  6. Hi Yvonne, We managed to get our son a statement at 12 years old. What did the senco say ? might be worth putting in a parential request that's what we did and were able to keep tabs on the process which has strict timescales. Clare x x x

    HELP!!

Hi Suzy, So sorry to hear all, it makes my blood boil to hear another case of a child's needs not be meet and lack of support for parents/carers. We too in a simular position, my son has been out of school for the whole of Yr 8 and some of Yr 9. Sadly we have to fight long and hard for our kids, its just taken me a year and a month to get my son appropriate education, yes it is private and yes very expensive, but the authority final agreed. Just wanted to wish you luck and encouarge you to keep going, the authority expects us to give in and that's what they want, so never, ever give up ! If there is anything I can do to help, swap expereinces etc, I am more than happy to do so. Please feel free to pm me. Clare x x x
  11. Phew....no wonder you have had enough with that lot !!! its is so frustrating when you are pushed from pillar to post and no one wants to take responsibility, let alone return your calls, letters or emails. Think perhaps its now time to make a formal complaint, asking for the relevant department and/or sectors Complaint Procedure and follow that to the book. I know its hard, as you know I have been there, but it seems that its not until you really let people know that you mean business, know your rights and have the facts straight that anyone bothers to do anything. Yes you might feel like giving up right now right this minute, but you WILL bounce back, just dont' try and deal with stuff when you are all fired up, it will get you no where. As for being a "bad Mummy" we are after all only human, and I know and you know deep down you ARE a very GOOD Mum. Don't be so hard on yourself. Will speak to you later. <'> <'> <'> <'> Clare x x x x

    Stuck in the mud

Diane, Sorry to hear your story, not disimular to our own. My son was signed off sick from school before he had a statement, though has one now. In our area there is an agency called "COOS" Children Out Of School, you have to be referred to them usually by your school and the referral agreed by camhs or simular. I had no idea this agency exsisted, but they have been a God send to us, Connor has a mentor and a tutor and they work towards getting children back into education. It might be worth ring your Education Authority to enquire whether such a service is availble in your area, I would highlt recommend it. Clare x x x
  16. Mel, I would be livid too, infact I am livid on your behalf, how "insert a bad word here" dare they , to be honest they sound dam lazy and disinterested to me , how dam disrespectful to both you and Jay. I am so cross I can write much else, but hope you find much strength to get to the bottom of this. Have pm'd you. <'> <'> <'> <'>

    letter to school

I don't think there is any harm giving them a time scale to reply to your letter you are not asking for the hours to be implemented by that time but when do they intend to implement them, I would give them 7 days to respond, then review their reply. Clare x x x
