  1. twin 1 has just done exactley the same thing he did last year put a football through another window this time youngest dd was sitting beside it,but for his quick reaction he would have been killed, the window fell inwards and on his seat was 2 big parts of the glass but the hardest part of all was he showed no empathy towards doing it 1 hour later he was laughing and joking with his other brothers like nothing had ever happened,he did say sorry to me about 4 hours after it happened and then apologized to his dad this morning, but people keep saying there is nothing wrong with the twins this is only week1 of the hols and ive had enough,as me an hubby dont work we cant take them anywhere (never enough money) we have to fork out for their school uniforms every year as there is no grant anymore to help us,so we are stuck at home with them for 6 whole long weeks, but on the upside i went to the docs bout a month ago and really got stuck into him about the 2 of them said i was sick of people pooh-poohing the idea there was something wrong with them the upshot is he is writing to a peadiatric neurologist in oxford to see the twins as i will not see anyone from my area as every time i go to one of them they just practically laugh at me an hubby when we describe the twins's symptoms (no one in our area remotley qualified in asd/aspergers) and also we received their reports towards the end of summer to discover in 2 years that they have not moved up much in grading upshot of that received a phone call from a lady who deals with special needs involving parents to say her an me will be having a meeting with our senco teacher in september i am dying to say to her i told you so but will refrain as i have been telling that bl***y school for years they were not learning now i have the proof sorry to have a moan i just feel like ive been doing this for years karin
  2. i know we are not supposed to give out details on the forum but im wondering if anyone can help me ive been given a doctors name in oxford who my 2dd's might be going to see,i do not live anywhere near oxford if anyone one does can they pm me and i will give them the doctors name, its just curiosity to see if anyone on the forum has saw this doctor if this is not suitable the forum co-ordinators can remove my post thanks for helping if you can keep smilin luv karin

  4. hi viper sending you these <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> <'> what a horrible person she is what right has she to judge you she doesn't live with your child know how you feel for years me an hubby were sleep deprived by my 2 only sleeping 5 hours every nite this went on for 6 years and it kills you,no human can survive over long periods of sleep deprivation. did you get the melatonin? if you didn't go to your gp and demand it from him, last year we saw a specialist for the twins and the only good that came out of it was that he prescribed melatonin for the twins what a life saver it was and a year on they are still on it and it is still working for them and us,its great to be back in the land of the living, funny how we have to meet a lot of these so called ill informed experts along our road we travel (gettin philisophical) don't take any of her **** get along to your gp and sort this out now girl you owe it to yourself and your sanity keep smilin luv karin
  5. i read this topic with interest and i would just like to thank zemanski you have summed up my 2 to a tee the reason i now know why ive been banging my head against a brick wall concerning school was what you said about your son, they do the same to they can hide it very well which made me think i was going mad,the senco teacher looks at me like ive escaped from a loony bin when i explain what they are like at home ive begun to realise a lot about my 2 in the last year and noticed a lot more by watching them and writing a lot down hope this post makes sense (no ive not been drinking) haha keep smilin luv karin
  6. tylers-mum my 2 are they same what i have discovered is that they are visual thinkers they can spell their words if they can see them get what i mean? they think visually as well it took me an hubby a long time to realise this it dawned on us when they were doing little spelling tests at home with us if we said the word they invariably got it wrong but if they could see the word they got it so right but not all the time, but the funny thing is when not in school they cant spell for toffee have kept copies of their handwriting they do at home for when i see the next specialist wish me luck hope this helps u keep smilin luv karin
  7. hi tilly my 2 were exactley the same but i have encouraged them to join a footy team and they love it,but at times they want to stay at home in their pyjamas with the curtains shut i think with children like ours its swings and roundabouts some days my 2 want to stay outdoors till the cows come home and other days they dont want to know the outside world i think its their way of coping with things keep trying to coax her to do things it will improve good luck keep smilin luv karin

    Football

karen t it is like reading about my 2 they have always played footy (nearly 10 now) love it would play it till the cows come home, same as you when it comes to watching a match cannot sit at peace jump up and down go upstairs an downstairs for the whole 90mins then asked what happened, their da is a big footy fan an often goes away to watch matches but will not take them with him till they can sit at peace,an often at school will get into trouble as they argue with everybody about the rules often end up in fights with boys at school because of it an are obsessed with collecting the cards so much so i will become a life member of panini on the web site ordering the blooming things haha. i decided to let them join a local team when they were bout 6 explained to the coach what they were like an probs they had (no diagnosis) but they have been great with them an they have come on a treat so much so this is their 4th year of doing it and to be honest i dont mind it keeps them out of trouble haha when they are at footy they never ever show much signs of their aspies they seem to keep it well hidden probably dont want to stand out in the crowd so to speak hope this helps keep smilin luv karin
  10. yes justamom my 2 talk loudly ll the time and even shout we keep telling them we are not deaf but it makes no difference although they have sensory probs i.e.don't loke loud noises or bangs fireworks that is what amazes me they talk so loudly i have to continually tell them to be quiet, they have been for loads of hearing tests but their hearing is perfectly normal i think i read somewhere on this site that it has to do with the inner ear maybe someone will remember this on the site apart from that nothing else to add but your not the only one but i have 2 think i will need a hearing aid by the time im 50 haha keep smilin luv karin
  11. zemanski thank you so much for explaining this to us i have been trying to find out why my twins are like the way they are its difficult to get people to understand why they dont feel hungry and why we need to constantly feed them people or specialists think there is something wrong with us and look at us funny when we try to describe this to them what is the propricocetor sensory system? do we have a thread on this once again thanks you have cheered me up no end now i know why my children are like the way they are, although twin1 stlll insists in visiting the toilet 6 times before he leaves for school i think it is just him being stressed or is it? keep smilin luv karin
  12. yes i would say so too my 2 often sit by the fire with their backs to it on full blast without noticing how hot it really is,it doesn't seem to bother them where as it would u or i,when twin1 was bout 2 he was playing in the garden an got a big spade to dig with he came in whimpering for about 1/2 an hour then took his shoe off we noticed blood turns out he had nearly cut his toe in half but the whole nail was hanging off this did not seem to bother him so in answer to your question yes i would say our children have a higher threshold of pain than most nt kids keep smilin luv karin
  13. just had a phone call from a specialist i will enlighten you my twins see this so called specialist every year (well actually not him his sidekick or whoever he is training up at the time) they assess the twins in a little room write about them say okay see you next year, well he just phoned me as i asked for a chromosone test to be done on the twins he said he couldn't do this just because i wanted it done (but i bet if i said i would pay for it he would have bit my hand off) told me the other specialist i saw last year said the twins were borderline asd/aspergers but to use the books on aspergers eh? don't get this someone please enlighten me on this he will only do a chromosone test on the twins if an abnormality comes back on youngest son who has just had these tests done as he is 7 and is 4ft6in in height but has always been a large boy when he was 3 he had tonsils out as they were the size of a 10year olds, anyway he asked what i wanted i said i wanted the twins to be properly assessed and he said i could ask my gp for a second opinion anywhere in the country (oh woopeydo) sorry im being sarcastic im just so blooming fed up being led around like a bull and banging my head against a brick wall,he said why do you want them assessed again i said to have a diagnosis opens up a whole new world to get help with them (im even considering bringing in social services) do these people think we only want a diagnosis for our children so as we can get more money or something god i have lived on social for 3 years not that i want to (had to give up work too difficult to cope with the twins an i only worked 16hours a week as it was) please someone advise me what to do what do i do next and where do i go its affecting all my family and especially my marriage luv karin
  14. hi smileymab my 2 have had melatonin for a year and still dont want to eat, today we had to go to the doctors and what a palaver twin1 would not get dressed or washed and refused to go,they went for a check up for their melatonin he asked me if they still needed it i told him if they weren't to get it i would bring them round to him an he could look after them as they would go back to 4 hours sleep a nite i have also demanded that they both be sent for a chromosone test to see if there are any faults in the chromosones, their younger brother went for one today as he is only 7 but is 4ft6in tall which is the height of a 10year old child keep smilin luv karin
  15. since i have came to this forum everyone on here has encouraged me an supported me with everything i have asked them about aspergers, although my twins have no official diagnosis (an probably never will) i have began to notice a lot about my twins, the oldest twin does not know when he is hunry i will give you an example or 2 about 2 xmas's ago we went to xmas eve mass as we do every year he hardly ate anything excitment an all that well about 2o'clock in the morning he got up an my eldest had just came in from a party an said why are you up? he said he had a sore tummy,he then put him to bed, next he was up at 4o'clock i got up an said the same he again gave the same answer (he wasn't interested in his xmas pressies) it turns out it was hunger with him, well 2 years down the line we are still the same he was up on saturday at 4.20am with the same problem sore tummy and turns out he was hungry,my point is if i dont feed my 2 or tell them to eat they would starve to death,i dont think that is normal do you?i realise the reason they eat at school is because all the other children do the same, they are underweight and are not growing as they should, now i realise why they perform well at school as they dont want to stand out from the crowd that is why school keep looking at me like i am on drugs or something please give your opinions to me i would value all points i feel so lost at times and want some pointers on this one keep smilin luv karin
  16. thats why my 2 had to go on melatonin dont care what anybody else says about it its been a godsend to me they were keeping their little brother awake at night too it was a nightmare, when the specialist prescribed it last year since they were 2 1/2 they had only ever slept 6 hours each nite couldnt go on i weighed 7 1/2 stone and hubby was about same weight, that was 6 years without sleep as we have twins i get it double i know a lot of people dont like this but i think i would now be a single mum and in a nuthouse without it keep smilin luv karen
  17. my 2 stim a lot particularily when under pressure oldest twin wriggles his nose a lot then licks each palm an rubs them together younger twin play with the bottom of the curtain an the bottom of the material on the furniture, they also spin a lot it makes me dizzy, when outside they run around an shout a lot it bothers me more than it does them keep smilin luv karin
  18. bagpuss you are not alone i really love have term (not) my 2 drive me mad today we went uptown twin1 couldn't decide what he wanted so he bought himself an his brother a tennis set got home now they are playing footy i said wheres the tennis set its in a corner defunct i think they act this way as we have upset their routine (i get blamed for school being closed) as they have a structured routine at school and on hols i like to take my time in doing things i.e.getting up when i want to sitting in pjs till bout 11.00 then going uptown,my 2 are up at the crack of dawn and expect everyone else to be up too they even waken their older brother for work in the morning ha-ha roll on next week cant wait, but oh no summer coming up hubby said him an me should invest in a straight-jacket for each of us ha-ha keep smilin luv karin
  19. Hi all glad you are all back sent an e-mail yesterday to the moderators hoping the site would be up an running, unfortunatley i was one of those who opened the horrible e-mail just glad none of my kids were around, who are these people who do this its so unfair to the rest of us but glad we are all back online A BIG THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE INVOLVED WHO RUN THIS SITE an i would miss baddad's suttle comments ha-ha (only joking baddad) keep smilin luv karin
  20. hi all just catching up with my e-mails my 2 go bonkers at home time threaten younger one all the time school said the prob is at home not at school (little angels) for a long time i believed them but since i joined this wonderful forum realise its not us its just the kids saving up all their asd behaviour as they do not want to appear different in front of their school friends so leave it for us parents,i once read in tony attwoods book a paragraph that convinced me my 2 had aspergers it said be aware of 2 different characters i.e.the child will conform at school so as not to appear out of sync with other children but once they hit home they will change like jekyll an hyde now believe that is my 2 to a tee oh well you know the saying you always hurt the ones you love keep smilin luv karin
  21. hiya paula we have same prob but have found a friends daughter to do it at last have not been away from twins in all the time they have been on this earth nearly 10 years (except 1 nite and that was for an op in hospital) this girl is pretty good with them she is a wiz on the xbox an loves footy (plays in a local team) as do my 2 we get out every couple of months and i do appreciate the time away know how you feel its really hard you cant even bribe anybody to take them (hubby has 3 sisters an 2 brothers) but they all love the twins but none of them will even babysit for them hope you do start a group up it would be a good thing keep smilin luv karin
  22. had massive probs over the years with the twins sleep pattern an last year they suggested melatonin wasnt keen but my health was suffering as well so gave it a go an have never looked back nite times are great both sleeping by 9 but often up at 5 cant have it both ways but if they get up must be quiet an not waken other people think it has finally sank in with the 2 of them youngest sleeping better now he had lots of disturbed nites being in same room as the twins me an hubby sleeping lot better i know its not long term answer but at the moment it is karin
