pain constantly everyday and is now ina wheelchair, normal medicine cannot help her,it has tried and failed,so we have bookd her a homeopathy session to see if it has any success where convention has failed. If i am going to have a bit of faith in TRYING to help ease my mums suffering,im sure as hell going to look into and try something that doesnt claim to cure but help my daughter to feel more settled in her world,no-one can explain to me why my child was born with an ASD when my 2 others were not,i dont expect this to explain it to me either BUT if i find a theory that i think fits MY child then fantastic,im not a naive silly girl,i knpw there are a great deal of charlatans who claim to cure our kids, this isnt about that, its about seeing if something alternitive helps her and maybe finding a better or different way of understanding. I cant wait to go to this talk anyway, its on January 5th and i will be sure to let you know the outcome.
  11. Me and my sister are going on a all day talk with a homeopathist about Indigo children,i had only heard about this briefly, does anyone have any experience or think there is anything in it? i found this... What is an indigo Child? As a summary, here are the ten attributes that best describe this new kind of child, the Indigo Child They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it) They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that. Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are." They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice). They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them. They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought. They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system). They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially. They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did"). They are not shy in letting you know what they need. and... just in case you heard otherwise from other "indigo" sources, the designated word "Indigo" has nothing to do with the color of an aura! It is the result of scientific observations by a woman who has the brain disorder called synesthesia. could all be a load of tosh i suppose but i think its at least worth going and having a listen to.

  19. Poor you and poor steven Makes my blood run cold to read things like this,i think with any child you have to make them aware of what is appropriate and what isnt, with our children it may take more detailed explanations,he did very well to tell you what had happened and must have been aware that it was wrong, poor kid,i hope that you get the proper help and support you need to help you all through this awful time. <'>
  20. India had her tonsils and adenoids out in june and she coped very well with it alla ctually, the only advice i can give you is to prepare him lots well in advance and have the promise of a treat at the end of it,we talked about indys op with her for weeks beforehand so that when the time came she knew exactly what was happening and why,it seemed to help her anyway,we also made sure the hospital staff were aware of her AS and they were brilliant with her too.good luck x
  21. aw such a shame,a real nice bloke, bit of a nutter but thats why he was loved,my nephew was a big fan,im sure it will upset him today,RIP steve x
