Got 2 more lovely boy guineas today  got them from freecycle which is where I got the others from. These 2 have been handled much more and are very friendly. Dd1 has claimed the one that has the same colour hair as her

Not all freecycle groups allow the rehoming of animals, I'm a member of 2 groups and one of them does allow it (which is great for us). The new guineas are different types to the other 2, dd1 knows all the different types of guinea pig breed, and most of the cat and dog ones and their varying temperaments! And yes her main obsession is animals...I missed out the horses....:whistle: The new pair squeak VERY loudly!

I'd ask at reception - an honest person may have handed it in :P:lol:

Mumble's positive - I moved!! :) My new room's lovely, although I'm surrounded by boxes trying to work out how stuff that filled a room 3 times the size will fit into this room :( I've grown muscles carrying the boxes, although walking into the doorframe, skinning my arm, and in the shock of doing so dropping a box of books on my toe wasn't quite so clever :tearful:.

I'm currently trying to come up with a cunning plan for getting out of the socialising this evening.

Am I allowed two positives in a day? Well I'm going to. :)

Went to dinner with 400 students. Sat in the corner trying to avoid people but one student (poor girl ) came over and sat with me and started chatting away about something or other. I was able to answer some of her questions though and think I passed (almost) 'normal conversation'. Not much of a positive for most people I realise, but it was for me.

I'm avoiding the drinks and socialising now though. One of the senior students asked me if I was coming and I just said I was very tired, my foot was hurting (it is all bandaged up so that was pretty obvious) and I'd rather not and she was fine and left me alone.

but tomorrows another day I'm hoping!

Tomorrow is another day - it's Sunday roast day :eat:

I suggest eating a large tub of Ben & Jerry's :eat1: or consuming a large glass of wine :wine: then you have a positive for today. In fact, I insist you have a large glass of wine :wine: to celebrate my new room!!!!! - call it a long distance house warming!!

Not posted anything in here for a while.

So as a general positive my teacher training is going well so far. The last week I have been on a Primary Placement which was good fun. Still not sure if I prefer Primary or Secondary to be honest. Would do both if I could. Sounds like the neighbouring secondary had teachers visit the Primary fairly often to take lessons. Might see if I can convince any secondary I work at long term to allow me to do that. Also whilst there visited my old Secondary School with a PE group from the Primary. Met one of my old teachers so it was interesting to hear what was going on at the school. Spent the majority of my time in Years 1, 4, 5 and 6. The lads seemed to enjoy having a man around the school to work with too.

Now for today. Went up to Lindisfarne today. Had a good time. Took a few photos. Will try and upload some of them tomorrow. I know you lot like photos. :)

EDIT: Congrats on the new room Mumble. Hope this one suites you better than the last one did. Hows Uni going at the moment. Lost track a bit whilst I was in Kenya. In fact feel a bit behind on a lot of things. Not had time to sit down and have a read through all the back posts. I'm certainly been kept busy. :)

Well primary certainly needs more male teachers. I don't necessarily think it would make difference to the behaviour etc etc that it is said it would, I just think it's good to have a balance and for kids to see males and females in all jobs.

Secondary teachers taking top primary lessons is an excellent idea - even better if the primary kids can come and use the secondary school equipment. We did this when I was at primary for science and it is one of the few things I remember clearly and positively.

If you want to do both primary and secondary, have you considered middle-school teaching - it limits your areas a bit as not many LEAs have them but would give you experience of both. What does your course allow you to teach? Mine covered to 13 (I took that option) so covers early secondary/KS3.

Great news on both counts, Smiley!

I had a lovely positive today. I'd been worrying a bit that I hadn't got Christmas presents sorted out for my friend in America (I know it's early but I need it all wrapped and parceled up by mid-October). I usually get stuff for her kids in the Dec/Jan sales - Christmas tat for their stockings, mostly, and I knew I didn't have any. Was thinking I would have to tell her I'd be toning down Christmas this year and didn't want to. So I had a look in the cupboards and guess what I found! Only half of bloo*y Marks and Spencers! and Boots, and Lakeland...I've got more Christmas presents in than you can shake a stick at, so hardly any shopping to do this year!

Hurrah! Think I'll go and write my cards out now...

Go Mumble! :dance::dance::notworthy::notworthy::thumbs:

Positive - Mr (Horrible) Head is beginning to realise how much a certain little monkeys mummy knows about Ed things....... . He seemed to think the dippy blonde hippy who looks quite harnless (if he calls me 'sweet' one more time.. ), couldn't possibly be a senco or work with SN kiddies herself... OR know the phone number for IPSEA... Arghhhhhhh! :wallbash:

And lil monkey had a great, great day.

I have sooo much work to do tonight, before I go to work tomorrow. Several deadlines that need to be met by Monday. 60 books to mark...

I've just spent 10 minutes dancing with my son. It's never been something he or I have done, but I went into his room to check before lights out, and he was listening to a Levellers CD. The track came on, and he jumped up and began to waltz with me. We are poor dancers, but it was fun!

The track was 'Together all the way' and some of the lyrics seem apt for our gang.

Dare you look to the future

the speed the pages turn.

Today, your hope

for tomorrow, is to smile anyway today.

Don't pray to a god

we're in this together all the way.

From the old to the young

and from the cradle to the grave

Look to yourself

because there's plenty of wealth

in us all

if we fight the good fight

then they?re gonna have to fall to us all.

We danced through 3 repeats, then he went to bed.
