  1. Hi there Keiron, welcome to the forum. You might be able to find more teenagers on wrongplanet if you aren't already on there. Jack
  2. Another forum member is doing a postgrad distance learning course on ASD at the same uni, wonder if it is the same course?
  3. Must be a thing, we're extremely tight on money right now and our car failed the MOT which means we have to buy a new car. Plus we need to put down a £200 holding fee for the flat that we looked at. We should be ok again once my money comes through and the deposit comes through from this place, just got a shortfall for about 3 weeks.
  4. I wish it would work for my wife, but she tried it and it didn't help really. She still carried on with the biting no matter how awful it tasted
  5. Seeing as there is a back to school thread I wanted to start a back to uni/college one for the adults on here I am very much looking forward to getting back to uni, I'm going out of my mind with boredom right now. Only 2.5 weeks to go until freshers week at my uni!
  6. Although DLA doesn't require a formal diagnosis it does add weight and evidence to it and they are more likely to take it seriously. Plus it opens other doorways in terms of health and social services (well the potential at least if things are organised properly etc). Plus personally it was good to know for definite from a specialist rather than speculation in my own mind as such.
  7. My wife with OCD does this, sometimes her fingers get infected because of it She bites her finger nails right down until bleeding and the skin around the nails.
  8. We have 2 cats, and they are a great bundle of amusment and joy that have come into our lives. They amuse us with how silly they can be, but also when I'm feeling down one of the cats comes for a cuddle and cheers me up again <'> On the whole they don't need too much attention and as long as they get their food and a little love they are normally fine. Dogs take too much attention really.
  9. There is going to be an anxiety in the workplace one in Bristol afaik.
  10. I have a different religion to my parents mostly because my parents aren't religious in any way. They are pretty secular in most things and have xmas and stuff but not really the religious side of it. I think growing up in a household like that worked out pretty well for me because it gave me the opportunity to question things and make up my own mind about religion.
  11. I haven't played an instrument in about 10 years now I found it quite relaxing and tried a lot of different brass instruments, my favourites were euphonium, trumpet and trombone I tried to learn the guitar but couldn't get the hang of it really.
  12. Thankfully I'll be finished with uni by the time it is up for renewal again
  13. Got letter from DWP today, my DLA has been renewed for another 3 years!
  14. Hey Ian watching the video, there is a sentence that doesn't make sense to me. "... and the visual perceptual world in ASD may be appear to be very different in many ways". I keep going over it in my head but it doesn't sound right.
  15. Happy Birthday Ben! Hope you have a fantastic day
  16. I'm pretty sure that my sensory problems have got worse over the years.
  17. Tom came across to me as being rather frustrated and like he wasn't coping with the home environment. His mum mostly seemed tired and like they all needed a break from each other really. I've had the chance to watch it a couple more times now
  18. I'm excited but also getting a bit nervous about it now. I don't sleep very well away from home and will be sleeping away for 4 nights (staying at treksters house the night before) so am going to be exhausted by the time I get home Even when I go stay with my mum, I don't sleep very well at her house either. At least I know that there will be people there that I know
  19. Ok <'> But it kind of gives the impression that the female aspie/autie perspective view doesn't matter and that is wrong. I personally think that it would have made the documentary a bit more rounded.
  20. One small thing that bugged me about the review and possibly the actual documentary itself. Why all three guys? Couldn't they have had a story about a girl as well rather than just as an afterthought? No offence to Kirsty, you did great Other than that I enjoyed it.
  21. I only managed to catch the second half so will watch it again tomorrow on iplayer.
  22. Happy Birthday
