mossgrove Report post Posted October 8, 2005 I've got everything crossed for you too! Our two autistic boys started at Special School last month after a nightmare time in mainstream. Getting them into special school was the best thing we have ever done for them! The difference is amazing. Good luck! Simon

MelowMeldrew Report post Posted October 11, 2005 I've got this decision coming next week as well, but we are worried as there are rumours they are going to back track yet again ! If the decision goes against us, where would we stand taking the LA to court ? bearing in mind we don't have much money to fight a legal case ? I'm hoping for the best, preparing for the worst. My son has seen 3 wrong schools in 3 years as it is.

faye Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Im rather confused what they have said to me is they think that ryan appears settled at school as he goes ok and gets on with what he's got to do,but took into consideration about his behaviour when he comes home from school, she said could it be something at home that's upsetting him so all she said was what were my reasons for wanting him to go to special school so told her ,so again she said do you want him to be placed in a specialist school and i said yes and all she said then was i'll get in touch with the school that you have named so is that a yes or what im confused
mossgrove Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Faye Thanks for the update. Did the person you spoke to have any knowledge of autism? Compliance at school and meltdowns at home is a classic sign that an Autistic child is NOT coping at school, not a sign that something is wrong at home. Simon
loulou Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Hi Faye, I agree with Simon about the meltdowns at home being a sign that the child is not coping at school. They try hard all day to "conform", then once at home, it all comes out. I think you should give this lady a call, to clarify what she said. Good luck, Loulou x
