Hi im new

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, dont know if this is in the right place and im sorry if i have put in wrong place.

I am new to this site but not new to forums, i have 2 boys my eldest being nearly 14 & 6 yr old who has very difficult & challenging behaviour, i knew something was wrong when T (6yr old) was a baby in arms and when he was 4 i found out he was on the spectrum. Only now he is 6 and a half i have been for a 2nd opinion diagnosis and i have answers to his problems.

We attended a specialist Autism centre last week and the results were PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance Syndrome) Autistic behaviours and sensory problems, i was told he may get a diagnosis of PDD (Persuasive Developmental Delay) I will receive a very detailed report in 4-6 weeks, the centre advised me to join the forum PDA contact which i have found very informative.

PDA i have never heard of until last week even tho i have done over 2 yrs of research on ASDs, T does fit most of the critieria for PDA along with strong autistic behaviours with major sensory difficulties and he doesnt sleep at night (he doesnt get why he needs to sleep!).

So just a bit about our situation and im looking forward to chatting to u all :)

Hi welcome, its a great forum here and lots of support and advice, I am sure you will feel very welcome and a place where we are having similair issues, I know I have recieved a lot of support and understanding here, I read your other post about exceptional circumstances and been assessed in nottingham, going throw the same situation and awaiting a decision in April.

J has suspected PDA/ASD, any way thought I would say welcome and its a great place.
