    statement

Hi, on the last page of my son's statement it says he has a social worker. According to the lea they have to put down everyones name who they contacted for advice. It just says, name of social worker: joe bloggs, we don't have a social worker . Is it correct that this is the same on all statements? I hope this makes sense!!

    Statement

my AS son has a statement just because of his behaviour. He has no learning difficulties, he is in all the top sets.
  3. Yu Gi Oh and magic tricks. My boy is completely obsessed!!
  4. Just wanna say thanks for your lovely replies <'> This new school seems great and it's got a lovely friendly atmosphere, fingers crossed it stays that way In the corridor of the school they have a positive box where you can write notes and leave them in the box for the staff to read, Joe took it upon himself to use it and he wrote.... I've had the best few days of my life, here at ---- ---- school!
  5. Hello everyone, I haven't been on here for ages due to house move and waiting for broadband to be installed. Joe my 9yr old AS son has started his new school with his recently acquired statement, he gets 15 hours support so he only goes to school till 12 0'clock, therefore his support is fulltime at the moment. Anyway the results are amazing he is sooo happy . He hasn't had any problems at all so far and it's been two weeks since he started, this is really great and I'm so happy for him, I hope it continues but we'll have to wait and see. The only downside is that I'm now having problems with my 6yr old supposedly NT son. He has also been there 2 weeks and has already been threatened with exclusion . So I'm having to bring him home for lunch for an indefinite period, this means I have to go there 4 times a day which is really restricting. He is being violent so it's understandable. I had a meeting with the head who totally unexpectedly told me that the ed psych had seen my 6yr old and said that he is on the same spectrum as joe needless to say I'm stunned. I don't know what I'm going to do but I really don't fancy another onslaught of assessments, meetings, etc etc. I have also been told that 6yr old has a reading age of at least 12yrs and his maths is amazing and he is gifted and talented, it's all quite confusing for me at the moment, think it's all gonna take a while to sink in.
  6. There's a saying "those who shout loudest....." well for me it's true. It has taken me four years to get the dx. I know now that if I had demanded a dx years ago I would have got it. It was a teacher from an autistic unit at a special school who gave me this advice and it definitley works. Don't let everyone fob you off , demand answers!!! Good luck <'>
  7. hi I think my last post said that I was moving to montenegro, well since then I've put on my sensible head and have decided to do the right thing and stay here and fight! My AS son has been out of school since march while we went through the statement process. The proposed statement was for 10 hours support, yeah right anyway this has been upped to 15. I am now battling to get him into a mainstream school, I didn't realise what was instore. The school in question won't have him with anything less than full time support and I'm realising all schools will say the same, I realise that the lea can force him in but it's hardly ideal. So i'm currently waiting till after half term for the school to respond to the idea of part time school with 15 hours support. I have withdrawn my younger son from school to try to put the pressure on but that may not go down too well, I've said he can start at said school as soon as we have confirmation that AS son can go there. So I'll either get what I want or I'll end up in prison for not sending the kids to school, but if I do end up in the nick I'll make sure I get publicity and get our plight into the headlines!!
  8. my son was tested for fragile x after he was diagnosed with aspergers. The nhs consultant who did the diagnosis referred him.
  9. My ds had meningitis and septacemia when he was 2. He has just been diagnosed with aspergers. I wonder if there is a connection? Nice to hear that your ds had a good time and made a friend.
  10. we finally got the dx of aspergers, now I'm finding it hard to believe. I don't understand why i feel like this. Does anyone understand/been there?
  11. The letter has arrived!! It says they used Autism Diagnostic Interview- Revised or ADI-R for short. The scores from the interview along with other information from assessments from other professionals would be consistent with a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome in J. So we have the dx at last, I thought I would feel relieved or something but I just don't feel any different really.I'm happy to know at last.
  12. a couple with two autistic children moving to scotland, it's on now.
  13. I can't believe that arrogant b****** won
  14. The postman has been and no letter from the hospital
  15. yesterday my youngest son age 6 said "mum I'm fragment" I said ""oh really thats nice dear" he said " yes, and it means I'm going to have a baby"!!
  16. I have two boys eldest is 8 and diagnosed aspergers (almost dx find out tomorrow) youngest is 6 and is on school action plus because of fine motor skills, behaviour, aggression and social skills. Am beginning to wonder if he too has asd but can't quite face another onslaught of appointments etc.... I'm exhausted!!!!!!
  17. His autistic daughter did spring to mind when I was trying to fathom why on earth I would dream what I did, but I hadn't thought about that for ages when I had the dream. I've always liked Ronan though so maybe in my dream state anyone from boyzone would do!!!!
  18. Thanks fairies, I need all the encouragement I can get at the mo. As you can probably imagine this is a really hard decision to make, I'm giving up a happy comfortable life where I own my house outright (no mortgage) and going off into the unknown. But I have always wanted to do this ,it just spurred me on when the english education let me down. I don't live in a very good area anyway and there is no future here for my kids, unless you count hanging around the corner shop drinking and doing drugs and god knows what else, at least abroad they'll have fresh air and open space to play in.
  19. Thanks Tally, that's what I thought. I'm not planning on telling them about his aspergers, I just thought they would give him a break cos he's bound to be weird cos he's foreign. You are spot on!!
  20. what did everyone think about Eugene taking the fifty grand? should he still win?
  21. There are international school's but I can't afford them. They do recognise special needs kids and don't have a backward approach to them but I haven't found any info yet on asd specificly. They do seem to have a good system for more able kids and if you struggle in a certain subject you have the right to redo the year or just certain subjects in after school lessons.
  22. A couple of years ago the clinical psychologist at cahms did an assessment on my son and in her report she said J's problems could be due to asd or because he had had an eventful life!!!!!!! what a load of b******s!! Don't let them get you down, they don't know what they're talking about, if it's not in a text book they don't get it and don't seem to have any understanding of the implications when they spout off like this. Power to the parents!!! We are the experts and we didn't need an open university degree to get where we are, we had hands on experience! Here's a hug for you <'> <'> <'>
  23. Johnny Depp's not bad but.......... I dreamt that I was in love with Keiran off corrie the other night I don't get it it cos I don't even fancy him.......or should that be didn't!!!!!!! The mind is truly amazing, makes you live a fantasy that you didn't know you wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. hi, I know this is a difficult question to answer but, I've just sold my house and am intending to move to MONTENEGRO just because the property is cheap, the lifestyle is better and it looks beautiful, the question is, how on earth is my aspergers 8 year old going to cope in a school where they speak serbian? I've tried to weigh up the pro's and con's and the way I see it is, he has struggled through mainstream till march this year and regardless off all our battles with health/education professionals he has ended up thrown out of school, so how could it possibly be any worse for him? I've read up on the education law in montenegro and they cannot expel a pupil, they can transfer them to another school though. Also they are just getting to grips with the whole inclusion thing?!! any thoughts on this anyone?
  25. I'm in stitches, that is hilarious!
