  1. Al this sounds ooooohhhhh ssoooooooo familiar lol All day every day yadda yadda yadda yadda you know the stuff
  2. Hi All A lot of wat I feel, along with the sadness and anger, is guilt Guilt because I don't fully understand what goes on inside Z's head and because I can't always get through to her, I don't understand how she has almost no emotions and the biggest guilt of all is because I'm her mum and I can't make this better Zosmum
  3. I've posted a thread the other day about Respiradol. Z's has had to be stopped ASAP as iwas messing about with her blood pressure. She was complaining of feeling dizzy all the time. Maybe L will b better on it All the Best Zosmum
  4. Z completely freaks at the dentist, even if only going for a check up. One dentist refused to see her saying she was a danger to him and his staff. We also had to go down the hospital route as she wouldn't let the dentist do any treatment went into complete meltdown. I don't think the poor guy had ever seen anything like it in his life. She had a general(which is being put to sleep) and it was very traumatic for her and me but again she went into meltdown, The staff weren't very sympathetic and just saw a naughty child and treated her as such. Although they were told about her dx I don't think they understood what it meant. Apparently there are dentists out there that deal with special needs kids and adults Finding them is the difficult bit You have all my sympathy Wishing you all the luck in the world Sending lads of hugs <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> Zosmum
  5. Hi When I did this for Z I included everything form her strange but true behaviours, the not sleeping, the temper tantrums, the violent outbursts to the problems with understanding us, you know the stuff you feel as though you're speaking chinese to an alien. Include motor skills or lack of motor skills the inability to throw, catch a ball etc etc Include every little thing. It can be really quite upsetting putting it all down on paper as when you read it back it shows just how bad things really are. Be prepared for a shock then pat yourself on the back for being able to deal with all this so well followed by a good stiff drink Good Luck
  6. Hi fiorelli Soz not in this particular situation but can sympathise Sending hugs <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> Proberbly doesn't help much, sorry
  7. Hi TheNeil This is so confusing but I say YES you are disabled (Sorry no offence meant) If you were to claim benefits they would say yes you are, to drive a car, yes you are, to go into further education, yes you are I would go back to the rail company and complain. Give them all the disabled person being discriminated against speel. It might work, always worth a try Good Luck
  8. Hi Z scored mostly 1 and 2 in her SAT's but in maths she scored N. ( not scoring enough to reach any level). She had a reader and a scribe for the SAT's but the enviroment didn't help her. In her end of yr 7 tests she had a reader and a scribe for some but not all her tests. Her results were all over the place. In RE she had 2 tests, 1 with help the other without. In the 1 with assistance she attained 84%, I was amazed but in the 1 without assistance she only attained 28%. I am under the impression that kids like ours are and always will be up there with the best of them but getting the schools to realise that these kids are completely different when it comes to the way they learn and they need completely different environments to be able to learn to their full potential is the really difficult part. They often see a child as being able to cope and attaining a reasonable level in tests and assume they are working to their full potential These levels are more for the benefit of the schools and not the kids so I really wouldn't pay to attention to them. Just keep on at the school if you think more help is needed and wanted

    Back from hols

Welcome back NickyB Glad you had a good time despite the weather Enjoy the rest of your time off
  10. Hi Smiley We've already tried Melatonin to help her sleep and that gave her headaches, she's been on equasim XL and Concerta, the concerta went upto around 54mg and didn't make any difference to her behaviour or concentration levels. She's a complete mystery. If you know of anything else we could suggest to her psych I would be very grateful Ever hopefull Zosmum
  11. Don't really have any more advise but sending loads of hugs <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> Hope everything works out for you
  12. Just had an urgent discussion with Z's psych, she was complaining of feeling dizzy all the time due to her new meds(Rispiridone) The psych says to stop them immediately as it sounds like they're messing with her blood pressure. So now it's no more meds and maybe some family support but not sure when. The constant arguing and bickering is doing my head in and I feel like I'm going to explode. C(5NT) has also learned how to wind up Z to the point of explosion and has plenty of bruises to show fo it, when I try to tell her to leave Z alone or else you will get hurt she just laughs at me but then the tears start when she's had another beating. Do you think that this is C's way of getting atttention as Z is constant and demanding 100% of the attention all the time? Zosmum mum to Z ASD, ADHD, Dyspraxia and complex learning difficulties
  13. Just a quick update The sleeping in yesterday must have been a fluke, back to usual self today. Major meltdown this morning cos C stood in front of the tv. Z went up like a firework. She beat C almost to a pulp. Poor C having problems sleeping tonight due to a very sore lump on the back of her head and bruising on her back. Don't know where this is going to end but something has to change soon co we can't take much more of this. Maybe things will be a little better tomorrow, who knows?
  14. So sorry Mumble this sounds terrible but maybe this person will be nice and someone you can learn to trust but as soon as you feel you're not coping don't try to look as though you are, Say something even if it means calling your psych and demanding he/she either listens to what you're saying or will agree to see you Good Luck
  15. <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> Well done and keep your chin up Zosmum
  16. JP Have a good day Zosmum
  17. Thanx Enid Z was on eqyasim but it did nothing so they put her on concerta. We went upto 54mg(Ithink) it may have been more but they didn't do anything either. I think they're now trying to calm her down a bit with the risperidone. She had her first dose last night and although I couldn't tell you what time she fell asleep, she did actually sleep in this morning til 8:40.... Something she's never done before. Here's hoping
  18. Hi Lizzie I think ACORN is a full team of therapists ie-speech and lang, occupational etc all in one place and all working together. Sounds ideal, almost too ideal, being able to see everyone in one place, on one day, all together. That's if I've understood it right but that's what it seems to be. Fingers crossed
  19. Just been for the latest psych appointment with Z. After a lot of dicussion she has put Z on Risperidone (0.5ml twice a day) As she was telling me about the side effects it was just kind of going over my head. She didn't want to say to much in front of Z. I've looked it up on the internet and it all sounds really scary, especially as it's an adults anti-psychotic drug Has any one else used this and what was it like cos some of the side effects sound horrendous? I have to give the psych a call next week to let her know if there's any change in Z's behaviour and if we notice any differences in her. We're hoping that it will have a good effect on her as nothing else has worked and she's desperate to fit in especially at school( which she hates at the best of times) The psych also mentioned ACORN but we may have a 12 month + wait for that one (nothing new there then!!!!)
  20. Hi Z is like this with anything that goes into her mouth. The other day it was that the water tasted horrible, it wasn't the same taste as usual. We all tried it just to see if there was something different but alas my poor nt taste buds couldn't taste a difference She's also the same with seeds, can't eat anything with seeds not even small ones Don't ever try peeling strawberries, it's not good You just got to find what they will eat and try very small variations of it <'>

    We're back

Well we've just got back from 2 weeks away and we survived Not too many meltdowns but Z did try to drown C in the pool Back to the usual school holiday stuff.........Yippee!!!!!
  22. Hi Lizzie Do you think it could have anything to do with it being the end of the school year and all the talk of the holidays, moving up a year in school, new teachers etc. It always affects Z Good Luck Hope you get to the bottom of it soon <'> <'> <'>
  23. Zosmum

    Eye Opener.

This sounds a lot like Z. On a good day gets a slightly higher score than on a bad day. Her levels are always all over the place. If she sits test with a reader and a scribe in a quiet, plain room then her scores are far better than in a conventional setting without support. In recent yr 7 tests she gained an 82% with support but without the support and in an ordinary classroom setting she attained a mere 27%. Don't pay to much attention to the numbers. A lot of what our kids know is in their heads but managing to put it down on paper is where the problems lie. If only the teachers could do more bout it

    Wish us luck

Going on holiday tomorrow and Z seems to be really looking forward to it. She's been an absolute nightmare this past few weeks and we're hoping that is just the break we all need We're going to hte same place, meeting the same people, doing the same things as we do every year so all being well we'll survive Wish us luck cos I think we might need it
  25. Hi A lot of these big stately homes these days have stuff out of reach and roped off. Some even have rooms screened off with clear perspex so there's no chance of touching anything. The owl place sounds really good too
