pearl Report post Posted October 6, 2007 We're a bit lost in time in my house. Got lutes and renaissance recorders hanging on the walls, a clarsach in the bedroom and numerous books in ancient languages, including some very rude Greek and Roman poems. B has pieces-of-eight, Victorian pennies and sesterces in a box under his bed. Sadly only the pennies are authentic. His WW2 helmet is an original. The icecream tubs on the kitchen window sill are crammed with Roman roof tile fragments ( you can ask Mumble why!) and the herbs are in Athenian red figure pots (painted by OH) And any time you want to borrow a quill, just say the word. OK, someone has to ask.... wots a clarsach? Can you buy them at Ann Summers?
Bard Report post Posted October 6, 2007 OK, someone has to ask.... wots a clarsach? Can you buy them at Ann Summers? Well, I often use it to entertain myself whilst OH is in the garage woodcarving, or developing photos instead of coming to bed. The problem is that we make such a loud noise, me and my clarsach, that I'm worried that I might wake the children. OH prefers not to be within earshot. Bard Report post Posted October 6, 2007 In the 70s, I had long black hair that I could sit on, and a dreadful tartan kilt. Sadly, I wasn't allowed a skean duh. Now I look more like one of the Three from Macbeth, but yes, I do have a clarsach with 34 strings. And with the noise that I make, you could well believe that it was strung with real catgut! OH is a musician, hence the lurking in the garage.

Bard Report post Posted October 6, 2007 Is you dissin' my heritage? Well is you? MIL at my wedding, watching 6 uncles, my dad and brother as part of an eightsome reel. All with kilts, some with underwear. 'What's making their socks all lumpy?' 'They've all got skean duhs in their socks' 'What's that?' 'A seven inch dagger which is also a throwing knife' 'WHAT!!! Why have they got them in their socks?' ' A Scotsman should never be without a weapon, just in case he meets an Englishman.' That's what my dad taught me.
