  1. Not fallfyrl for nothing - long time fan of a certain Manc indie band. Also, I got married a couple of months ago and the track we played when signing the register was one called Gorecki by Manchester band Lamb - a beutiful song, makes me cry everytime I hear it Vicky
  2. Just finished reading Cider with Roadies - biog of music journo Stuart Maconie and laugh aloud funny. Also re reading Angela Carter's Passion of New Eve, that woman sure has a wierd imagination
  3. This is shocking. The school and its SENCO needs a good kick up the backside. Lucky for your lass shes about to move on (to a more understanding and effective school, fingers crossed) but makes you also feel for any kids with SEN still there. Cant help but think that Ofsted inspections are all too geared up to results, results, results, but if some of these schools where seriously interegated re their SEN performance then maybe things would start to change? Ah well, here's dreaming lol. Vicky
  4. Sending you lots of hugs, sweetheart. <'> Reading your post brought the memories flooding back - I too used to hide out in the loos at lunchtime, or try to escape and go for long walks to daydream. It was only the thought of getting out of that place and going to college that kept me going. And for me it did work out cos the move to a new environment brought new friends who where far more 'mature' and understanding, and on my wavelength So try and stick with your education love and hope that things get better for you too. Vicky
  5. This sounds so typical - our kids just seem to have no fear or sense of danger. Just a thought , but wondered if you felt the fence / boundary to your property needed to be more secure (or maybe 20ft still wouldnt be enough ) - Have you thought about applying for a Disabled Facilities Grant to get adaptations to your home ? I work for a Council and we have provided loads off stuff for ASD kids over recent years, including fencing, padded walls, even bedroom extensions, where health and safety of the child (or their siblings) was at risk. Maybe worth asking for a home assessment by the OT service - the grant is not meanstested for kids (a very well kept secret) and in my experience, if you dont ask you dont get Vicky
  6. Many thanks for the welcome. Yes Flora, it is stressful - it wouldnt seem so bad if I could just remember who the hell everyone is and what they are supposed to be doing! Gone through at least three key workers now from LEA due to sick leave etc. Just wish the statement process and the diagnosis pathway was a bit more co ordinated - everyone doing their own thing, lets hope they finally start sharing info! Ah well Vicky

    Hello

Hiya and welcome - Ive just joined in too and also have two lads Vicky XXX
  8. Ive been lunking about on this site for a while now and have finally plucked up the nerve to introduce myself. I'm Mum to 2 boys, the youngest B is 19months, a bundle of energy and no obvious issues just yet...The eldest is J, 6yrs and currently in middle of both statement and diagnostic pathway process, fully expect diagnosis of Aspergers in not to distant future. Compared to many others on this forum, it seems we are really fortunate in that the school is supporting us all the way - they currently provide 1 to 1 and social support for J at lunch and breaktimes although currently funded from own resources as goes way beyond ESAP. Hopefully the statement (when it finally arrives...) will give a bit more security and peace of mind. From what Ive read you all seem so supportive and Im looking forward to picking those brains as things hot up. This sure is a rollercoaster! Lol Vicky
