    Crimewatch

The person wonder if character father jack from the programme father ted was based on an ASDer [using crimewatches' diagnostics]? there was a pet brick and he hit people with it.
  2. Jack Thompson should be the one getting a public nusance order,he is so overreactive with games. Bully has at least a BBFC fifteen certificate and shops are getting stricter with who they sell to. Underrage people usually get the game from their parents going into shops and buying it for them,so it's not the games that are to blame,it's the people that are buying them for underrage people. Bullying has been a part of life for many,so why should not it be used? why ignore the subject like it doesn't exist or is illegal? for those that are old enough to buy it,they are able to choose whether to or not-and that right should not be taken away because of others not educating themselves about games before buying them for their children, films have a lot worse things in them.
  3. http://www.beggarprince.com/ Someone mentioned it on the inbox page of Game Central [page 306 on teletext] this morning,it is a new oldskool RPG for the Megadrive/Genesis,it only went on sale this month. I wonder does this mean the possibility of more new games being developed and released on the megadrive? Afterall,up until this year,SEGA had still being releasing new games onto the dreamcast format in NTSC regions even though mainstream had given up on it long ago,I think it would be good to have the mega drive back, even though it wouldn't get a major following. What does everyone else think?

  5. Iirc,Invision has a function to disallow certain groups [such as guests] to not view images [and instead get the text form].
  6. Was it sent back to the manufacturer,or put in a repair shop,or given to a lone technician? Manufacturers always take ages, repair shops should have it done far quicker than that [if they're having to ghost the hard drive first, then format and install over it,it'd still be done within several hours rather than days, unless they are constantly busy],if it's a lone technician-still wouldn't expect it to be that long wait if it's a basic/software job. What was wrong with the PC?
  7. It is strange how many people have used 'spastic' as a petty insult at a persons' intelligence over the years, when it is actually referring to the muscle stiffness in cerebral palsy.

    Eurovision

Who will be watching it? what is thought of Englands' entry? who wants who to win? I do not usually like watching it as I think England intentionally tries to avoid votes by using crappy inadequate groups to represent it,but will be watching some of it this year and hope Finland will win because they aren't being like most by using the same overdone pop style, they're using a metal band who have been around since 1992 [in Finland]. I think the England song sounds like that Mr Blobby single from around christmas 1992-94.
  9. qualifications are not worth as much as they used to because so many people have them but don't have proper experience, practical experience in the job teaches a lot more than many courses can. Have a look in the local independant computer repair stores [not the big, full of people sensory overloading stores like PC world/mastercare]see what layout they have, how busy they are, what the staff are like...it won't matter if the person is on an IT based course or not,I got my work experience whilst doing a non IT based life skills course. I can recommend the place I do work experience at if living in Manchester, very ASD and work experience friendly. Princes Trust... which course was suggested? Was it the volunteers programme? if so,it would not be worth it for the IT part,it's very basic-learning how to use ms word/works etc. he'd learn other basic skills like maths, english, and also a health and hygeine qualification, a first aid qualification, others I can't remember.
  10. gladysmay, how about getting him long term unpaid work/work experience at a computer repair shop? there are no exams-no written work-and if it is what he wants he could be offered a job out of it eventually with the benefit being that he would be used to the place and staff already. My college tutor got me work experience at a computer repair/build shop, and go once every week for 2 hours,he would learn a lot more experience in that type of practical environment than going on a basic IT course,he wouldn't have to communicate with customers and just work with the computers providing the staff okay that,he would be around qualified technicians, seeing all sorts of computer and laptop problems,upgrades.. Also, see if the college runs a CompTIA A+ course,it's a internationally recognised qualification that has "the equivilent to 500 hours of hands on experience",it has exams though, information about it here [although at a specific college] : http://www.ecclescollege.ac.uk/BVPage.aspx?id=89#383 Have been wondering whether to do it myself.
  11. Jonathan, there is not a requirement on this forum that people have to be Autistic or parents/family of Autistics, not being Autistic on an Autism forum does not make the persons' opinion less worthy. Forums benefit from comments from all people. APD is classed as a "personality disorder" and is not on the spectrum, but it does have some similarities with ASD: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avoidant_personality_disorder
  12. It is national slayer day on the 6/6/06.
  13. Oracle,it doesn't matter what age the person is,music is for any age.
  14. It is worth it for the newest technology it gives,if I remember correctly, the playstation 1 and sega saturn cost more than that on release. As production costs get cheaper, and the demand gets less,it will get cheaper, unless a console addict, there is no real excuse to get at that date+cost because it'll have a limited amount of games on sale, with the best ones quickly selling out--the console itself will probably sell out through pre orders-before it even gets in the shops--the games will be mostly sequels that aren't taking enough advantage of the new hardware.
  15. I thought he was actually diagnosed with AS,now it say there is no evidence he has it,if that is true,it is people like him who are ruining the credibility of HFK/AS autistics,he should not be allowed to get away with it.
  16. I think Wrong Planet is great to. The majority of users on Wrong Planet are not NT parents, but there are some, and it's for people of all ages. There is also AFF/ http://www.aspiesforfreedom.com/phpBB2/index.php
  17. It is confusing. Autism is split into functioning levels [low and high] those on the low end of Autism are said to have problems with the basics needed to properly function in society, such as communication, looking after themselves, and have lower intelligence. High functioning Autistics are said to be able to be independant as adults, have regular intelligence or above,be aware of everything around them.. They do not neccessarily state a severity level though, the severity level differs in both. I do not think the functioning level is fair because a person can be diagnosed with HFA/AS but be low functioning in various parts [which makes it near to impossible to leave home due to not being offered the right support],however,it does suit some, there are some on the very high functioning end who do not even see it as Autism based on their own experiences. A person can be diagnosed with LFA but have their strong points, and they are often underestimated as being not very able, there is one LFA artist I know of,but keep forgetting his name,he's had his work [drawn with charcoal] put up in galleries. It would be better to do away with severity and functioning levels and just call it all ASD,and judge each Autistic on their individual difficulties and strengths rather than stereotyping us all.
  18. Dragonforce are great, they do have some music not so heavily power based-Starfire for instance. Have a look out for Dream Theater, they're prog metal but include other metal elements [thrash,rap..],they both remind me of Iron Maiden in terms of guitaring.
  19. In England,St Patricks' day seems more celebrated than St Georges day.
  20. The address also needs to be in between two image tags:- [ img ] http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/8159/bisc3eu.jpg [ /img ] [remove the spaces between brackets],if an image address if left without the tags,it will only show up as a link rather than image.
  21. Sweetpea,for online information,try these--about ASD: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_spectrum ASD contreversies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controversies...autism_spectrum List of Autism related topics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_autism-related_topics
  22. Paul McKenna? He successfully helped /cured people with various conditions on a series he had on sky1 last year [?],including one person with tourettes if I remember correctly,so I'd say that theory is correct [that he could come up with something better].
  23. The UK doesn't lose it's own funding when giving some to outside UK,there is a seperate budget for international things so it doesn't, or at least shouldn't affect what is spent on UK people here.
  24. I think the pro cure people are ignorant and want to believe in something that isn't there,Autism isn't an illness or a disease that can be cured,it's a difference in the neurological setup. It is about time people were accepted for who they are,and not what others want them to be,
