same problem with twins for melatonin silly doctor put script for for liquid melatonin country has no licence for it went back to docs gave me script for 2.5mg do not do it only in 3mg took me a month and a half to get it was nearly demented by then now have to crush pills for them as the twins cannot swallow any tablets at all thank god they made calpol in liquid form does any of your children have probs with swallowing pills? best of all my sister in america could have sent me a bottle over by the time they took to make up their script you can buy it in liquid form over there without a script its available in the chemist like buying calpol how long do u think they have to be on it? been given no time limit keep smilin luv karin xxx

saw the bill last nite the boy has learning difficulties thats what they said,my 2 are obsessed by the bill so much so that we have had to stop them watching it at 4:00pm on uktvgold as after it has finished they want to arrest their little brother and handcuff him up,they are so obsessed we had to visit our local police station when we were on easter hols and were disappointed when they couldn't go into the custody suite and they say our kids dont have obsessions ah well never mind keep smilin luv karin

A while ago a lady posted that you can download a pdd assesment scale rating/screening questionnaire which i did when i went to fill it in for the twins it would not give me the score can anyone help me with this one please? its for when they eventually are assesed by the educational psychologist so that i can present them with this at our meeting would be most grateful.had results back from a questionnaire from cambridge autism site filled this in,in aug05 she e-mail me results seems twins came back with empathy quiotient (dont know if this is spelt right) is very low and sequenzing quiotient very high which is indictive of autism know its not proof but getting somewhere at last i hope keep smilin luv karen

hi elaine1 so sorry to hear about your dad my thoughts are with you and your family at this emotional time look after each other,when my father in law ws dying we made a conscious decision to let the twins visit him in hospital to realise that some people do not always live it was hard for us but im glad we did it we just sat them down quietly and explained all about what happens when people die i hoped they understood they were only little at the time,but surprise surprise they did take it in as they were doing something at school last week about easter and jesus dying and 1 said just like my grandad he went to heaven,all i can say is if your son asks tell him everything you know that way he may understand it all sending you these <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> take care luv karin xx

hi tylers-mum i was told the same thing bout the twins the psychiatrist said they were socially immature but did not have enough aspies in them to warrant a diagnosis,we have had lots of trouble at school with bullying happening to both of them,i have told them to hit back but the school policy in our school is strange if a child hits another the second child is told off but not the first child told the headmaster what he could do with that policy my children have been told if a child hits you hit them back as every time this happened to the twins the child they hit called them a grass this then stopped them from telling so now i say well just hit them back me an hubby will stand by them no matter what.I can see the psychiatrists point of view twin1 acts younger than his little brother at times for instance last nite he had a screaming fit for 20mins because someone took his yougurts and ate them, at times the youngest 7 acts more grown up than the twins who will be 10 in november,i know how you feel its hard for them at times and you wish they would act more mature but such is the nature of their condition keep smilin luv karin

hi all just wanted to keep you all updated on the twins progress,last year on this website someone mentioned cambridge autism centre i duly went into it and found a research for mother/sib project basically had to fill out forms online for the twins what they were like emotionally etc.last week looking through my many e-mails realised 7months had come an gone with no word so e-mailed the lady who was doing the project she came back with this the twins's eq(empathy quotient) came back low and their sq(sequenzing quiotient)came back high she quoted this is inline with someone who has autism i would still have to have them assessed but i could take along this e-mail as proof to the experts she also sent me a form to print out fill in for each child and send them back to her,was quite excited first good bit of news we have had to confirm what me an hubby already know,still waiting for school to come back to tell me when the educational psychologist is to come in to assess them,but will not let it go i think we are at last on our way heres hoping keep smilin luv karin

my2 hate any change in routine and will stim a lot as well but i tend to keep them to a routine as they get up just as early the next morning they do not sleep late,if we decide to go out for the evening once every 3-4months the next day they tend to go upstairs and wreck their room do any of yours do this? luv karin

hi all my twins always failed their hearing test at the time of the health visitors check ups and was sent to hopsital constantly to have other hearing tests done twin2 had recurrant ear infections and was fed antibiotics till they came out of him (sorry bout the qip its just that they realise now that too many antibiotics are not good for you wish they had known that when twin2 was a baby ) even up till last year they had a hearing test as the so called specialist thought they might be deaf turns out he was they weren't (i mean he didn't listen to me or hubby when we told him they had been for numerous hearing tests and all came back normal) funny how all our kids have had probs with hearing makes you think if you knew then what you knew now keep smilin luv karin xxx

hi all my twins role-play constantly about school always writing down the register taking school lunch money etc they say school is better than at home (thanks a lot boys) they are also obsessed by the bill and watch it every day on uktvgold and the 2 episodes on wed/thurs,when it is over they like to run about with their walkie-talkies and shout a lot then i shout at them to be quite its a good job our neighbours are hard of hearing keep smilin luv karin xx

hi all thanks for your replies bout the website will give it a go had a laugh i think we all are intelligent on this forum it doesn't matter what score you get at the end of the day you all do a brilliant job looking after the kids which in itself is hard enough at times.update on the twins 3 weeks ago i approached our new head teacher to ask him if it would be possible for him to have the educational psychologist in to assess my 2 i was amazed he said yes and promptly filled out the forms,last week the senco teacher told me he was coming in to assess another pupil and i had to sign a yellow form for her on it they had written that a psychologist was sent in last year and everything was ok,i stated she was a trainee and not from the education department either but from the so called expert who said the twins did not have an asd this was after only seeing them each for 1/2 an hour he is a child psychiatrist who happened to take a course on the NAS the blooming man had a cheek to write to me to ask me if i wanted to see him again would i write to him i will tell u if i wrote to him i would have ended up in court.what made the headmaster move so quick was the fact i had spoken to the top man in education for our area who just happens to be an expert in aspergers although he wouldn't assess the twins at this stage he may do in the fututre,and the other incident happened about 3weeks ago twin2 was set upon in the playground by 7 boys who continually threw snowballs at him his brother went to help him and was pulled to the ground they both fell and banged their heads,result twin2 with massive headache and sickness and ill all weekend come the monday terrified to go into school,well me and hubby requested a meeting with headmaster first thing monday morning told him what had transpired gave all boys names which he made come into his office (they all blamed each other) twin2 was also there although he felt uncomfortable about it we told him do not worry always come to us for help never keep these things to yourself as all my boys have been told this oh well we carry on and fight the fight im determined this will be the year to have the twins sorted one way or the other enough ranting and raving must go and make some coffee keep smilin luv karin

hi all karin here just popped in to update you on the twins's progress.i have been in touch with the local councils chief education officer after being given his number from a friend who son has aspergers he could not diagnose the twins as they are still under the specialist (haha) but put me in touch with a local group who help parents to get their children statemented they have sent me forms to fill in giving them permission to write to their school look at all their records (the twins's records) and come with me to meetings when asked.i have spoken to the new headmaster of our school and told them i have been trying to get the ed pshy in for 4 years but the school were not having any of that,but once i told him that twin2 in is the lowest set for english (I'm talking with year3's and 4boys from his year) he also has gone down to basic spelling i.e.calf and calves the latter he could not even spell,and twin1 has had to take a step down from spellings too about 6 steps down as far as i can see,also although they are both in the top set for maths their work is so different so i know they are not at the same level,.Imagine my delight when speaking to the headmaster on wednesday to discover he has made arrangements for him to come in to assess the boys i asked him why and he said because if a parent asks for this we will do it hip hip hooray i know there is a long way to go but heres hoping i am on the right track who knows anyway enough of my inane dribble must go lots to do luv yas keep smilin luv karin xxxx

hidden gem in answer to your e-mail making people aware is harder than you think i have seen 5 specialists (or they think they are) on asd but most are only sidekicks (ie in training to be psychiatrists or psychologists) who still say there is nothing wrong with my twins (incidentally all these people have only ever saw my twins for 1hour each time) but they can diagnose on the spot that they dont have aspergers if this was someone with more than 10years experience i could accept that but only after every test has been done (although we filled out the disco form this was totally ignored by one specialist,incidentally he took a course of asds/aspergers with the nas) how can we change the system when the system does not want to help people like us they call us parents paranoid say our children are not on the asd the reason for this i have discovered is by giving them a diagnosis they will have a range of help and benefits but by denying this they lose out i am not having a go at you as a person i am just angry at the system which is so wrong in this country but in places like america or sweden your child will be diagnosed within 2 weeks ( i know about america as my niece was diagnosed with add within seven days) it is hard enough for us parents who dont have a diagnosis living with these children every day knowing what is wrong with them when we have a government whos critieria is so antiquated it came out of the arc sorry all for blowing off needed to be said but know matter how much we campaign the system will never change try filling out a dla form like i didx2 and being rejected for 1 in only 8 days amazing isnt it when they have never even saw my children luv to all karin xx

hi opal know how you feel my twins have not been diagnosed yet but i know in my heart they have it we are the parents who live with these children every day of our lives we know them better than any specialist ever could i have give up trying to get a diagnosis for the moment just enjoying my kids for who they are will get around to it eventually know what your going through i felt the same way no one would believe us an they still dont but i dont care about them anymore i just care about my kids there are a lot of people out there who will help you and do ask for a 2nd opinion you are entitled to it sending you lots of these <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> we are all here to help you keep in touch lots of love karin xx

hi everybody just thought id sign in to see how you all are hope you all had a nice xmas and a happy 2006 from all our household not been around much been busy doing this an that just started an online computer course and trying to give up smoking me an hubby sooo hard but hopefully we will suceed been to my child rearing 8 week course it was like trying to teach ur granny to suck eggs saw another specialist for the twins still the same diganosis traits of aspies and adhd they are still on melatonin at least they sleep at nite me an hubby give up with specialists i guess they will never see what we see as the twins are very good at hiding their disabilities ah well just have to get on with life pop in again soon luv ya all karin xx
