  4. My google search clears everytime i close the browser you can change it in settings
  5. My ds was being kept in at playtimes until the out reach team suggested play buddies, Basically they take ds and a group of 4 in his class and they are taught how to "play". They do team games with an lsa so it is controlled and his behaviors can be quashed before they start. No they cannot deny him time to play. Ds was having 10 mins outside on his own until i kicked up and they kept saying it was for poor school work, hes dyslexic and dyspraxic so his handwriting, spelling etc is not his fault i said that he is always going to be these and if they think detention is going to change him they had another thing coming. A week later they had the out reach team in. Its worth asking about they must have something similar in scotland.

    Yr 6/7 transition

Now that sats are out of the way yr 6 starts to wind down a little. J has 3 visits all in all for his secondary school and basically primary like it or lump it. Ask Ps when they have things arranged ( educational visits etc) and just book the days for her. Sounds to me that they are trying to hold you over a barrel. I have arranged js and told him about them and have told them that unless they want meltdowns they will let me take him and they have agreed.

    Car Seats

I used to put a normal harness(does up at the back) on j and attatch that on a short rein to the car seat. He soon learnt that undoing the buckle wasnt going to get him far.
  9. Js sperm doner was 27 when j was born but i have suspicions that he has asd too and it runs in my family anyway.
  10. j is only doing his science one and they are undecided about his english one. Its all todo with there marks and how the school will rate!! Im not really that bothered as hes stressed enough with the maybe 2 and i cant see him getting far in the science and english. Science is ok in theory but he just cant get it on to paper.
  11. This is how js was done and very well they did it too. Its a difficult thing for a "normal" teacher to explain there are so many aspects. Js was done in a every child is different type of way and didnt actually mention him even though the other kids told me who they knew who the Out reach was talking about.

    Shakespeare Quiz

    i got 6 outta 18
  13. right ill tell you what js ot tried to teach him but it hasnt worked for him b has a tail at the front like an elephants trunk and d has one like a dogs tail like i said it hasnt worked for him but they say it has worked for other kids.
  14. You will have to talk to your nearest group ours wouldnt take J because they didnt have extra help or experience but my friends lad (asd) goes to cubs in another town.
  15. J was 4 when diagnosed with dyspraxia (nursery picked it up) . But he wasnt diagnosed with asd until last year hes now 11. Hes my first child and i didnt really have any comparisons but i guess trying to figure out what was dyspraxic behaviors and what was "something else" was the hardest bit for me. I knew something wasnt quite right when he was 6 or so and my other lad (then 3) was over taking him socially etc. But i had a fight from there as school wouldn't say they were seeing anything and i had to go over their heads in the end and break down in front of the consultant to get a referral to cahms. That process took about 12 months all in all as i had to do the usual routine of parenting classes and "talks" on how to handle behaviors for them to see i had tried everything. I have been fighting for 6 years to get the right classroom help and a statement based mainly on his dyspraxia. This year now he goes up he has 22 hour statement and a secondary place at a special school with 80 pupils). My hardest fight has been the school and still is, but not all schools are the same hopefully it will be alot easier next year. The biggest thing i have learnt is that we know our children best!!!. i have learn't it the hard way, i have doubted myself and others have doubted me much to their regret as no apology will be good enough (even family) but i knew that something wasnt right and i stuck to my guns. soo back to the original question me waffling lol about 6 years
  16. I put in for one in 2004 and it didnt even get to assesment stage. I put in for one again in 2007 and as of the 11 th of this month he is statemented.

    Middle Age!

im not old im 32 and i have to have steroid injections in my hip for arthritis is 30 the new 60
  18. J (11) cant ride a bike or tie shoelaces we have tried and tried but ot say its more to do with his dyspraxia than asd.
  19. i sent all the medical reports and school stuff with a letter outlining why i thought he needed extra support and photocopied it 3 times . One for the initial form, one for the actual statement eveidence and one for my records.
  20. when i brought this up with js pead i got sent away with a sheet with a course on dealing with children with adhd the problem i went with was his anxiety and she also told me that when i was taking him to his main problem (crowds) to give him a stress ball and put it in his pocket!!! imagine freaking j and me to tell him to put his hand in his pocket and squeeze his ............ j wet himself laughing . Cahms have dropped him like a hot brick and considering they were the ones that diagnosed you would have thought they would b the ones to give support Oh i did get sent on a parenting course but this was sort of the process for diagnosis and are useless as by that point you have tryed most text book things.
  21. Is she on sa+? if she is you have a good chance. Even if not give it ago. We did 5 years ago ok we didn't even get an assessment but now its looking bad on the school because its on record with the lea that i requested extra help and the school said he didn't need it and then didn't tell me they had him on sa+ for the next 5 years!!!. They were shocking and now they are taking all the glory but lea have put them back in their place.
  22. yep all the time. I cry at the slightest thing being exhausted all the time doesnt help. When my brain is in overload ill go to the loo for a cry and when i get into bed at night and things are going round and round i will cry myself to sleep. There was a dog on paul o grady last night no sad story or anything and i bawled
  23. school say they dont see any at school but from what the other kids in his class say i think they do mainly the anxiety side ie picking scabs and pulling his teeth. I have also been told by friends that he loses his temper alot at school .I think it will be alot different next year being at a school that allows his behaviors as such being alot more relaxed. For friends and family he is a little angel but then they only see him with me or for a couple of hours on his own. He is a totally different child for us though and at youth group which is sen. My aunt works there and she has seen a totally different j.

    new school

as re this post http://www.asd-forum.org.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=16697 we went up today (me and j) to view the school and he has been accepted we brought the uniform there and then a grand total of 5.50 (he only needs a sweatshirt) and j was really impressed that there would be no more than 9 in a class and the class moves around together so no confusing which class he has next. The year 7 only use one corridor anyway. So now thats done the statement and funding can be released and roll on september
