Blue-Kat Report post Posted May 12, 2006 the FF visitor came out to see us a couple of weeks ago. she's asked to see a copy of forthcoming assessment before the application goes to the committee. at the time I said 'no problem' to sharing this, but not so sure now. I didn't feel she had a good understanding of the problems. The 2 day assessment is next week, not really sure what to expect, it feels like jsut ont one chance to get the diagnosis and everything is dependant on it. - Katya
stresshead Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Hi, Had a visit from the FF lady yesterday, how long usually is it before you hear something? Do you get a letter 1st to say if you have been accepted or do you just get a cheque or vouchers inthe post? thanks for any help A
Zemanski Report post Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) I had driving lessons - they set it all up with BSM and BSM contacted me. FF paid for 40 lessons (you take them as doubles with BSM so it's 20 weeks worth) and 2 of each test. After that I got a reduced rate on lessons. I just got a new trampoline for Com, FF wanted to do it through argos but he has specific requirements and is so big now that we asked for a superior quality one and they sent us a cheque to cover it plus some extra the FF lady who came thought we should get for a holiday The money came 2-3 weeks after the visit I also know that they now have a contract with a scottish company to provide holiday bookings at a special rate and with specialist facilities if needed in a similar way to the BSM deal. lisann Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Hi All can I put a downer on BSM just be carefull with them I got the FF deal.I was waisting a lot of time I had to take my Therory very early doors because if you don't pass that then the rest of the lessons go on hold till you do.I too got the reduced rate but they only let you have doubles so it ended up being ?33 a week when my free lessons ran out. If you cancel a lesson less than 24 notice so if you are ill then that lesson is taken off the amount you don't get to keep it. I had a very bad instructor who use to mess about talking for 25 mins each lesson so I wasn't getting the full 2 hours driving.I have now moved to a different driving company who is brill i drive for 1 hour none stop get loads out of my lesson and have been told BSM basically wasted my time and some of my money. My new teacher only talks about the next lesson and what we will be doing after my hour has passed on not during my lesson.I could have been very unlucky and it prob' was a one off but thought I's let you all know. Siadwell Report post Posted August 2, 2006 Applied to the Family Fund in middle of May, (asked for new computer, this one is steam driven, and a climbing frame) received a letter in July to say that someone would come out to see us within 4 weeks. Two weeks later a woman came out asked a few questions about our ds and how it affected us all as a family. One week later (today) we received a letter informing us that we could get help of ?600 for a computer from PC World, and ?400 for a climbing frame from Argos, unfortunately all the frames in Argos are too small so we asked if we could get one elsewhere, the woman on the phone said this should not be a problem. If only other organisations could be as professional as this life would be so much easier...Thank you FF.

clintess Report post Posted August 8, 2006 ive started my lessons with bsm,my driver is brill int he four lessons(2hrs each)ive done hill starts.reversing, duel carriageways, roundabouts, meeting traffic, turning left and right.when he chats its normally for ten mins where i have drive to the place and again after lesson has finished.his is great so not bsm drivers are like that. you get 12 hours then you have 2 pass your theory(which i did last friday.first time) and then a further 27 before your practial,my driving instructer is going to hold a couple of hours back so if i fail i still have to start paying at a reduced rate(?17 per hour).if you dont get on with yr instructer you can change.from first being given the funded to when bsm called to book first lesson was about 4 wks they also give you five books and a dvd which helps loads to pass your theory and hazard tests. driving instructer is really helpful and works round when i can do it cause of the children and holidays and is adiment he get me through my test. Deedee Report post Posted January 12, 2007 We applied for some orthotic vests for DS2 originally but when we had the home visit and the lady met the boys (M was in a meltdown) she suggested I ask for help for both.I didn't know what to ask for as I was embarassed really asking for anything! She spent an hour here asking questions about the boys and when I explained the trail of destruction left by M we ended up with a cheque towards carpet, gift card for mattresses and bedding(he still has accidents and chews everything).Gift vouchers for clothes for M (as he eats them),money for DS2's vests and a laptop for DS2 I burst into tears when I opened the letter as I couldn't believe someone wanted to help.. bikergal Report post Posted January 29, 2007 I applied for the second time earlier this month and I got a reply today saying we can have a laptop or desk top with printer from Dell. I'm really pleased dd1 will be over the moon. The first time I applied I was rather embarrassed too, and shocked at the cheque they sent. The best investment was the trampoline, which dd1 spends all her time on in the summer.
