    good news

How lovely for Steve, what a great start to the new school
  5. No l dont think we do have this sevice, our LEA is rubbish, they promised they would phone me back this afternoon, but surprise, surprise no call!! If Nick gets violent tommorow l will have to call the police, at least somebody might do something then
  6. It must be really hard for you with a baby as well to cope with, when my son Nick was at school l also used to dread him coming home so you are not alone. If you want direct payment you really have to push social services, l get them for Nick and it is a great system as you can employ the right person for your son.You need to ring them everyday and make your vice heard. Sending lots of <'> <'>
  7. Thanks everyone for your support, things are no better, l think we have had enough of each other, he cant even leave me alone at work, this afternoon he called me 3 times calling me names and swearing at me because he couldnt find his train pass!!!Good job work is understanding or l would have lost my job by now!! He is out on his bike after l told him not to go out as he doesnt have any lights, but he just got abusive and went anyway. Cant seem to stop crying today which dosent do anything to help the suituation, l think its my hormones as l usually cope quite well. Anyway l am off now to see my gorgous baby grandaughter, she is 5 months and the best tonic going, Nick can do what he likes l need a break
  8. Im having a really bad week, Nick was so good last week but this week he is the child from hell!!Anything l say is wrong and if l ask him to do anything he wont, l am so fed up of the constant battle, and l find myself in tears most of the day. When l see kids going to school, laughing and joking with there friends it tears me up inside and l just find myself crying. Havin him home 24/7 dosent help, he just wants to lie in bed all day and eat, he has put on so much weight it is a real worry, l feel that we are both in a big black hole that we cant get out of Nick really needs a residential school, but the LEA will not budge, l really hate them!!
  9. Do you think one of the kids might have got hold of it? When Nick is really angry with me he always tries to destroy it!!

    good news

Thats fantastic. l am so pleased for you both
  11. Good for you, it is a shame we all have to fight so hard to get the right support for our kids.
  12. My son is starting college in Sept and he is 14. He will be doing mathes, english and science GCSE plus his practical course which will be catering. We looked round the college and were very impressed, they have there own unit for 14-16year olds, the classes are very small and there are a lot of classrom assistants. My son Nick is very keen as he has been out of school for a year. It will be funded by the LEA as Nick has a statement. Hope this is helpfull.
  13. How wonderfull, what a great insperation you both are to all of us wondering "what happens after school" Well done to JP
  14. Fingers crossed for you both, hopefully the footie will take his mind off going back. How long is the journey for him?
  15. Bless him our Aspie kids our so lovely sometimes!!!
  16. How wonderfull, have a great time in London
  17. I work in a restaurant myself and l cant believe what you went through. Tonight we had a family in with a girl who l think was autistic, we were full and were asking people to wait in the bar for a table, well the girl visibly panicked and got upset as there wasent a table, she really didnt want to go in the bar and was screaming and getting really upset, well because of Nick l recognised that she was prob autistic and we put them to the top of the list straight away and they had a table in minuites. The mum was so gratefull as she was embarresed about the fuss her daughter was making. I cant believe what happened to you, we have lots of special needs kids in and they are all welcome, but you would not believe the reaction of other diners, some of them really huff and puff and ask to be moved if they a seated next to them!!!some members of the general public are really not very nice.
  18. My darling son recognised the fact that l had put myself out for him and he said thanks and bought me some flowers!!!I nearly cried its only taken 14 years!!!!
  19. Stella, been there, done it, got the tee shirt!!! Nick was arrested a few months back for attacking me, l know what you are going through and you are not alone honey, sending lots of <'> <'> stay strong for the rest of your family. Nick does not go to school at the moment as he gets too stressed and anxious, however in sept he is going to college, our college has a unit for 14 to 16 year olds who find school difficult, it looks really good and Nick is very keen, maybe you could make enquiries at your college? Hope things improve and he continues to go to school.
  20. JsMum, SS are just useless, we begged for help a few months ago and they did nothing, apparentely if they hit you it is ok, but if it is the other way round they can go into care!!! We get direct payments for Nick, it is great as l can employ someone for Nick that l think is suitable, and more importantly someone that Nick likes, you ought to ask your social worker about the scheme. Keep strong sending lots of <'> <'> <'>
  21. Oh Stella thank god there is someone else that thinks the police siren and helecopter has something to do with their son!!! I feel sick every time Nick goes out on his bike, not only does he have the worst temper, he will talk to anyone, l just know that one day he will get into serious trouble, l have talked to social services but they dont want to know!!You are not alone hun
  22. Hi biffsmun and welcome to the mad house!! It is really hard to know the difference between aspergers, puberty and normal teenage behaviour, we were only discussing this in a previous thread, its called teenagers!! under general disscussion (sorry l dont know how to do the link thing!!) No doubt someone will be able to do this. You can join our club!! Sending lots of <'> <'> <'>

    it was awful

Hi Hev, You need to be positive about things, at least he got in the taxi in the end, if it was Nick he would have jumped out as soon as the taxi stopped at the first set of lights!!!! Steve is doing really well and you have to expect him to kick off when it is time to go back to school, things will get better soon. <'>

    DLA

When l renewed our DLA l just put down what l had put previously, l added a few extra problems that we have with Nick and l got it again ok, so l wouldnt worry too much, you should be fine.
  25. L would be really interested to know why ASD kids like to wrap themselves up in a blanket, quilts, etc. Nick wants to wrap himself up when he watches tely, eats, plays the computor, his quilt gets dragged around everywhere, he is 14 will he grow out of it!!!
