I'd say that person hadn't yet connected with the right people, and that the people that person had connected with should maybe heed that very old piece of advice -"If you've got nothing good to say, say nothing"...

welcome

i don't like being me.

You're not the only one, unfortunately. I forget the last time i was invited to anything (even the pub :tearful: ), but i know it wasn't this century.

About 6 months ago i came across this site and it's been a great help. When i arrived i called myself the thread-stopper, because my posts on other forums tended to end the thread or invoke a stream of abuse i couldn't handle (and don't think i deserved). Since being here i've made over 200 posts, mostly in the longest-running thread on the site. No cutting off or nasty replies, just understanding and sympathy (a few too many hugs for my liking, but at least they're virtual, and always well meant). Oh yes, and Baddad's appaling puns!

In January I'm going to London for a get-together of old college friends. First time in over 10 years (always chickened out before). And it's mostly krism's fault  .

This has ended up as a rather cheesy ad for krism, but the point i was trying to make was that in a world where humans are defined as 'social animals', asocial (non-social rather than anti-social) types are made to feel somehow less than human. You won't have to look far on this site to find a rant about such trollish ignorance. And there are a lot of folks here who have AS kids and want to understand them better: any insights will be well received.

Just beware of the Batcave

Hi i don't know. :)

May be you have a different personnality ;) and not no personnality, in any case you are welcome here. As for the people who think that you are boring may be they did not try hard enough to find out, they may be so shallow that they cannot even open their mind to somebody who is not a reflection of their ownself. :wallbash:

A complete lack of intellect and this is ssssoooo boring feeling traped in a selfcentred cultural sameness made me leave a very good job years ago in my own country (France) I just couldn't cope with it all: the jokes the eating and drinking habit the I have to dress a certain way and see certain movies or certain plays and to eat in certain restaurant and talk to certain people if not how could I possibly fit in  , since then I have met other people other cultures and live in different countries and never regretted it.

Strangly enough most of my family members never approved of it because for them (so patriotic especialy Mum) a good life is with your people in your country. Mum is the one as well who completly denies that my son has ASD!!???

In this site we would like to find out about you being you not trying to be anybody else, not very social and so what, since when any society has been made of all the same people, here everybody is WELCOME. >:D<<'>

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME......... B)>:D<<'> :D

You sound very down, I-D-K, >:D<<'>

Many of us here find it easier to communicate in writing rather than face-to-face.

Take your time to browse around the forum, and you'll find that we pride ourselves on being respectful and tolerant to each other, even when we disagree!

Welcome >:D<<'>

So would I !!

Welcome, this is the friendliest forum I've found, and has a good mix of parents of asd/as children and asd/as adults.

You can just be yourself, post or just lurk ( I think we all have phases of this !)

I'd say >:D<<'> Welcome >:D<<'> .....

.....and I'd say you sound interesting! I am always heaving a sigh inside whenever I go to a 'get together' because 98 per cent of what most people come out with at social gatherings (especially family ones) is utter tedium! (Me included!) It's not that I think I know better or anything, I just cant 'connect' to conversations about the price of houses, or what colour wedding dress Jordan has, etc, etc. If someone asks my opinion I find it impossible not to tell the truth....this means I always end up standing by myself eventually!!! so you sound just my cup of tea

Welcome!

Like many of the people here, I find it much easier to socialise in writing than in real life, there are plenty of people here who understand exactly where you are coming from.

I dont know.

I bet you are great company with a good sense of humour different and not boring very clever and with a lot to give.I bet you would make a loyal friend and I bet you are a good listener.you have a lot to give and if people don't like you it's because they don't understand you and it is them that is missing out for not enjoying your differences.

I didnt like myself when I first realised i have as now as my husband says if I was any different I wouldn't be me.I know whilst I have difficulties in certain areas I have a lot to give and I know that my mum, my sister, husband and two children love me for who I am.Think of your positive points not your negative...I hope I am explaining myself properly.Take care thinking of you.
