PinkSapphireAngel Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Parent Partnership phoned my dh at work after he left a message for them.... THE LEA ARE ISSUING A PROPOSED STATEMENT BY FRIDAY! PP said it has no funding and that certain things have been left out that are not considered "educational issues" so I know we will be fighting LEA again and probably going back to tribunal. helenl53 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 PSA - ask them to email it to you! I did and then you can circulate it as well - much easier than scanning and copying. Well done You know the drill - look up the case law on Education versus Health in statements. Best wishes Helen
lisa Report post Posted September 6, 2006 PSA I'm so, so pleased for you and Luke. This is fantastic news. The LEA know they don't stand a chance at tribunal. Lisa x

PinkSapphireAngel Report post Posted September 6, 2006 I was just reading info on the NAS site and was wondering whether anyone here has had to have a meeting with their LEA officer as they have disagreed with points in their proposed statement! and how it went. My LEA officer is the one who has caused all the heartache!

helenl53 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 PSA - know your enema - I refused to meet up with my officer because of the lies and misrepresentation. I asked for all negotiations to be dealt with by correspondence and I cited "to avoid any misunderstanding of what has been requested/agreed upon" Don't think that anyone can fault you if you continue negotiation but by the writtenword. BusyLizzie100 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Wow, PSA, that's some news!!!!!!! I know how much you have battled for this, you must still be reeling from the shock! Hope it actually DOES come by Friday, or you may have a pretty intense weekend!! Lizzie x
jen Report post Posted September 6, 2006 We meet with out LEA officer and also took a letter clarifing what we were saying in the meeting. You just state what you do not like and why and what needs to be included and how you want it worded. Back this up with reports eg school ed psy etc which back up what you are saying. Also ask for a copy of all the appendix used to form the statement as some times they have used old information or ignored pieces of information. They don't like going to tribunal but I can see them not ensuring the statement is sufficient because that will give them savings off there budget for another 6 months. Good Luck Jen
Karen A Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Great news at last.PSA.Congratulations.We met with our LEA senior officer -but she was very approachable don't expect as much from yours from what you have written .Don't rush at this stage. When it comes take plenty of time to go through the draft and get advice.I think you have 15 days and can ask for a meeting during that time-the LEA have to arrange one if you ask. They will then decide whether to change the draft. When you get another draft you get another 15 days to check it.If you decide you would preffer to write in view of the experience you have had you can do that instead.Regards Karen

LKS Report post Posted September 7, 2006 psa I can't believe it <'> They must have been running scared But how stupid of them to 'issue' a proposed statement that is going to need a lot ot tightening up. What will happen, will they refuse to agree AGAIN and force you down the tribunal path AGAIN. They have played a cruel game with you and Luke in which they seem to have used everything possible in order to delay this. When you have the proposed statement I'm more than willing to share some of their classic comments from my ds's statement so that you can compare if you think that will help. Well done to you have a big glass on me

annie Report post Posted September 7, 2006 PSA I am so pleased for you . We had a meeting with the very same LEA Officer, well, a few meetings actually . The last one, when the only people there were us, PP and the Officer went well. She agreed to everything we wanted. On her own, she was a completely different person . UltraMum Report post Posted September 8, 2006 know your enema HelenL ! Seriously - great news - what time does the postie arrive?
PinkSapphireAngel Report post Posted September 8, 2006 It has not arrived today but knowing the petty LEA officer she will literally only post it today. I emailed her boss back saying I did not think a proposed statement was a legal document and that I know other people have had theirs emailed.
col Report post Posted September 8, 2006 they just gone and did a delaying tatic on me. They have just phoned regarding DD7 private EP report, where i got the dx of dyslexia. PV from the EP disagrees with the dx. She thinks that DD7 was too young and that her speech and language disorder hinders her learning. Bangs head. Before the dx, had a screening test for dyslexia and that came high at risk. The dx came from someone who specialises in dyslexia and children with speech and lang disorders. Have e-mailed the private EP about what was said and told him that i as quite happy for him to phone the EP and the LEA and tell them his qualifications and his professional history. I would be warey of the draft statement as i think they are trying to get you to pull out of the tribunial. Especially when they say that it's got no funding?? How on earth are the school expected to provide what's needed without the funding.
Flora Report post Posted September 8, 2006 Col. I had similar experience with Ben. He was highlighted as at risk of dyslexia when he was 5 but EP said couldn't be dx before 7. He was 8 before he was properly dx with dyslexia, all because of the language delay. flora
col Report post Posted September 8, 2006 Flora- she was 7 years 2months when tested. And i went to a specialist EP who writes books on dyslexia, who used to be the head of psychology at the dyslexia institute. I'm just getting more and more peeved.
