  1. Sounds like hes got angry depression. I've had angry depression as well and did exactly what he's doing to you. I would try and get some autism friendly counselling as it seems like he's got depression on top of his aspergers. You could try going together or seperately. Does he have any other support apart from you for his aspergers? Is there any way you can help improve this support with his permission of course.
  2. Welcome back not sure what happened with getting emails from you. Hope you manage to get some support soon.
  3. Any chance you can get family counselling or social services to give you some respite? Please don't dismiss his upset as being a child. Many autistics struggle when things go wrong and any change is upsetting for them. When overloaded autistics cannot think calmly about a situation. He does need a healthier outlet for hid anger though.
  4. Hi might be happy with no social life some autistics are fine with being solitary creatures.
  5. Hi I'm trekster Are there any asd out of school clubs in your area? Another idea could be mencap Sumner clubs? I'm on my phone at the moment so can't tell what area you're from. If you private message me I can look and see what's in you're area. There's also phab physically handicapped amd able bodied people which run clubs around the country. Welcome to the site.

    Hello all

Hi and welcome I was also diagnosed in the mid 90s and got reactive depression as a result. Donington an autism degree with me as my own case study and going gluten and dairy free really helped me. Hope you can find some support here.
  7. Hi I'm not a parent but did find the lack of routine due to no school a bit much. Could it also be a hidden pain issue? I'm unable to express pain in a conventional way. Hope you find the support you need here.

    It was worth it:)

You both showed them we'll done. That's better grades than mine and I wasn't diagnosed at the time.
  9. Welcome you might want to try contacting ARGH which rin in the highlands. Or do an online search "adult autism + (name of your county)" or "adult aspergers + (name of your county)".
  10. I think it's because the mother cannot cope and so you are being left to look after the children in their eyes is the problem. Although you are doing the right thing by making sure she doesn't proverbially drown in her depression for some reason the social have interpreted this as something else. I don't understand why family therapy isn't being offered in this case? I'm suspecting your friends mh is being sadly used against her, especially if one of her challenges is borderline personality disorder which many professionals dont get. Hope I'm making sense here?
  11. Hope they can help you.

  14. Hello and welcome It does sound like he could have asd. Do you think he would be welcome about a possible diagnosis? There are a few support groups in Glasgow for asd. Including a few pub groups. You might want to contact number 6 in Edinburgh if they're still going. Hth Ally

  16. Welcome you've joined this site and I hope it helps you find the right support. We're you diagnosed by cahms? They're the mental health team for children and young people under the nhs. They should be offering you post diagnostic support. There are a few autism fb groups online. There's also the annual autscape retret which has a closing date of 30th July to book. Are there any asd social groups in your area? That's where most of my friends are from.

    What now

Welcome you've signed up for here which is a great idea. It can be a shock to get a diagnosis but hopefully you will be able to work through it and find a useful outlet for your talents and abilities. Do you wish to meet other asperger folk in your area? The national autistic society could help you find a local branch or group. Are you struggling financially? Personal independence payment could help you if you have support and or mobility needs. Have you been offered any post diagnostic support or counselling in your area? Contact your nhs post diagnostic service. Whereabouts in the uk are you county wise? I could do a search to see if there's any local support or groups in your area? Locations dont show up on my phone.
  18. Hi and welcome I've sent you a private message.

    hi

Welcome go the forum. Melatonin is likely to be more successful and is safer than alcohol.
  20. First of all this isn't blown out of proportion fir us. We can't communicate how were feeling at the time. Punishing a meltdown would be discrimination since its part of autism. There are some really good books out there for meltdowns. "When my autism gets too big" is one but might be a bit young for her. "Aspergers and adolescence" "Aspergers syndrome and difficult moments practical solutions for tantrum rage and meltdown" "People with autism behaving badly" (although I really dislike the term behaving badly this book is really understanding towards autustic minds). Hope some of these books hekp you.
  21. I know the feeling unfortunately. You can make noise after 7pm until 11pm by law. Outside of those times is considered noise pollution. Your neighbours are behaving unreasonably.
  22. Easter can trigger off my ptsd because it holds bad memories for me.
  23. Love the description. I'm sad that the new chekov died recently. Wondering if that's why the films been delayed screening in the uk
  24. Hello all I am considering setting up a support group to run one evening a month in the Filton area of bristol. Can anyone recommend any good pubs or cafes around that area? It has to be near abbey wood station and university Frenchay campus uwe.
  25. Hi and welcome you might want to post in the school section of the boards when you have time.
