  1. Relieved to know that you're safe.xx
  2. Poor thing.Hope that he's calming down. Some children are more freaked out by injury when there's blood involved.xx
  3. I think that some GP's like the personal touch and the chance to have ongoing involvement in familes;hospital Doctors are usually only involved in acute circumstances. My GP is wondeful. She admits that her knowledge of ASD is not great but always asks about my son and his progress even when I'm consulting her for other reasons.xx
  4. I agree with the money being better spent on other things;both of the above suggestions being useful.xx
  5. The joys of family life,eh? My 7 year old and my 14 year old come to blows quite a lot;there is a lot of goading of 7yo by 14yo,then 10yo backs 14yo (because they are so close) and things escalate. Also, the 7yo knows that he doesn't manage to relate to his siblings as well as the others ,aaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I'm awaiting both Child and family therapy and respite now because the situation has got so bad.You have my extreme sympathy. How about starting a Downtrodden Parents Club?!xx
  6. The whole party business is a minefield for our kids.So far,I've taken the coward' way out and not had a party at all.(My child's birthday is one week before Christmas,so there's so much going on). This year he's desperate for a party,so I'm going to book one with a month to go until Xmas. Hope he enjoys the birthday celebrations-ours have always been 'en famille' and been fine.xx
  7. I think that its heading towards a transition that causes this;everything is about to change, what with holidays/new teachers after holidays etc.Sounds as if the anxiety levels are high at present.xx
  8. Glad that it worked.WooHoo!!!xx
  9. I had a firend whose daughter repeated year 6 and then moved on to Secondary School and went through the 5 years there. It worked out well for her.The child was more ready emotionally with the extra time to mature for a year before the secondary transfer.xx
  10. In our area there are no grammar Schools,so mine have gone to a Comprehensive School.Mine are high achievers and they've all been valued and stretched. These days, teaching is a graduate profession,so all staff have a specialist qualification in their subject as well as a post-gradute teaching qualification. I don't think that one type of School is better than another;there are good and bad in all systems and it comes down to looking and choosing the best school for each individual.xx

  14. http://www.thegraycenter.org/Social_Stories.htm You should be able to find info about social stories from the site above. If your son goes to a specialist placement, they might be able to assist.xx
  15. I would help but my son goes to a Special School.xx

    GROWL

I would make a complaint. The code of practice clearly states 2 weeks notice. You need time to read all the relevant reports and to gather your own thoughts.xx
  18. Is he being rude in the sense of being dismissive of her feelings,or in being unable to think of appropriate lines of conversation? Perhaps he requires some suggestions on good topics for conversation or more of a social story, explaining how to behave in relation to girls.xx
  19. it is so hard to put information across to them in a way that they will accept. There are certain words which definitely qare a no-no.The whole process is like treading on eggshells. ((((((Sparkletastic)))))) xx

  23. I've just had a social worker allocated form the Children with Disabilities team.He is hopeful of getting me a Carer for 2 hours after School every day.I've got Caring for You (a local caregiver) coming to see me on Friday. He is also hopeful of getting SS funding for my son's summer playschemes, too. It has taken a while to get one but so far,so good.xx
  24. ((((((Jools)))))) So often professionals would rather believe that its parents with a problem, rather than kids with special needs.Just harness that anger for any future fights.xx
