  1. According to wikipedia, savant syndrome is related to autistic spectrum disorders so its probably a bit of both.
  2. When I saw a psychologist, I had to see him over 3-4 sessions with my parents who each had to have an interview with him separately for the assessment and I filled in a few questionnaires. Got the result I wanted in the end.
  3. I seem to have this problem too. Dad has to come and help me clean the house sometimes on a regular basis just to help keep things organised. If I have an appointment more than two weeks away I have to ring and check when it is, like the vets last week.
  4. Adele's rolling in the deep is one song I almost instantly knew the words to
  5. If anyone watches it, just wondering if this guy has got aspergers? I've noticed although he suffers badly with nerves, he doesn't get very emotional and he doesn't seem to do hugging or eye contact a lot with people. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUZN3spD3sA
  6. I learn song words very well because I listen to them at work on my ipod to give my brain a break from all other stimulus going around me. Unfortunately I still can't sing in tune.
  7. My golden retriever Amber has been set upon on a couple of occasions, both when she was on lead or with me in the process of putting her on a lead, so there was no way it was her fault. Owner didn't do anything to control the other dog that was off lead, and then tried to blame Amber.
  8. Yeah I can relate to that. Pretend to be adult at work, but I still do childish things at home to unwind.
  9. I can't follow the subjects of conversations and will often talk about an earlier subject when they have moved onto something else.
  10. From that information above, I'll be very borderline. Like today, I was going to get my wing mirror fitted at a garage I've never been to, and I had to ask dad for support in what to ask the garage and what to say, so I could say I need some support in communication, but not a lot.
  11. I started looking into it, but I'm too intelligent for it, as in being able to go to work, cook my own meals and make decisions on my own with occasional help.
  12. I'd rather pay £100 rather than having a possibility of an accident.
  13. If you send him with a change of underwear, surely they can keep him at school?
  14. I'm the same, usually if someone else starts a conversation, I can carry it on.
  15. I think someone at work has the symptoms of aspergers. He does talk, and he will talk to people, but he also does like to work on his own and doesn't deal that well with people sometimes and does inappropriate behaviour sometimes. He once slapped a colleague on the hand (not hard, but still a slap) when she went to put something in the wrong pigeon hole, and he once grabbed me by the arm and swung me back round in the opposite direction when I was heading towards the door of the post room carrying a bottle and a bag of stuff so my arms were full, and I was almost caught off balance. He also yelled at me for accidently sneezing on him, not that I don't think I actually did. He has epilepsy, and I wonder if this can come associated with aspergers?
  16. Just don't react, take it as an isolated thing and don't lower yourself to their level. Coming from someone whose had years of bullying at school.
  17. I get stressed if I need to be somewhere on time, especially if it looks like I'm going to be late. New places are more stressful, familiar places are not so bad.
  18. There is a scottish woman at work who I can never understand because her accent is so strong. But then other colleagues do struggle sometimes.

    Not good news

Why are you so worried about your weight anyway? Just stick to a good varied diet and you'll be fine.

  21. Ginger can also help as a natural supplement. Either ginger tablets or a ginger biscuit.

    Not good news

You're right there. I'm classed as obese but I'm fit and active despite being 14 stones.
  23. I'm enjoying chocolate and orange flavoured shreddies at the moment, would they have enough of the stuff mixed in to make a difference?
  24. As it happens, I was just holding my hand over my mouth as I was reading your post. Didn't know that was strange behaviour. I tend to stim, or make odd movements with my fingers, I also tend to yawn in stressful situations.
