  7. Hi, I got a letter six months before my son's 5th birthday saying something similar, it turned out to be about claiming for the mobility element of DLA once he turned 5. Could it be this ? the timing would be right, doesn't relate to someone ringing em tho ?! HTH, wac

  15. This is exactly the sort of thing I would argue about at that age ! too busy these days to indulge in such arguments, have to stick to more mundane arguments about bed-time/ homework etc. It's not the same wac
  16. Hi Viper, She's right in a way Is she meaning in the way that black doesn't exist as a colour ? and what we call black (paint , cloth etc.) is actually very dark red, green, or blue ? I remember learning this at school in physics.... bit vague as to the science bit, just that 'black' is a total absense of light..... HTH, wac
  17. Thanks again for all your replies, It's really useful to know what provision is out there cos if you look in our LEA it's zilch. Our LEA will spend thousands sending kids to another LEA school when a much cheaper alternative is on offer by setting up an autistic resource base in a local primary. I was talking to a HOY at our local comp who told me that staff there thought we had an asd cluster in our area. I think teachers just do not realise how common asd are. We currently have 4 children in our infant school with dsx asd, average over one for each year (3 classes) ta for your help, wac P.S. hope everyone suffering from the latest cold/flu buggy feels better soon <'>
  18. So sorry me forgetti, my head is cooked spaghetti for yesterday ! wac
  19. Your school name clue had me stumped for a minute My excuse is I don't know that side of town at all, not even the names of pubs, nevermind schools Good idea to get the big cheese on side wac
  20. Wow, thanks for all your replies It's good to know that such provision does exist somewhere ! Just need to find somone with an unfulfilled desire to start a campaign Cheers, wac
  21. Hi, I wonder if you can help me ? We are now starting to look for a suitable junior school placement for our asd son who will transfer in sept. 2007. We don't feel he will cope with mainstream juniors (and neither do his current infant school ) so we are looking around to see what provision is available. There are no mainstream primary schools within our LEA that have an autistic unit (or secondary for that matter ) I'm trying to find out just how common such units are in the UK. Could you PM me on whether such a facility exists in your LEA ? I'd be really grateful if you could all fill me in on this, cos I really see this as the best possible school situation for our son. We have such a facility in the next closest LEA, why not in ours ?? Another alternative is a NAS school nearby where the fees are sky high Thanks, wac
  22. I'm sorry Eve, I just don't know what to say <'> apart from an entirely useless comment about what a c**p LEA you must live in I'm was beginning to think that the PP dept was a ghost organisation n our town, haven't heard a dickie bird from them in over 2 years, as for the Ed psych..... not to be seen, and what I'm hearing from parents of children who have had a visit, they're not happy ! I'm sure you'll do fine though PM me if you want to know more of the other person who was originally suggested as a stand in. Good Luck, wac P.S. you must be the only person on here who has met a member's sister rather than the actual person !!
  23. Thanks Caroline, I think ignoring it is really the best option, but now it seems to have turned into a really big deal and my son son is certainly enjoying the reaction he is getting I forgot to mention that the senco said she will be asking for an early review if this carries on, now sat at home, I'm thinking 'to what end ?' Does the school think they are no longer able to cope ? She was also asking me if I'd thought about which junior school yet? That's another thing to worry about then Might be ringing for the support worker to come back again wac
