  3. The whole situation is so frustrating. my son is in a special school and he has made excellent progress because the staff are ambitious and the provision has been excellent. The class teacher even says she thinks he'd COPE in mainstream but we both know he wouldn't thrive.I think it's when children don't thrive that parental dissatisfaction increases. Until they acknowledge that there is more than just academic attainment at stake,nothing will change.xx

  7. I have no family to call on and most of my friends also have children with Autism.Although I have some SS input,it isn't going well because they are telling me that the care has to be in my house and I want him to go out and about.xx

  10. A friend of mine was told by her family that her son 'would be OK by the time he is 10'.Needless to say,he is now 11 and there has been no miraculous change.xx

  19. DLA is to do with the needs and difficulties that a child has and is nothing to do with whether they are statemented,or not.It doesn't relate to daignoses either. They will try and assess what help your child requires over and above that of any child of a similar age.xx
