  1. this is quite a new thing its been getting steadily worse over the last month or so. He just cant say something once everything is repeated, only the once and he doesnt know he is doing it. Does anybody else have this with their kids?
  2. hard one. i think i would have said what you did.
  3. empty toilet rolls all flattened and put under his bed. and pieces of paper all ripped in to 1 pieces there the on going fads but we have had loads over the years. oh and earwigs he puts them in his brothers lego box so they can have babies
  4. im not talking to my sister because of this. She told me that she had read up on asd and js problems were down to me and not asd (if only it was text book) she sees him once a year and because grand dad is there he sort of behaves (apart from the figgiting) id rather not talk to her than put my child through her ignorance and rudeness. stupid mooo oh and she has 2 spoilt nt kids that are horrible little brats that get away with murder
  5. i shout all the time it feels when the kids are at home. i do feel bad about it but with j being my eldest his noisyness and behaviour is starting to rub off on the others. if i have a little chat with 1 the other 2 start messing about again and if i have all 3 for a chat j starts giggling sooooo winds me up. ive tried going out the room to calm down and they get worse. Theres only me at home and they know just which way to wind me.i get migraines all the time. god how am i gonna cope with the holidays
  6. i had to go behind the schools back to get him diagnosed with asd. I went to a iep meeting last week and its the first time ive heard them be negative about j and finally they are doing something.
  7. <'> >< <'> hev im really sorry dont know what else to say <'> ><
  8. i have a 10 yr old asd dyspraxia who has spent at least 5 yrs attempting shoe laces and my dd whos 5 learnt in a day ive tried every which way and so has ot but i think im going to have to resign him to a life of velco and slipons
  9. Do you mean he will be in Mr Teacher's class next year or in the SENCO's? he will be in sencos Did he meet his IEP targets? If not, why? no he didnt some very near too but others were way behind. The Teacher's attitude does seem rather negative. >>..staying on task.... either wanting to be leader or being ott (hyper). or covering his ears and yelling. what he is saying is that j needs 1:1 and they have only just got the diag of asd i got him tested (another story) they have no other child at his school with asd to me his points were very positive as it means they are not denying they have problems with him anymore. Does he not have strategies to deal with this eg: work in the quiet area, using visual timetables? they have given him some but i dont think they will work as it is to many things to remember but they have to try i suppose Will your son not need a statement to get in the asd unit? no as the asd unit is attached to the mainstream school all he needs is a diagnosis

  11. cope. but senco is convinced they can. j is about 3 and half yrs behind on his maths and 2 n a half yrs behind on his english plus other he is behind on. had and iep meeting this afternoon me, senco, ep, and mr teacher. Mr teacher said that they are having trouble with j staying on task and they have to constantly remind him what to do and j is taking up to much time!!!! ep was shocked to say the least and when she tried to give him ideas to use he kept saying dont think it will work. he also said socially he is not making progress as he alienates himself by either wanting to be leader or being ott (hyper). or covering his ears and yelling. also hes not convinced he takes in everything he is being taught or reads. senco said next year j will be in his class which will only have 19 children in compared to 26 this year and a lsa, so the smaller class will make it easier i wasnt convinced nor was Mr teacher. What do you think? she also asked if i had thought about senior school and i said there was one i was thinking one about that has an asd unit, But i would have to go and have a look around and give them every piece of information on j before i would be convinced they could cope, and there is only one choice as the other one is attached to a c of e school and as i went there and i am also an atheist now wasnt even a point disscussing it.as you have to be refered by vicar etc and have a religious background. She said the only other choice is the special school, but he will have to have a statement. But having mr teacher on my side for the moment makes me happy (easily pleased me).
  12. Hello and welcome. great place this... my son is newly diagnosed (jan) and is 10 and this place is a godsend even before i got his diagnosis
  13. im exactly the same before any meeting todo with j had 2.5 hours sleep before the last one.good luck <'> ><
  14. <'> >< <'> hopefully she will flop soon so you can get a kip if steves not about
  15. we dont really have a problem with his behavior at school (or so the school say ) i think because it is a very controlled and everything is timetabled he can get rough in the playground but this usually comes from other kids and not the school. his behavior at home is horrendous but i cant control everything at home cause of the other 2 kids. Snip are special needs in patnership they give support to parents whos kids have sen. this thing with special schools not accepting kids without statements is it true cause my cousin got in one and he has never had a statement?? I think i will try again after the summer holidays he is in his sencos class then and if he has to teach him he might see what a struggle it really is.Thanks everyone <'> ><
  16. snip have said that j wont get a statement at all because- 1. he can read not brilliant about 2 yrs behind. 2. his handwriting is improving about 3 yrs behind at the moment. 3. his fascination for science and history. 4. he can hold his concentration for 5 minutes 5. his enthusiasm for lessons (apart from mondays blip) but.......... his maths is terrible as is his spelling. Socially he is way behind and my 6 yr old has more common sense (ie crossing roads, multi tasking etc) Everytime we have an iep meeting more and more targets are set the last one had to be shortened and i have another one next wednesday. I dont see him coping with 1000 11-16 yr olds next yr all coming at him he will panic and run and they wont let him have a special school placement without a statement. i dont know what todo pls help peeps
  17. jord flaps his hands but we just ignore it. Its what makes him who he is. I did have to tell him once to stop it when we were sat on a bus and his flapping hands were hitting an old lady in front across the head
  18. :o been up the school this morning about the making himself sick thing and senco kept saying asd this and asd that (he denied j showed asd at school durrr) and if that wasnt enough fainting material he said he thinks jord has dyslexia not that i didnt already know that cause ive been telling him that for 4 yrs and that he is going to take his maths back to yr1 work (like ive been telling him to all term) cause he didnt think he was that bad gawd some people but hopefully its sorted for now well until after the holidays
  19. :wallbash: it was me that said about my lad and his pants, i thought j enjoyed it until i rang up to discuss what we were going to do about math teacher and shoving fingers down his throat and the secretary started bleating on about swimming so i hung up, and then when i went to the the school last night to talk to his teacher i got greeted with the swimming thing for 10 mins and me saying over and over "its nothing to do with swimming" like a stir crazy nutter mumbling to them self i ended up shouting why make me paranoid if there is nowt to worry about. I have got another meeting this morning i promise not to shout if hes not enjoying it and you have to deal with the meltdown, Cannot you not go swimming with him with the school or say to the school not to send him and you will take him yourself <'> >< dont know really what to suggest sorry
  20. WELL DONE PARTY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. found the problem. for the past week or so j has had a new teacher come in to do training and she has been taking maths (he totally cant do/hates maths) and she is still learning about j but he doesnt like her. I have got a meeting with the teacher tonight and have spoken to j about making himself sick i might have frightened him a little bit dont think he will do it again hes got to stay in today as he smacked his bessy mate on the nose yesterday see this is getting worse too but do the school tell me noooooooooooo
