Well at least another 6 or 7 babies have appeared over night African land snails like a fairly constant temperature of about 23 degrees, the higher the temperature the more active they are and the more they will eat. Mine are in a glass tank with a heat mat under part of it to keep them warm and active otherwise they will hibernate. They need a constant supply of calcium, I use cuttlefish. Mine are kept on peat, but that's getting hard to come by...as long as the soil doesn't contain fertiliser or chemicals it should be ok. Depending on size of tank, size and quantity of snails they can be cleaned out weekly/fortnightly. They love to eat leafy green veg...you soon learn what their favourites are!!! It's also a good idea to spray the soil with a fine mist of water each day to keep the humidity high. Not too difficult really

does anyone feel lonely with their autistic child?
bikergal replied to Julieanne's topic in General Discussion
Yes, very lonely. I feel very sad that the world seems to have such a big problem with her and that the world is such a big problem for her. It just never seems to end, I sometimes feel so trapped...that I'm never going to have a life ever again because she is so dependent on me. Then I feel guilty because I know how hard life is for her, and that I'm probably the only one that understands her, which is why she clings to me so tightly. She is having a tough time at the moment, I just wish people would accept her for who she is. This morning she pulled one of her cuddly toys out from the cupboard (it's one of those one's that play 'happy birthday' when you press its tummy), pressed its tummy and looked at me. I said "that's why you wanted that out" (she hadn't played with it for ages), she gave me a HUGE grin, I gave her a hug...like hugging a piece of stiff wood....but that moment was priceless. She actually thought of me. -

I'll try to get some pics in the next day or so, and try to put a link up. Have never done that before, so it could take a while....

On Friday I got up to discover 6 little baby snails gliding round the tank Two of the adult african land snails are live bearers so at least one of them must have had a rough night! They're so cute Dd1 is fascinated by them, they're a welcome distraction right now

Ben,M,J,Steve! Been away at a drumming weekend, camping on my own for first time I had a couple of wobbly moments but did really enjoy it. I've never done anything like that before. It was great, made some new friends and it felt like one big family . Also made me realise a few things I probably didn't want to think about, hey ho, but a very positive experience. Shame I had to return to my reality, which is pretty tough right now.

I used to be into bikes but I'm kind of an ex biker at the moment! Sold my last bike just before Christmas, was a cbr. I expect I'll go back to it one day, I'm really into my drumming now
