  1. Hiya ADHD was picked up first with us but it was very severe that it overrode everything else. Once on meds his aspergers showed up more. I find the conditions very different in my son and the problems we had were caused by not understanding his autism and putting it all down to his adhd whereas his asd problems have to be treated differently to his adhd, if that makes sense!!! He was also thought of as having ODD but having recently been dx with the aspergers can now see that its not ODD but his aspergers being treated the wrong way leading to most of his frustration. Personnaly I do find them very different in the ways they have to be approached but they are similar as in the circumstances our children are put into without being dx properly. Behaviour issues can seem very similar as alot of these children are been treated as NT typical kids and alot cannot handle this and of course react with 'bad' behaviour. Hope my ramblings here make sense!!!!! xxxx
  2. Hi clever people!! Anyone know what adware is on a pc? My antivirus mcafee brings it up as a potentially unwanted program and asks if I want to remove it. It rings a bell but cant think what it is and cant find anything on pc about it... Dont want to go removing things that have a purpose!! Thanks
  3. Hi Yes LEA's can over rule, we have just had this. Schools cannot say they cannot take a child because of special needs, they are breaking the law. Howver like the others have said, why would you want to put your child there? The primary school our ds was transferring up to said the same and the LEA said he could go there if that was my choice. In the end I sent him to a different school anyway, one that wanted him.
  4. The Education Reform Act (1988) requires that schools do not charge for activities that take place wholly or mainly during school hours. The school may ask for a 'vouluntary' contribution though and cannot exclude your child in activities within school hours. xx
  5. Hi Guys Havnt been on for a while but you all know how hectic it sometimes gets. I have been thinking of setting up a support group for adhd, asd and aspergers as there isnt really a local one to me. This would be in the East Northamptonshire area , if there is anyone interested then let me know on here or through a pm or email. Also if anyone has experience in this all suggestions welcome!!!! As said this is a thought at the mo to gage whether there is the interest .. Thanks Charlene xx
  6. Hiya Does your son have a statement is the first question I would ask you. If he does when is the annual review. You can call an emergency annual review if its not soon. We have just gone through this with my son only having 15 hours a week. I was looking at a special school myself but his statement wasnt high enough. He had band d and he needed band e for a special school. We have just got the hours upped and is now full time statment. We have decided to keep him in mainstream as we are changing schools and I felt he deserved the chance with the extra help. From our experience special school recommandation comes from the higher authorities but believe me if you push hard enough on the right people then hopefully you will get somewhere. Just look at whether you think he needs a special school of whether with more lsa help he could achieve more. xx
  7. Hi I had my 2 done without a second thought. I dont believe that it made any difference to my son and DS2 is ok. Ds 1 was also a difficult baby and toddler before the vaccination. He also had whooping cough at 18 months , although vaccinated and could have died if he hadnt been so to be honest I wouldnt put my child at risk of anything else that could put him in the same situation again. As has been said above I would rather have him here with his condition than risk his life. My thoughts only, not meant to influence anyone or upset anyone. xx
  8. Well we received our script for melatonin yesterday for ds 1 3mg. We gave it at 7.40pm, then both kids went up at 8.10pm. Well......usually we are up and down the stairs like yoyos, you know the scenario. Last night , nothing....silence, OH crept upstairs at 8.45pm and both kids sparko!!!! DS1 normally up till 10.30pm and ds2 plays up cause ds1 is awake. Dare I hope this is working, I was nearly in tears as he has been asking for something to help him sleep for ages... Fingers crossed for later. xx

Hiya No it isnt unreasonable, this what they should be doing now and they will know this. Every school gets given a budget for SEN but will probably give the reason they dont have funds. This however is not your problem it is theirs. We were in the same situation and the area manager for education went into our school and basically gave them a ticking off. As said above they need to be putting these measures in place or a statement maybe turned down as they havnt done enough. Start pushing them and get some answers. Good luck xx
  15. Hiya We went through the statementing process at the summer holiday time as well last year. I was told by the teachers that its not done through the holidays and then told that the lea do work through the hols. The difficult bit is getting hold of the school during the hols. I think our teachers concerned couldnt be bothered really. It did go through in the end and only one part was a few days behind schedule. Ring them up and ask.. xx
