    SENCOs

    oh no it doesnt
  2. Dont be a pushover. Your childs needs wont just disapear so you would just be putting off an inevitability. Applying for a statement is not tied by how many times you try ie you only have one chance. You can keep applying. Dont allow yourself to be a victim hun, the school is bullying you dnt let them
  3. I dont know, but have you tried afasic? http://www.afasic.org.uk/
  4. Ask her to email the result and put the letter in the post so you arent waiting
  5. Good luck with the meeting. Either you or hubby need to take notes about what is said, as the school seems to be acting as if it has something to hide. Just be firm and clear about what you want and dont back down fro wanting a copy of her attainemnt levels. I think you need to request a copy of her school records hun, somethings going on?

    Assessment

persoanlly I feel I only started to be taken serously in respct of my daughter speech therapy needs was when I started to get independant sppech therapy reports assessing her needs. I wish I had not been so trusting at the statementling stage and done it earlier maybe then I would have saved myself years of ###### and my child would have got the help she needed ealier.
  7. I would be writing to the head and the school governors, coy to lea and point out that they are discriminating aganst your son. I think they will change ther view very quickly. He should not be being disadvantaged like this - I think they are on rocky ground f you challenge them
  8. I would reiterate n writing that before the meeting you need the information you have previously requested so that you can have an informed discussion. DO NOT LET THEM CO YOU INTO DOING IT VERBALLY an example could be.... Dear Mrs x Re my letter dated x concerning dd dob ....... Further to our conversation of today I confrm I will be able to attend a meeting on x wih yourself , ,Mrs X Senco regarding the issues raised in my letter of x requesting further information regarding dd progress to date. Please can you ensure that the documentation requested be forwarded to me as soon as possble before the meeting. Thanking you in anticipation Have you asked parent partnership if they can come with you? I think this or getting a friend to come would be a good idea
  9. If shes not making prgress and they say no ones been in its another nail in their coffin.
  10. I know you have concerns around speech and language provision. You could add an additional papragraph asking the school to advice you what inpt dd has had from external professioanls since starting school and at what intervals?
  11. I thought w was working towards level 1 as well. If thats the case she is on the p scales. I think you are getting the run around. What has school given you in writing about your childs levels and progress? You need to start gathering a paper trail of evidence to back up any request for stautory assessment along with detailed notes of who you spokke to, and what they said. You need the info to prove they are lying. Have you thought about making a FREEDom of info req for your childs school records if they wont play ball.
  12. Write to your mp asap the lea are taking the mickey. get them told
  13. She is telling you rubbish. You need to arrange a meeting to discuss the statement asap and take someone with you . I personally would ask her to email you a copy, it means its on your comp and you can go through it(retain a copy) and edit it with the things you want . It saves a lot of time and means you can email people for advice so its quicker. Get her to do this today and then ring ipsea.
  14. Why are you wasting your time ringing? To ignore their responsibilities and not write to paed in 12 months is neglegent, am I right in thinking they have had several forms they were supposed to send off? I would be putting in a letter of complaint to the head and governors(copies to paed and lea). I would also be writing to the hospital to say its ridiculotus that a- this wasnt chased up with the school by them- waste of resourses. The paed shuld be getting her finger out and putting pressure on school or I would think about asking for a new paed!
  15. You need to take anything that will show why you need the change of school ie school reports showing lack of progress - highlight bits you mayneed to quote school diary- use postits so you can easily give examples of behavious, diffiuclties etc I would write a list ofthe schools you think you will be pushed towards accepting and dont want look at their ofted reports, visist i youve times and write bullet notes about why they cant meet your childs needs. I would also do this for the present school and note why certain things they may suggest wouldnt work. You do need someone to come in and take notes for you as schools and leas convienintly forget to write down accuaratley whats been agreed in meetings. NB I had parent partnership once and her note taking consisted of 2 lines - completley dire so be careful
  16. Forgot to mention that partent partnership are not always very impartial so be careful what you tell her as she maybe a bit buddy buddy with the lea
  17. Personally I would be writing to the school governors and the lea. effectively they are discriminating against your child by not providing the resourses he needs. the school has its own sen budget which it should be using. if its not getting enough cash from they lea they should be writing to them requesting more cash - schools dont like to do this cos its time consuming! Has anyone mentioned bringing forward his annual review so these matters can be discussed? its just a thought. If it was me I would be speaking to ipsea and getting legal advice and writing strong letters to those concerened. It isnt fair to effectively exclude him from fulltime education because they havent got the resourses in place to help him
  18. Hi josie read through and copy the parts of the link that are relevan to you about unlawful exclusion. the ipsea link is good to show you what school should have done, How much notice were you given about the meeting, they should have given you the chance of having someone like parent partnership, asd advisiry service attend as well to offer support and expertise. Do you have some0ne who could come with you to listen and take notes.
  19. Like a rainbow after showers special people brighten hours Phasmid was the light that shone and helped me when all around me was dark and grey. When the worries and fears about my daughter were enveloping me and our family and we felt dispair. His kind words and wisdom helped show us the path we needed to take. I will never be able to thankyou and your family for sharing your knowledge, time and support during some dark times Please accept my thanks and condolences at this sad time
  20. I agree with the previous posters. Its important to do some homework before the meeting. -check with your lea about an outreach time, their work load etc so you have this inro for the meeting. -speak to ipsea www.ipsea.org.uk to check your legal position and get advice. - Your lea will also have details(check website) of your local parent partnership group, they are independant of your lea and are parental advisors who help parents and schools resolve despute, they will come to meetings with you but are busy. -I would keeep a diary note from now on of all phonecalls etc who they were from punishments etc so you have evidence of whats happening - this is very iportant! -Have a look at the national autistic website and print off their description of asphergers and how it affects your son. yOU CAN EITHER hand it in or use it as a basis on a letter to the school. After you have all the info write either a letter or note of your concerns so you can hand it into school at the meeting. Make sure you have put something in about their responsibilities under the disability discrimination act and ask the school about their disability equlaity scheme they were supposed to have completed in dec 06. If someone can come with you a friend you trust to write notes this woul be very helpful. It is your right to do this. Then write up the minutes of the meeting and send a copy to school(school should do this but in some schools they dont record things properly..Makesure you set a timescale for changes and a follow up meeting Good luck
  21. Have you see tnis josie? http://www.ipsea.org.uk/delegation-complaint-herts.htm
  22. I would write/ring your paed asap jEN he needs to know that his professioal advice is being ignored. Dont be worried about telling him hes already on your side <'>
