  2. Hi J's mum, It's well worth persevering with the theory test, lots and lots of practise; there's a dvd which really helped me understand the hazard perception, and here's a link to the theory tests to practise- if you fill in the registration, there's a link to free practise tests...it's about four years ago since I took mine, so I can't remember where I got the dvd from, it might be the driving standards agency... s xxx http://www.theory-tests.co.uk/home/
  3. My son has a fantastic OT; who explain midline problems as...i magine your child as having a line from their head to toe all the way through the middle of their body....most people would use a certain hand depending on what postion they were in..for example writing...if a child had midline probs...they not sure which side to use..which could cause awkwardness...and they compensate by picking the pen up with one hand and swapping it to the hand they would write with....
  4. <'> Thanks. (I did avoid the crowds a bit by letting them all go past and going up the stairs last) and I checked my route with the staff who were really helpful. The kids were warned to stay with me, I was really scared they would get lost, but they were very good. (I put my mobile number in their pockets)Looking forward to seeing you all again (promise not to nick the brownies Baggy) s xxx ps BD yes they still got bubble magic
  5. I took the kids to London...by myself...negoitiated the underground..... by myself.....we went to the science muesum (have been before, with a friend)to the launch pad which was fantastic so much to see, do and touch...spent 2 hours in that one bit....son( 11 ASD)was totatally fascinated with the 'ball launcher'........where you have to line up some hoops....set the angle...and drop a ball and try and make it go through the hoops...he managed it on his third go....the 'explainer' was so impressed...it can take some half an hour to get anywhere near...........we went and saw the 'Lion King' for my little girls birthday, it was just beautiful...the kids were so, so good...........and you poor unlucky lot...now I've managed to do that.....you might have to put up with us at the Greenwich meetup...if you'll have us along as well......was too scared to come last year............ s xxx
  6. Hi deejar, (what does NO stand for? is it nursery officer?) She seems a bit confused about the whole process. You are right, these assessments are needed as PART of the statutory assessment where all the professionals send their reports back to the LEA. You can phone them yourself to chase up their reports to make sure they make the deadline. The LEA 'should' base the statement on these reports. Your son may come into contact with the professionals at a later date when he is at school, but the whole point is that the statutory assessment finds out what he needs. I should add, that a statutory assessment couldn't happen without these assessments. If the LEA have agreed to assess, you should have a case worker at the LEA that you can contact with any queries about the process. Or Parent partnership, I don't think the LEA are playing games, the NO(whoever she is?!) really doesn't seem to understand what a statutory assessment entails. s xxx

  8. I think that with Bill's response to the school, which has now happened twice, the head will have to relate that back to the tribunal on Thursday, if she is in agreement with you that the school is unsuitable for Bill, and is prepared to say so,... after all, having a pupil who can't even bear to get through the school gates is going to take a huge amount of work on her part....and she's the LEA's witness...uummmm.... s xxx
  9. Hi Flozza....is this the BESD school you visited a few weeks earlier....? The heads reaction to Bill's shut down response is interesting...did you get that in writing in the end? That could prove very valuable. Also, does this school have provision for Bill academically? If the children are what you are describing, then probably no, and would be unsuitable from that angle. s xxx
  10. very sorry for you and your boys, mrs P, it's a big shock, hope these messages show how well thought of Phas was, and give you all a little comfort. I remember how funny he was, and how he always put himself out when someone was having a crisis. s xxx
  11. sorry I missed this everyone, it was my birthday, but I took it off the calendar a few days before. Thankyou. s xxx
  12. Hi Blue fish, have you talked to your mum about why she was upset? what did she say? I think perhaps it could be a catch 22 situation- he was squealing because he was naked in a river in February- maybe if he had been squealing because for example; he had been splashing in a puddle, with his clothes on -she wouldn't have been embarrassed? s xxx
  13. Baggy, <'> something that I found out while I was looking at schools for my son, was that the LEA don't always send all a childs paperwork to a school, so a school might say, yes we can meet that child's needs with out getting a true, complete picture of that child, so if you visit the school you don't want your dd to go to, take any paper work which gives an accurate picture of your dd, show it to the school, and then persuade the school to say- put in writing to the LEA it can't meet your dd needs .It blocks the door, and the LEA will have to start listening. s XXX

  21. .....call back who you saw on January 10 and say his behaviour is deteriorating, and you urgently need help.Put the baby in her cot, scoop Charlie up, get him dressed, make a game of it if you can, a race against the timer and Charlie wins of course. Get them off to nursery and school, and come home for a cup of tea, then you can make that phone call, sorry if this is rubbish advice.s xxx

    I'm so confused!

[quote name='Flora' date='Feb 3 2008, 10:50 AM' post='1955 I'm on to it on both counts and are the schools sending letters directly to the LEA as well as evidence for the tribunal???

    I'm so confused!

.......just had another thought.........would the BESD school be persuaded to say that they can't meet Bill's needs, due to his anxieties and sensory difficulties. That would really put a spanner in the LEA'S work's, wouldn't it? s xxx
