  1. You eat too much and avoid exercising. You are addicted to gluten and dairy ladden foods. You are self harming with food to punish yourself.
  2. No ridiculing those unable to maintain their appearance is cruel. You have to find out why they're not doing something and eliminate that reason so they can do the desired action or behaviour.
  3. We often have difficulties with our short term memories so lack the skills which keep us maintaining our appearance. Also maintaining our appearance takes concentration and effort and energy we don't have to spare especially if we have secondary mh problems.
  4. Cuddles with teddy bear and family embroidery running the bath social group making people laugh sometimes by accident kareoke playmobil cooking with home help quiz shows marvel, star trek, star wars and similar films. Great thread btw
  5. I made an Egyptian bookmark for my Bro and with some hyreglifics gave it to him and a Brian cox book got some toys for my niece and nephew chocolates and shortbread for gran cross stitch for mum
  6. Happy new year to everyone on here.
  7. Welcome antarctic ant there is asperger united free newspaper produced from the national autistic society. They have a penpals section. Also the local autism society could have a support group or social group. Another option is to contact the council to see if they run autism groups for adults.
  8. There should be a section on the national autistic society website about diagnosis try there.
  9. I'm guessing she's not on dla or pip? If she is you can claim for carers allowance. Sounds to me like shes overloaded with so many choices. I had a breakdown age 18 due to my past catching up with me. You can register as a carer for her with the council or local carers group. Are there any post diagnostic courses available for her to help her cope with her diagnosis? I was diagnosed age 16 and have lived off disability benefits since but I have been running a peer to peer support group and have got my degree and almost post graduate degree. She sounds depressed considering how much she's been sleeping. Would she attend an autism support group in your area if you had one? I decided enough was enough in my life and went off gluten, dairy and benzoates. Then added in supplements such as omega 3s, d3, b 50s and probiotics one at a time. B12 can help with cognition.
  10. Please consult medical help like the samaritans for feeling so low.
  11. My mum is in denial of her aspergers. She has anxiety which can turn to anger very quickly. Also obsessed with money and "getting people organised" as she calls it.
  12. There are books on aspergers and sensory issues which might be able to help.
  13. Can you take probiotics to help with immunities? There's the books "OCD for dummies" and "breaking free from OCD" which I've found really helpful. My OCD is hoarding and spending. The spending is more under control than the hoarding. The nhs choices website can help you further. Also look up "ocd +(you're local area)" to see what therapies you have avaliable. My ocd is related to my trauma which caused my cptsd.
  14. Give him an ultimatum "if we go to counselling together and really work on our relationship then we can date again". He's confused and can't make up his mind. He doesn't realise how much he loves you until you're not there. Friendships for me have fizzled out because I was unable to maintain them. Have you read up on strategies to help with social isolation or the book "aspergers and alcohol drinking to cope"?
  15. I tried dating an asperger whose on the spectrum and drank a lot and it turned out with me getting hurt. He also exhibited a lot of the behaviours you're describing. Do you think he would accept and go for a diagnosis? Could you attend a parents/carers for adults on the spectrum group? What's his parents view on this? Could you support them to get him the help he needs?
  16. Another idea for making friends is to subscribe to the free newspaper "asperger united" which has a penpals section.

    Hello

Hello Do you have a local autism society run by the national autistic society? There is a newspaper produced annually for and by aspergian and autistic folk called "asperger united" you can download it from the autism website www.nas.org.uk . There could also be an autism strategy group in your area or post diagnostic support. Welcome to the forum hope this is a productive and prosperous new year for you.
  18. Sounds like a plan. If you can understand computers really well then it sounds like the ideal job for you.
  19. Congratulations on your diagnosis onwards and upwards, well done for persevering.
  20. Got to your gp and ask to be referred to a gender identity clinic. Tell your gp all the things you have mentioned here. There is also ungendered (agender) and a mixture of genders as a posibility. Gender services in England are now funded in a way that a direct referal to your gender identity clinic is the right route. Www.gires.org.uk is an excellent website regarding gender resources for patients. Hope this helps. Feel free to private message me if you have any other questions. Ally
  21. Then shop in smaller stores or online. Even the local fruit and vegetable market can be cheaper.
  22. They have to maintain their professional distance from you, they're trying to help you rather than be your friends. If I had a crush on a support worker and wanted to date them I would ask not to see them because it would be in the way of support. Your autism classifies you as a vulnerable adult which means it would be ethically and morally wrong for someone in a position of responsibility to date you. Might be an idea to only have male support workers in future. I've been supported since 2005 and have found a way to work with them. There have been occasions where I've crossed boundaries by asking personal questions but I've backed off when reminded the questions were intrusive. I hope you can move on and find a support system that works for you. My 1st care agency went bust.
