When I first joined, I soon found out that I wasn't on my own anymore, people understood how I felt and members were going through the same 'stuff' as me. Telling friends some of the things that were happening to us was ok (school/LEA stuff), but people here really understood and helped point me in the right direction for getting my son support. Thanks All! Annie xx <'> -

Hi Viper We went through similar and I know how horrible it is , I used take away a favourite toy and in the end gave in because everything used to escalate. I know it's easier said than done, but the only thing that worked was to stay strong and be really consistant (with us it seemed like it took forever). It wore me down because at times it felt as though we wasn't getting anywhere, but eventually we got there in the end. Annie xx <'>

<'> JsMum <'> My heart goes out to you. It sounds as though SS are causing more problems than supporting you and your son. I don't know if you've tried them before, but if I remember rightly a few members have found thatThe Princess Royal Trust for Carers are very helpful. Also, as Loraine has said, involve your GP because your wellbeing is important too. Annie xx

Alex used to cover his bedroom floor in 3D pylons that he'd make out of paper/card/Sellotape. It was one of his earliest obsessions. It went from pylons to sharks, then dinosaurs. We had them everywhere.

Hi Clare, Alex was never able to cope with school so, for a while I used to write sick notes stating stress/anxiety when things got too much for him. When it was clear that he was struggling, our GP wrote a letter to us/school/LEA stating ......... This young man who is diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome is currently unable to attend school because he is extremely anxious and agitated. I believe this centres around a number of recent issues and incidents which have happened at school. I understand that these will be formally discussed in a meeting at a review of his Statement of Needs and I agree with his parents that he should remain at home until these problems are resolved. This was accepted by the school/LEA and he didn't go back into education until an agreed package was made to meet his needs (not at the school concerned ) Annie xx
