I am now even more excited...... :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce: Rang round all the hotels in Newcastle to get a room for that night, but had no joy, think it may have something to do with a match day........so left it to DH.......and he has booked us in here.......

http://www.otterburntower.com/

He's even booked us in for dinner..... so I'm under strict instructions not to drink TOO much at the meet up, because I'll be flat out by 5pm if I do :drunk::shame:

I'm worried though...it looks abit haunted

I wouldnt worry about ghosts, one look at that lovely orange hair of yours and they'll vanish in a puff of smoke. Did I ever tell you about my pink frizz hair accident? :o

See you next weekend. I think I PMed you my number before TN. Will send it again in anycase. Oxford was great. Been told that they want all the gossip though. Will be nice to be on very familar territory too. Mind you Oxford was nice and wasn't hard to navigate round (I was the only person looking at a map which probably helped a lot - The YHA was kind enough to have free ones available to pickup. Had forgotten my multimap printoff). We do have to try and get one where everyone can get to. The idea of a YHA break in the off season was also mentioned a bit when you can hire a hostel. Guess TN wouldn't be interested though having managed to get round to reading some of his book at last. Was up to Chapter 8 by the time I got off the train. Made some nice easy (for the most part) reading for the train. Will try and finish it before next weekend. :) Sorry rambling on again. I feel hyper. Shouldn't feel like this. Felt shattered a few minutes ago. Feel bounzy.

Pfffft!!! I was quite happily burying my head refusing to accept that the meet-up was this weekend until you posted this!

Why did you have to do it eh? Why bring up what to wear :crying:

I am now officially pretending to fall out with you for making me do that thing that women do when they think about what clothes they have and all of a sudden none of them are good enough anymore

I'm even considering going shopping this afternoon to see if they have discovered how to make nice clothes for fat people yet, though I assume that it will still be clothes made out of stretchy material that clings to every mahoosive lump and bump that I have...yeah, can't believe they haven't won the nobel prize for that yet, GENIUS!!

I hope you consider yourself sufficiently reprimanded Missy :fight::shame::lol:

Hope TN isn't anything like my girlies.....they tell me my bum looks big without me even asking "Does my bum look big in this":lol: My youngest dd's favourite mantra at the mo is "Mummy has a big soft and material bottom"....... :shame: Don't be worrying about what to wear.......no one will care, I'm just hoping I manage to find something clean.....and if it's ironed that a bonus  Chances are if I manage both, I will wear the wrong colour bra...which will most likely show through

BTW...How To Look Good Naked is on tonight, it gives brill tips on how to dress for your shape....I LOVE it :D

See you all soon x

I had a lovely afternoon. The weather was quite warm and sunny so ds2 and I treated ourselves to a drive out into the countryside and a pub lunch. We found a really nice pub, great food but best of all they had a beer garden with lovely views all around. Cows, and ducks on the river which was next to the garden. Just wish I'd had my camera. Both ds2 and me have been very tired and stressed these last few months so it was great to get away from it all. It was very peaceful there, I don't think I've sat still for so long in years! You know that saying, "what is this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare" well we sat and stared today and it was wonderful.

Had a great day in Newcastle today. Was slightly worried about money (my bank debit card decided not to work in the cash machines but did work fine in F&Bs). Was nice to meet another lot of people on the forum. One of the others even knew one of the people I get on particularly well with at work (staff not student). Also heard a bit more about the Emily - Neil get together. Will leave it for them to expand on when they want to however. Seemed to be the general opinion that it would be nice to have another meet before the summer holidays. TN seems to be a typical N.E. bloke, he's into football. :) The new members of the group (including me) were a bit quite at first but most of us got chatting away after a while. Was also interesting to hear a few comments about schools. I hope the others all enjoyed it as much as me. Also got my book signed (forgot to ask TN so he asked me :notworthy: ). Forgot to take any photos though. Had a camera in my pocket if I had thought about it and asked them. Had even more people encouraging me with my choosen route too. >:D<<'> (My friend at school will complain ;) she thinks I'm obsessed enough already.) Thanks all, David.

I had a really nice time, and my mum enjoyed it as well.

We were all a bit quiet at first, but we got better over dinner. My mum talked at Neil for about 2 hours, so I think he may take a little while to recover . . . I was enjoying the break!

Emily and Neil are lovely, and look so happy and comfortable together. Well, everyone was lovely. I had a really nice time meeting you all :)

I bet I'm not the only one who is relieved that David forgot to get his camera out!

Yes, it was a lovely afternoon. Great to see people from last time, lovely to meet the new arrivals too. Wish I could have stayed a bit longer (you looked like you were all getting in to the swing of things when I left!) but J and hubs had had enough of each other by then so time for me to leave.

Must try and do it again before the summer holidays, not sure if I can wait till September!

I really enjoyed myself yesterday, it was great meeting everyone!! (all ASD aware...what a revelation!)

I made it through the day anyway, despite the usual array of things going wrong....my jeans being too big and me walking around looking like some kind of weirdo cos I kept having to hitch them up every two minutes, a rather nasty lump on my eye swelling up and making me feel like the elephant man! I did think it was a little spot but now I'm not so sure, either way I look like I've got a black eye and it was only my big thick black glasses that hid what was really going on around my eye yesterday  Two out of the three toilets were not working at some point and F&Bs, for some strange reason, thought it was a good idea to pump 'How to Learn Italian' over the speakers in the toilet so not only was there always a queue for the loo but you had to listen to someone telling you how to order ice-cream in Italian at the same time! Freaked me out  Thankfully the music they had in the restaurant was incredibly loud so people eating and what-not wasn't a problem but the music was so loud that trying to have a conversation with anyone who wasn't sat directly next to you was a nightmare! Also I made the mistake of ordering a Club sandwich type thing which is usually fine but when they put the plate in front of me they had put the sandwich at the bottom and covered it in chips and then covered the chips in green stuff!!! Arraaghhh!! I have to have my food seperate so me and Neil then spent the next five minutes trying to scrape the green stuff off of the chips and move the chips from the main plate onto a side plate so nothing was touching  I got that freaked out by the chip/sandwich fiasco that I then found it necessary to separate my club sandwich into food types...I ended up with a little pile of tomatoes, a little pile of chicken, another of bacon and then a bread pile

I didn't get much chance to speak to Bagpuss, KarenT or David but I did talk for England at SV, Tally and Bikergal.....I can only apologise for my inability to shut up  At least it gave Neil a break from my waffle for a bit :D

As much as yesterday confirmed that everyone I met was as nice as they come across online and that it is possible for me to do lots of new stuff and survive, it also confirmed that I have the best boyfriend in the world :D:wub: My Knight in a Shining Corsa didn't shout at me when I was half an hour late in getting ready, held me tight on the Metro (my first time on a train in a long, long time), didn't abandon me when I kept stopping to pull my jeans up, ate my chips and half my club sandwich so I didn't feel guilty about wasting his money (that was such a hardship for you eh Neil?), treated me to a Thornton's Ice-Cream while we walked back to the train station and then drove home putting up with me falling asleep (and probably snoring) :notworthy::notworthy:

Looking forward to the next meet-up...if you'll have me back that is :D

Yep,

Yesterday's meet was very good...........a lovely bunch of people. A lasting memory...................the marching band that hailed Neil and Emily's arrival!! :hypno: How AS friendly was that!! But how appropriate  I really dont know how you Aspies coped with that..........I found it pretty distracting.

It was lovely to meet everyone, old friends and new. Oh and a special mention for Karen's little boy who popped in to say hi..........what a sweetie. Karen you must be very proud of him

Why, thank you both for saying so, I'm rather fond of him myself!

He enjoyed meeting you all, but I had to smile at the Aspie Moment of shaking hands with everyone!

And the collosal sackful of Bionicles filled all of half an hour when he got home, although he's rambled on incessantly about them ever since (which is why I've sent him out on a long bike ride with his dad so I can give my head a rest).

I take it you got home safely, Bagpuss and dh? How was your night in Luxury Towers? I hope you had more pudding!

Woohoo, me and my special lady made it back and we survived not only the meet-up but also the Metro (a new experience for both of us), being greeted on our arrival by a marching brass band (thanks to the trade unions of the north east for turning up)(although if I ever find out which one of you lot arranged for them to turn up, I'll make sure that me, Emily and our bricks 'pay you a visit'), F&B's again, socialising, and meeting some more new people. All this and my navigational skills managed to get the two of us back home.

To be honest, F&Bs was noisy, busy, overload central and the way they seated us made it hard to talk to lots of people but it was still good to meet you lot again, meet some new people (you're OK Tally, I won't hold your mum talking at me for 2 hours against you ), put faces to names etc. Thankfully no cameras and NO <insert rude word here> CLIFF RICHARD.

Better than any of that though was the fact that I got to show Emily off to everyone, hold her hand and be proud to be seen with her.

So then, when's the next one?

Anyway I'm not scared of a few bricks. Just dont st the guinea pigs on me............please.............anything but that!!

LOL you want to try the metro at 8am on a weekday coming from Sunderland to Newcastle............then you're packed in like sardines with your face squished against the door!! Not nice at all!

It was great to see you BTW and me n Emily have been organising a nice rollercoaster wedding : ) WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

More importantly, where? Souther (is that a word?!) would be good - we're not all loonies in the south - a few of us can be trusted (and I don't think we have marching bands :unsure: )

Just feeling very jealous - the meet-ups sound great :tearful:

Mumble, I think a meet up in Manchester is being suggested....although that may not be much further south for you :( Maybe you could try to organise one  I'd really recommend going along...it's lovely to meet people from the forum....although abit scary at first. :D

Mumble, I think a meet up in Manchester is being suggested

Oh no, no no no, Mumble doesn't do Manchester. Mumble's been to Manchester - all she had to do was get a train to the main station and walk for 10 minutes. But somehow Mumble ended up an hour later totally disorientated in the middle of a less selubrious part being escorted in the right direction by Mrs Plod :police::o

I would really like to meet up with you all - I'm in London, so some places aren't too bad to get to if there's a direct train, but I might need some help once I got to the train station and I wouldn't want to be a burden on anyone :(

Maybe you could try to organise one

Yeah - sounds great - as long as you don't all mind ending up in different places on different dates!!! I would be liable to over organise, to misinterpret most of you, to panic at silly things and to ruin it for everyone - now that's something I do have a special talent for.:whistle::whistle::wacko::lol::lol::lol:

A burden?

I have no intention of carrying you, so I'll just bring my trusty wheelbarrow.

As for Manchester...it's got about 3 main railway stations and people talk funny so I'm not surprised you mislaid yourself. I lived just outside the city for several years, and found new ways to get lost every time I went there.

Personally, I have maps of everywhere I have ever been, or am likely to go. I am known for my amazing sense of Geography, and my appalling sense of direction.

A meeting anywhere south of me would involve passports.

I'm tempted to suggest Reading. Think it's easy enough to get to via train etc...

But then, the car parking costs a small fortune - although the Old Orleans Pub/Resturant place (Riverside, Oracle) is fabby :) ...........

Ooohhh yes. That's where my sister takes me when she thinks I need new clothes, because everything's together and I can avoid the smelly/perfumey entrances to the department stores by entering on different levels. We always go on a Sunday morning first thing and it's generally quiet, and then to Old Orleans for lunch :eat::eat1: , so I'd even feel comfortable that I knew the place - plus they let you draw on the tables!!! (ok, on the large white paper they put on the tables, but still great fun - my sister and I created a sort of dinosaur / cave man theme last time - I think she's still got it on her wall!!!!), and they do fantastic cocktails. :wine::pepsi::cheers::drunk: Ohh, thinking about that's cheered me up a bit :)
