  1. I can only second what daisy has said.Go with your gut feeling. As a parent you often know best.i think your first port og call is going to be your g.P.
  2. I took the two test Baddad mentioned.I am an adult with suspected A.S. I scored exactly as i suspected, probable aspergers. They are only a guide though. There are a couple of others as well that i have taken that have been posted on here.I cant remember what they were called though. I went all the way through school with no one picking anything up. It seems that often girls especially those that are high functioning seem to slip through the net as it were. Then again your daughter could just be being an awkward teenager but if you have doubts a s a parent then I think these should be looked into.As parents we usually know our children best and often have an insight that others do not. Good luck <'> <'> <'> Forgot to add welcome to the forum.
  3. Tally I still do that as well as not pausing for breath
  4. Hope you manage to get a break and or some sleep today. <'> <'>
  5. Great news. Well done for winning the fight
  6. The only thing i would say is I am sure i have read and it might even have been on here, that it is fairly common for people with A.S. to have a very poor short term memory but an extremely good long term memory. So it could be that he really doesn't remember.hope this helps.

  10. Marknotgeorge Hope you get something sorted out soon and you start to feel better keep us informed. There is plaenty of support on here. <'> <'> <'> <'>
  11. Bullet I haven't been diagnosed either but I am pretty sure i have A.S. albeit fairly mildly. Incidentally one of my so called party tricks was to read a passage out from a book at break neckspeed
  12. Hi All Just wondered if talking really fast is a feature of A.S. or not.I am an adult with suspected A.s. and have always spoke really fast.i read really fast as well both outloud and when i am reading a book.At school I was always picked to be a narrator because my reading was so advanced but i was always told to slow down. Yet other people whom i have known with a.s. my husbands friend for instance talk at a normal speed. So i'm not really sure
  13. Das You will be missed. You have my upmost admiration for how well you cope. But even the best copers in the world need time out to get their head round the amount of info you have had to digest. Please come back soon and loet us know the outcome of getting support for oreo <'> <'> <'> <'>
  14. My daughter R is finally taking her first ballet exam(primary)She is actually just nine and has been dancing since she was two.She has always had co-ordination difficulties.dh is dsylexic and i would suspect she is too which interfers with her co ordination. But I am so proud of her especially after her autistic encephalitus at four years old which she recovered from.I feel it's such an achievement for her.they have told me not to expect too much and she will hopefully get a straight pass, in other words she will just pass. But I don't care she will be pleased to pass, just got to keep our fingers crossed now as obviously for her own morale it would be great if she could pass, She is allready saying things like 'Mum do you think I will be the first person not to pass' It's not until March by then I will be a nervous wreck Anyway that's my proud mum bit done with
  15. Hi kieran I've said hi in the introductions section but once again welcome to the forum. You seem to be a popular girl something different, with lots of online friends.Good on you
  16. If i am in a supermarket and a child is having a temoer tantrum and anyone makes an offensive remark i give them a mouthful if it is my child or a complete strangers But then I've been there and i am well aware that things are not always what they seem.It may well be the child has difficulties and is not just showing off. Good on you
  17. Thanks that was interesting.Does this mean do you think one day they might be able to do some kind of test whilst the child is still in the womb to see if they are going to have autism a bit like they can do a test for downs syndrome?
  18. Sorry tried to quote half of what steve had said and got a bit muddled up

    Introductions!!

Hi Kieran Welcome to the forum.I was impressed at all you have achieved after reading your post. There is lots of adults on this forum with A.S. and loads of parents who also know there stuff.Anything you need to know just ask
  20. Exactly lindy it is a genetic condition and no one should be blaming themselves or others in the case of an adult with A.S. for having the condition. It is down to genetics and no one can be blamed for them.It is not bad parenting or any other absurd reson.Have some of these all of you <'> <'> <'> <'>
  21. Eleanor i am good at eye contact and don't have obsessions.Like you say it doesn't mean you don't have aspergers. It's a pity the professionals don't realise this.
  22. Elaine I would suggest that many people who has experienced the pain and anguish of ASD are like you.I did this with my son after my daughter was ill with autistic encephalitus.i did it until he was three and i began to realise actually there was nothing wrong with him at all. Saddest of all because of my fears and constant watching I made myself badly ill with depression and was unable to bond with him.I can't get those years back and i cant remember much of him as a baby Dont do it too much you cant get those years back. Having said that i am already checking my 11 week old niece's eye contact but not obviously I hope My husband seems to think i am suffering or have suffered with post traumatic stress because of what happened. Lots of what you are describing n.t. toddlers do.It would be too early to tell there is a definate problem. try to relax and enjoy him <'> <'> <'>
  23. Well I voted girl with as with one co-morbid.I have ocd as well.Is this included???
