  1. Must be the Vodka Jellies creating that lump then! Thanks Pearl and Forbsay <'> <'>
  2. Hi Lisa! El has just turned 5, and like Owen he was talking around the same age and decreased and non-existant by 18-24 months! We are using PECS also and he has ST at school. He is in a class of six, and in last years class there was two little girls who are a year old than El who both had no speech at all at the start of last september....they both progressed so well verbally within the year that they were both moved into a higher class this september! How proud you must be of Owen?! That is so good to hear And thank you! <'> Lisa xx
  3. Thanks so much for all your replies! <'> We have had a lovely evening, some trampolining, a hiding game and a ticklefest which turned into lovely big cuddle! Now lets hope he sleeps through for a change.....this is one of our little irks which will hopefully right itself....but even in the middle of the night when he giggles and I get to see his big cheesy grin, I have to laugh! (El laughs like the Joker from Batman!!) Onwards and upwards, hopefully! Lisa xxx
  4. El came home this afternoon from school and as usual I looked in his class diary to read the following....."Settled well again, El completed tasks/puzzles and followed his routines. His behaviour is so good at the moment, we need to think carefully about where to take him next"....I am really pleased!!! This is happening all the time..lots of good stuff, apparentley his behaviour is exemplary and he has NO meltdowns at school, not one for several months now! I feel we are turning a good corner! I have a lovely boy who I am extremely proud of, and despite the fact he does not talk still, he manages so well using gestures and facial expression to communicate with me.....He copes really well with school, in fact he adores it...for that I have nothing but praise and admiration for the school and especially his teacher who I think is a gem, he is a lovely man who really responds and is tune with "his children"....you can see the bond between them and I love the fact my boy is being taught by somebody who genuinely loves what they do for the children in their care , I feel without them I would never have discovered what a wonderful child I have, they have opened up his charming personality and spirit, that I once thought was none existant! I am so proud of El, his teacher and his school. Anyway, I just wanted to share! Love to all here, and I hope this is something we can all experience! Apologies for my SLUSHFEST! Lisa xx
  5. Hi Lisa My name is Lisa too, and my boy El is five and a very fussy eater! He will only eat dry crackers, toast, fromage frais, milk, wafer thin(see through!!!!!!!!) ham....occasionally and biscuits, plain crisps, sausages and sausage roll with the sausage removed (don't ask!), He is seeing a dietician as he suffers with Chronic Constipation and has to take meds to 'help' move thing along!! But he can withold it for days and the end product is scary and traumatic for him. He is still in nappies and shows no interest in the potty or toilet. Welcome to the forum! Lisa xx
  6. Oooooh Bid, You've made me cry happy tears! I am really pleased for you! Lisa xxx
  7. Aaah, that's just warmed my cockles!!! <'>
  8. Hello to both wardie and MadameZiggy!! <'> <'> Welcome!!! You will both be fine here, it's a really friendly forum, hope to speak to both of you soon! Lisa xxx
  9. OCG, Your boy is gorgeous and so lovable. I really wish you well and anything that I can do to offer support....please ask! Lisa xx <'> <'>
  10. Mumble, You are NOT horrible or useless! I really feel for you, I think you are very brave, you live in this world which is obviously so full of stuff that unsettles you, yet you manage to function and go to uni, you are wonderful! People must be more understanding of you. They are the ones with issues, not you! <'> <'> <'> Lisa xx
  11. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I'm to blame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I googled "Autism Forums" and this place was one of a few that came up, But I liked the look of this one.......and also the tempting animal magnetism of BADDAD!!!! I felt at home here as soon as I joined, and I told Pearl about it, and pets74...I know them both from a BB forum and we all have lots in common, so glad they both came over to the DARK SIDE!!
  12. Well Done to you both, Hev! MSN rocks my world! It's fab! Lisa xx
  13. Clare, <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> I hope you are feeling better this evening? Lots of Hugs Lisaxx
  14. Lovely post, Pearl! <'> Yes, same here...lots of hugs and support to anybody who is having a difficult time. Lucky for us, El is really chilled out about the school returns, waiting impatiently at the front door for the mini bus (Am I that bad??????? ), and not even glancing back at me once it arrives!!!! He still isn't sleeping though, so I don't get off scot free! Stay Strong Lisa xxx
  15. OOOOOooooh, just realised that sounds a little 'naughty and experimental'!!!!! I mean a masseuse each! Just imagine it......being drip fed dark rum and being massaged all over?! It sounds like a Gordon Ramsay recipe!!
  16. Been thinking of you too, hope you are doing okay? Lisa xx <'>
  17. Thanks Donna and Emma! <'> <'> What's your tipple, Donna? So I can get your 'medicine' ready!!! Yep, it's definately gonna make life easier, safer and cleaner!!! We even used it tonight to sit El in whilst I trimmed his hair! I am gonna start getting what he's entitled to now, I have always been a bit wary of asking for certain items, seeing as my DH has a good job with a decent wage.....always thought somebody elses need was greater than ours, but I know that's not always the case so I will make sure El has all he needs! We could have done with this two years ago, but I just continued buying buggies and the frames would buckle after a few months, so I'd just chuck it and buy another....at last count we were on pram 23!!!!!! Seriously!! But that did include a tandem, two doubles, an all terrain 3 wheeler, two big newborn style prams and copious buggies and Romy's Quinny Zapp! Emma, I know what you mean.....the kids are off like a flash if something attracts them! I need eyes everywhere! Thanks again! Lisa xxx
  18. pets, I'll book you in for a self induced coma then!!! *sents truck load of whisky and gin to pets' house!!!*
  19. forbsay, try and get a little "me time" (difficult I know!!) but remember you are doing brilliant, working, running a home and being a mum!!!! I salute you <'> Look after yourself!! Don't suppose you fancy a week in the Maldives...just me, you and lots of cocktails and a handsome masseuse???!!! .....I can dream! Lisa xx
  20. Thanks Ladies and Simon!!! <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> We've got it and he's fallen asleep in it!! llisa32, I am annoyingly chirpy, I always try the brightside....not much gets me down and not very often....but when it does, I can sulk and scream for England! pragmatic, I will pop you at the top of the list for a nip/tuck! mossgrove, I hope so too, thanks! brooke, El has been on and off Melatonin for nearly three years, sadly it doesn't really work, only occasionally....but I think that's a combination of the meds and utter exhaustion! He has been on Vallergan fo several weeks now....that also doesn't work!!! elun, thanks for understanding, good to know I'm not alone! pearl, You can be the tester, and if you look good, I'll go for it too! forbsay, Thankooooooooooo!
  21. After finally getting to sleep around 4.30 this morning due to El's allnighters of non sleep, I was woken by a phone call at 7.50am...it was the the local OT department with a cancellation appointment today for 10.30am, yay!, El is finally getting a buggy! We have been waiting since April, though he needed it long before then and we were told at the time, due to lack of resources we would waiting till next Jan for a fitting appointment and the buggy issue. I am elated that we have been slotted in, I was about to look into buying one ourselves because this summer has been horrendous, we have barely been out. El has been really obsessive and wanting to mouth everything, dirt, sand, dust, cars, wheels, glass...anything hazardous and just yesterday he ran into the road three times even though on a wrist strap! Just wanted to share as I am really pleased, but looking really grey haired after the past six weeks....lots of RECITAL is required!!! Fingers crossed now that the DLA reconsideration appeal works now, and El will hopefully be allowed High Rate rather than Middle care, staying up every night is a real pain! The NHS should offer BOTOX/SURGERY for carers! If they did, knowing my luck, I would look like this Lisa xx

  23. Good Luck Hev <'> I bet your DS has so much fun! It will be good for both of you! Lisa xx
  24. I loved it all, but I really loved the line towards the end from the NT son David, "Ben is the most normal one in this family!" It was well done, not sugarcoated, it was real. Even my Hubby shed a few tears! And the understanding between the two brothers at the end was brilliant.
