  2. Good luck Tilly with your new addition, I hope you find this to be a really positive step, like the others we were in a simular situation now 2 years on our doggy and son are the best of friends. Clare x
  3. OOOh Cat that's awful !!!! Mumble how about a valium drip ? I know a friends who has this cause she is so terrified of the dentist she says its wonderful !!!! I remember as a kid my Dad having really bad toothache and was in so much pain that he hit himself over the head with a frying pan ??? years after the pan still does balance properly on the stove LOL Clare x
  4. Conkers !!!!! My Mum swears by them, wrong time of the year now though, but come the autumn collect some and place them by doors and windows etc apparently spiders hate the smell of them and won't come in ..... Clare x
  5. No matter the age.....there are a lot of cruel and very wicked people out there. Maybe we are just a bit more sensitive and knowing, I can't bear cruelty or bullying in any shape or form to either humans or animals. There is a man who walks his dog in the local friends some of the other dog walkers avoid him saying his weird, I have gone out my way to speak with him, I don't think he's on the spectrum but very shy and probably a bit lonely. We have a common interest in our dogs so its been easy to strike up a conversation, over the months he has become quite chatty and always greets me with a nice smile and we stand and had a quick chat whilst our dogs play. The others now seem to have come around and will now say hello and let their dogs play, I've never said anything to them but wonder if they feel ashamed of their previous behaviour. Clare x
  6. Bambi, I think you are fantastic, thank you for fighting so hard not only for your own child but all children living with a disability. Your MP sounds a decent woman lets hope she keeps her promise. Maybe we should all write to our MP and insist the failings are addressed in parliment. My situation is nothing compared to yours but the experiences I read on this forum totally frustrate me and make me so angry every single day, so many parents/carers are struggling to get help and support its a total disgrace and I just don't know what to do about it. Clare x
  7. Bambi, My heart goes out to you and your son, its absoultely appaulling how you have been treated and you have done brilliantly fighting for help. I can not begin to imagine how exhausting, frustrating, stressful and scary this must be for you. I wish there was something I could do to help. Why of why does it have to get to crisis point before anyone actually sits up and starts doing something. You are a very special and amazing Mother, never forget that. Clare x <'> <'> <'>

Didn't realise it was on everynight ! I watched the Sharon Osborne one last night I felt a bit of a voyeur as she spoke of really personal stuff, have read alot of it in her book but it seemed different watching her talk about her life, Pamela worked with Sharon to explain how perhaps the behaviours came about, but I did find Pamela to be a bit intimidating as she seemed to really stare. Interesting watching though and would have really liked to have seen Stephen, must remember to watch tomorrow night thanks for the reminder Smiley. Clare x
  9. Thanks Mumble & BfB, Mumble don't put up with toothache, that and earache are terribly painful and make you feel so miserable. Explain to your dentist the problems you experienced last time maybe they could do treatment under a general (hopefully that would work, but don't want to scare you but my question was originally generated because a friend asked me today of my son's experience with the dentist, her lad has sensory problems and has been in extreme pain in the past year after two visits to the dentist, she wondered because when he was younger and had his tonsils out under a general when he returned from theatre he was sat bolt up right, wide awake and absolutely terrified, at 3 years old he was unable to explain, but she has wondered ever since whether the anaesthetic actually worked ??? Like you say it would be interesting to know if this is an issue for others with AS/ASD. Hope you get your tooth sorted out real soon. <'> Clare x
  10. Why is it when ever anyone needs help or support from the so called proffessionals its nothing but a battle and parents and carers have to beg and grovel for help. Maybe we could have the next "meet" at number 10 !!! cut out the middle man and go to the top. Seriously though Donna, I am sorry you have been let down again. Clare x <'>

Donna, That's fantastic, well done ! Clare x
  12. Awww Loulou, sounds like you really have your hands full at the moment, like Bagpuss says don't soldier on if things don't improve. Sometimes those close to you don't really see that your not coping so you may have to say you need more help, just for the time being anyway to help you over this hurdle. As you no doubt know sleep is so important and the lack of it makes coping even harder. Mind you don't drop off in that bath will you !!!! just make sure you take plently of time and relax, don't worry about your DP he has his flat to retreat to. Sending you loads of these for good measure... <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> Clare x
  13. Awww Mel, know how you feel, my son is alone again, like your lad he's keen to have a friend round but on his terms on what he wants to play, he could spend hours doing one thing where as he say's his friends keep wanting to do different things for example lets go outside and play football, 10 minutes later can we go up the shops, another 5 minutes can we set up such and such game, oh no now we want to play playstation or should we go to the park....poor Connor gets so confused and bad tempered with them that he ends up just doing his own thing. A friends Mum phoned today to see if he wanted to join them swimming but he just could face it, he seems to miss out so much because he can't cope with their chopping and changing of what they want to do. I hate him going to the park because he usually wanders back alone after about 15 minutes because they went off to do something else without explaining exactly to him what they doing, he certainly does not "follow the crowd" Sorry Mel to waffle on about my boy, what's your son into ? maybe you could find like minded children, maybe there should be a kids forum so our lot could share their interests and make friends. <'> <'> <'> Clare x
  14. Anyone else come across this with their children. Having been administered local anaesthetic at the dentist has your child still experienced the pain and felt no numbness, could this be part of other sensory problems or has it not worked this has happened twice now ???? Thanks Clare x

  16. I heard somewhere there's more sugar in that blackcurrent product than there is in cola !!!! OUCH! My fault entirely for starting this thread - but we can't actually name names! I'll be copy/pasting this in all subsequent posts too, but if anyone else is adding fresh stuff to the topic, please tread carefully! L&P BD
