  1. Charlie is only 3 but he cant ride a trike or anything with pedals. Ollie only learnt last year when he was 6 - shoe laces? - don't even go there!!!
  2. Hiya! We have uprooted from Southampton to Devon (not the same as moving countries I know but may as well be down here ) - we moved in July last year and apart from about 2 / 3 months of hell with Charlie's behaviour he has settled down well and its the best thing we ever did. I would go with what you feel is right - if you have been thinking this way for a long time then its obviously something you really want. I am sure J would get great care wherever you move to and if you plan it right I am sure he will go with it.
  3. Thanks both for your replies - sorry I am a bit sheltered still - probably worrying about nothing LOL
  4. DS finger fiddles A LOT - not his own fingers, only mine or DH's - he digs his nails in our nails and bends our fingers - has anyone experienced this and are there any alternatives that anyone has found?
  5. Hi all You probably won't remember but my son is starting his assessments on Friday - he is 3 and has had an initial diagnosis of HFA. Please could someone enlighten me as to the sort of stuff that they do at the assessments - his are going to be 3 hours every Friday over 6 weeks. Next question - had a call today from the educational psychologist to say that she is going to be in attendance on Friday morning AND she wants to come back home and do a home visit the same afternoon - would this just be yet another Q & A session or observations? Sorry for the wide open questions Sarah x
  6. Sorry I can't help - my 3 year old is a runner too and I am having thoughts about buying a tazer or stun gun
  7. I do but only in bed at night
  8. Here my 7 year old reads anything from Horrid Henry, Spiderwick Chronicles, Harry Potter etc but his reading age is way above what it should be. As for my HFA 3 year old - anything that has letters or words gets ignored UNLESS it is Night Garden or Thomas!! We used Oxford Reading Tree and the books are really good - would recommend them!
  9. Good Luck Peaches - I have just had gall bladder surgery and I am having to let other people do stuff (I hate it LOL) - hope it all goes well for you xxx
  10. I have a no jumping pecs card I can scan and send if its not too late?
  11. Wow you are really close to me - I am in Willand
  12. I am now in Cullompton, Devon via Kingston, Portsmouth, Port Talbot, Eastbourne, Polegate and Eastleigh LOL
  13. I can't really offer any advice other than to say that I know EXACTLY where you are coming from - my son is 3 and ASD and I have a 14 month old as well and she is copying everything too including screaming!
  14. I have wondered about this - my son's actions are almost "fake" - its like he acts his emotions eg laughing, crying I have no idea about why though ...
  15. Just to make it clear - the refund was from paypal NOT the seller - they refused to communicate.
  16. Yes I have *waves hands* - I had to open a paypal dispute and I got a refund - still hacked off though - mine was for PECS stuff I will PM you the name I have.
  17. My whole family is right handed APART from Charlie who is ambidextrous at the moment but strongly favours his left hand!

  21. Eat, eat, eat and did I mention eat??
  22. My tips would be ... send EVERYTHING in you can, photocopy EVERYTHING you send in, fill it out based on the worst day possible. Prove that he needs more help than a NT child of the same age . There are some posts on here that have links to sites with advice for filling the forms in too. I did Charlies in Feb and got a decision last week - he is high functioning autistic, 3 years old and got High rate care component.
  23. I started bugging my HV when Charlie was 13 months old ... normal thing, got labelled paranoid mother ... kept on and on and we finally got our first referral when Charlie was 2 years 10 months, straight away he was put on the spectrum, first assessment was at 3 years 1 month where he was labelled HFA and his next assessments start on 25th April for six weeks ...
  24. That sounds horrible - hope she gets better real soon x
  25. I was wondering about these too - my DH thinks I am going OTT but he isn't the one trying to prise DS's tongue off the checkouts and the trolleys when we go shopping or trying to explain to people that he when he stands with his hands over his ears screaming its because there is the wrong sort of noises etc etc I have seen tshirts with " I 'm not naughty - I'm autistic" but then I got told I would be drawing attention to him - I really dont give a flying wotnot what people think but it does get my back up when people give you that "look"
