  1. What a git! I wish I lived closer as you could have my spare tv with pleasure. Check out e-bay for any local ones, most people are happy for cash on collection or may deliver for a small fee. If it were me I'd want it there before the barsteward returned for his - a petty moral victory for you perhaps but also a way of showing you can manage without him!
  2. Hi Paula, above is one of my responses to your original thread. I'm both glad and sorry that my original thoughts on this have proven to be right. Glad because you have finally been proven to be correct regarding your son's difficulties. Sad because, as I said in the last line, things got really rough for you before you have got to where you are now. Is all this down to just bad luck or is it due to incompetence...I don't think it's the former, lets put it that way. I stand in admiration of you. You have had one hell of a fight to date, and I don't think its quite over just yet somehow. Steal yourself for the next bit. You're going to be fought tooth and nail by the same people who did not (would not) see what you could see and they are not going to like your actions now one little bit. You have come this far...for gods sake don't let them get away with this. They have let you down badly, as I said above, you deserve an official apology at the very, very least. Make the b*ggers listen, make the b*ggers apologise - you are one hell of a mum!
  3. You'll have the council after you for that you know - putting non-garden recyclable material in the wrong bin! That had me in stiches. I thought stuff like that only happened here - we have a slightly mad cockatiel who was saved from certain death by being given the kiss of life.
  4. i haven't actually been a gov for about 3 yrs but mrs phas has been, and still is, one for donkeys, she has done primary, high and special schools, so i keep up to date and of course with mrs phas' speciality being admission/exclusion appeals she( and therefore by association me) has to keep up to date on all dfes guidance. plus with all my research for my recent degree i have had to go into many docs in extreme depth.
  5. No the heading does not need to be published in the 'public copy'...the governors version would have a title of say: 'Item 15: Removing doors from staff toilets.' The public version would be: 'Item 15: Confidential item.' That's it! As you say printing the heading of the item being discussed does rather make a mockery of the item being 'confidential' (more so if they then pin it up as well!!)
  6. Great news. Looks like you have struck gold at this meeting (judging by the fact they responded to their obsevartions that quickly!). Hope it goes as well from here on in for you all.
  7. LKS has given you all the info you need for assesment targets. It's the other bit, below, that bothers me: You can if you are worried but, not being able to remember what happened during a meltdown is par for the course in my experience, but the Outreach Team ought to know that!
  8. You do not need a statement to qualify for help with transport. We can see phas jr's school from our house. We got him transported there for the first year and a bit due to the bullying he was suffering on his journey home - he has NEVER benn statemented. Go for it now and hopefuly it can be sorted out over the holiday and be in place upon the start of the new school year...or give you a chance to fight for it before term starts. HTH
  9. I think you were spot on with the way you handled him. I would also recommend you inform the police as others might get taken in by this idiot.
  10. Exclusion figures are normally 'Confidential minutes' available only via the school directly and not normally to anyone except governors. This is because they will reveal information that can identify the chil/ren concerned. Parents are not likely to be allowed access to these minutes.

    diabetes

I have been a diabetic for years. Your figure is the high end of normal but that would be affected by when you last ate before the test was done. Your mum's is a bit too high to be honest (I know they moan at me if my countback test comes out with an average higher than 8mmol) but not enough to worry about too much unless it is always that high or higher. But you're fine.
  12. It was something new today - a change from the norm and perhaps he simply wasn't ready for it. When you get yours you can leave it in the box for a few days to let him get used to it being there. Then you can take it out of the box and have it sitting there for him to explore...slowly get him used to it in a safe familiar place - home. Hopefuly he will then be able to take it at a pace to suit him and, fingers crossed, accept it. I hope so anyway.
  13. Helen, what you could try is backtracking exclusion figures realesed from the DfES through the office of National Statistics. They release national datasets which they break down into regional figures. I have seen these further broken down into smaller chunks and then again into LEA datasets. I haven't seen them go further than that but, armed with that, you may be able to isolate it further if your LEA is open enough to make their figures publicly available...it's a bit of a long shot but here is the ONS web address: http://www.statistics.gov.uk/default.asp

    The child's views

What an amazing insight into his world your young man has given Sendist (and us) here Tez...WOW! Thank you A for letting us share that.
  15. Mrs P believes that what PP have said may be factual, but there may be a way around it. The LEA are supposed to provide a return to the DfES each year covering exclusions, so it may be available that way (by asking for the details of the return). The reason for this is likely to be cited as ensuring that children are not 'named and shamed' as it were by parents getting hold of 'sensitive' details.

    Any help please?

When the DfES issue guidance policies LEA/LA's have to have very good reasons NOT to follow them and they cannot use the excuse of funding either! If they are not matching the provision in this document in their own - ASK THEM WHY?!!!

    Any help please?

LEA = Local Education Authority. LA = Local Authority - same thing different name/term.

    Any help please?

PM me the name of your LEA and I'll poke about their web pages for their policy!

    Any help please?

Ask the LEA for their SEN SPECIFIC transport policy - they ought to have one, this document recommends it as best practice (and it's around 2 years old now). You haven't been consulted, as you should be, simply told HTH

    Swimming lessons

I would suggest that the school have a file of pupils with SEN to take with them when they go to the pool. In it would be a sheet with the pupils photograph and a brief description of their needs...laminated, bearing in mind the enviornment. Very easy to do and, very easy to update. As most instructors operate from poolside they could have it nearby and refer to it if needed. Suggest it to the school!

    class problems

From the schools point of view this scenario makes sense, and offers good value for money from the TA in place for you DD. However, the other girls problems are nothing to do with your daughters provision directly. I would be speaking to the school to clarify whatyou have been told. If it is true (and it is likely to be) then complain. Point out that by putting this girl in the same class as your daughters they are actually making her, no, forcing her, to interact with this child whom she clearly has issues with. This will make your daughter reluctant to attend if this child is allowed to carry on picking her out to 'play with' in the way she is currently doing. Let us know what they say. Don't forget to put this in a letter at the same time as talking to them, so it gets recorded!
