  1. hi my son was seeing a psycologist to discuss his anger,he was doing well. till she decided to teach him to punch a pillow when he was felling angry. she was talking to him about things that make him angry and he became difficult with her, we never got another appointment after that. teaching a asd child to punch for us was questionable he punched me in the face about a week after that last appointment sigh.......noogsy x
  2. im still brushing my 12 year olds teeth, if i leave him to do it himself he just rinses with mouth wash, no tooth brush....lol..does my head in... noogsyx
  3. well i havent posted for a while but i thought i would give a update, my big son who has had on going problems with alcohol and other issues problems with the law,a total lack of understanding in what is acceptable. he dosent understand money at all so just makes a hash of things all the time. has moved in with his girlfriend, poor girl. to be honest our house is 100% better without him, but he is also going to become a dad in july, crikey just wait till you are all becoming grand parents ohhhhh we are soo tired.... my baby son is doing really well at high school, well supported and happy. they understand asd at his school which makes such a diffrence. my biggest problems are with the big one. our grandmonster is due on july the 21st i pray he/she isnt asd. its how i feel, love noogsy xxx
  4. hi my family have a history with alcoholism, my dad is a registered alcoholic, im carefull with drink, and now my diagnosed son(he is now 27 years old) has decided he has a drink problem,he is a terrible drunk. and has been prescribed disulfiram by his gp. the impact on the family of a drunk is enormous whether we have asd or are normal. my son has a adult diagnosis he also has ocd, add, and is on the spectrum. we have been struggling with him for so long that me and hubby live in fog of stress. i feel for anyone who has kids with behavioural problems and wonder if they all realise kids with behaviour problems can become adults with very, very serious problems. i dont write here so much as i always feel overwhelmed and dont feel i can add anything helpfull. but i read a lot. my son has now stopped drinking and takes medication to make sure he is alcohol free. at least he is trying. i feel strongly that no partner or parents should have to put up with a selfish alcaholic. i have probably already said to much.......love noogsy
  5. my littley is first year at high school and is mainstream but is also cared for by a specialist unit. he is very well looked after and doing really well he came second in first year in his english tests. but isnt doing well at maths. he is asd and adhd. he cant fathom maths but excels at creative writing, science, and IT. so far he is doing well we are in central scotland. love noogsy
  6. hi i would buy for all three kids, it would be a small thing like a chocolate santa, or selection box nothing expensive love noogsy
  7. i just hate the way this word has been used it feels like some one saying spazz or mongal or retard im just so offended in fact when i was watching the news this morning my stomach lurched and i felt sick its just attention seeking language designed to get our attention. well they have it they have our attention noogsy
  8. hi can i just say i do protect my child to and i have realised i have done this same thing with my three sons.but like you i have realised im doing it.and i have had to slap myself .its hard but not imposslibe to change your behaviour.your baby boy is very very bright and has learned to let everyone look after him.ive stopped speaking for louis.i allow him to get a row from the school.i allow him to have comunication problems with others, then we discuss what went wrong...ie what he didnt say that would have helped and it has all become a growing up process for my boys that i was blocking.i think for you the fact you have realised you need to help him change is a HUGE step forward.its all right to make mistakes, its alreight to get things wrong.we just need to learn from the mistakes that is the tricky bit.....good luck with your morph from protective mum to letting go mum. love noogsy
  9. hi,i think this is a asd thing,we go all inclusive holidays during summer(this year to lanzarote)and baby son wont co-operate, he wont do the kids club(not a chance) he dosent eat in the(because of the smell and people eating,he hates seeing people eat, makes him wretch) restraunt prefers the poolside sandwiches, pizza, juice and ice cream. he finds the biggest, cumfyest sofa, usually in reseption.(they kindly kept a eye on him this year very boreing for them as he didnt move a muscle.lol) plonks himself on it and plays his ds, oh and people watches.so he says????? he dosent speak to anyone, he dosent have any intrest in anything.except his ds. taking his technology from him causes major meltdowns. but at least hubby and me can have time to ourselves. and well we kind of feel like we have a holiday. we spend all our time seeing if he has moved???? louis spends his holiday his way louis does what he want during the holidays???? he isnt open to co operation much, thats just the way it is, on the whole the summer is stressful. i think we do end up feeling exhausted, and we end up just wanting a break from them, much as we love them. i do try to organise louiss social callender but frankly it is pointless as he has his own strong ideas about things. i cant even leave him with anyone, just because he plays up. i think its asd. and part of the package. i havent helped at all but at least you know it isnt just you and your child. love noogsy
  10. i just did this it was FUN lol
  11. my louis (aged 12) does this and it drives everyone mad, his latest love is the cartoons. oo e o ah ah ting tang willa willa bing bang oo e o ah ah willa willa willa bang! cam and me bought him headphones because we were going to do my beautiful boy harm, love noogsy
  12. they tried this system here in our area.the only way here to get a appointment was to walk into the surgery and make a appointment. it is a bit much to ask people to scramble for appointments on the day and caused queues while nasty dr secretary was trying to answer the phone... . the system was suggested by the so called practice mananger here. everyone complained in writing and things were changed back to the old way. where it fell flat on its face was if the dr said come back to me in a week to see if this is better we may have to take bloods i used to say to the dr ill come back to see you if i can get a appointment next thursday....dr pulling faces... yes that particular on the day appointment system doesnt work. especially with one phone line. and one lady on the phones. i think you should walk in and tell them what has happend and tell them you need a meds review, and watch the secretary woman sigh....she is bound to be exasperated to. love noogsyxxxx

thanks to lufty and anyone eles who helped me get back on the asd forum <'> . i was starting to feel doomed with my 5671 error. i do appreciate the help. love noogsyxxx
  14. god almighty i think you should see a lawyer,i would. remember to stay very calm with your child. and dont let how upset you are show. he may want to play things down. you should be led by him. my littley who will be 12 in July is going to dalguise in Scotland. its a adventure weekend he is suppose to be supervised. im now wondering what kind of supervision he will get. we have said from the beginning we weren't sure he would cope. and we have been ignored. if you were told your child would be under complete supervision what on earth happened.its inexcusable, your poor baby. we try to keep our kids as safe as we can then we hand them to so called professionals and they completely let him down. im furious for you. thinking about you and yours, love noogsyxxx
  15. aw im so sorry your loosing your pet. we were in the same boat in that my 16 year old black lab died on the 6 of july this year. im still heartbroken.but we told the kids at the begining of the year that he was 100 years old.and that he was going to die soon. so the kids had time to get used to the idea.in the end I WAS THE MOST SHOCKED....lol im going to be pet free for a while because no other dog can fill my babes paws. and im seriously bereaved....i do know how you feel hun....i loved my pet more than any one eles ever....love noogsyxxxxxxxxxx
  16. i buy for my babes school teacher who was a darling this year, i buy for my babes aspergers teacher he has her 8 hours a week, and i buy for his classroom assistant who he has had for 5 years. i usually go to tk max and find somthing for a 5.00 im very particular and this year got them small perfume bottles. they look after my child very well so i make sure i get somthing nice. actually both aspergers teacher and lsa have got two pressis a year from me. cos i buy for them at christmas to.and get them a special card. not that im obsesive or anything i think they know im a looney.....lol everything i buy for people must have a purpose you know be usfull im not a aspie....lol noogsyxx
  17. our little boy does the same thing he rips up news papers, books, wallpaper then he chews the paper to a pulp and spits it up the walls....charming habit.he also chews cables and wires, controlers for the tv and sky box,he also scrapes furniture where he is sitting with his nails and has chewed my coffee table.when left to his own devices he writes on the walls, furniture and books..it is infuriating but he cant help it we have realised it is a sensory thing and we are waiting for him to out grow it...lol..he has pica in that he mouths and chews everything and now keeps getting worms from school.i dont have advice ecept our babe is worse when he is concentrating on somthing or when he is bored.these are both his danger times.but we generally have to have a grown up with him at all times...which isnt easy..love noogsyxxxxxxx
  18. i think the parenting ,food thing is a intresting topic.i have two kids with food issues in that they dont eat enough and i constantly struggle to get them to eat enough i worry and fret.i was diagnosed last year type 2 so i have to be on a carb free diet so my insulin works better im not obese im just unlucky in that i have the type 2 gene my granny had diabetes and a young woman.my hubby is also on a special diet..i have had to take everyone in our homes diet and individually sort us out.and it takes brain power and is tricky but not impossible....these people can be taught to feed there kids appropriately and with support will do so..the most important thing is excercise...some people just dont get that letting our kids become obese is not only poor parenting it is also child abuse.the ss understand that these kids will be having a awful time from there peers because of there size..and it is the parents responibility to sort it out..everything is available from the health visitor and gp...love noogsy
  19. my son is a musher upper,he just ploughs through everything in his room.im for ever putting broken stuff in the bin.he smears, and pulls things apart.i just bin everything he breaks now and i dont replace it unless he works for a new thing....i also have to keep buying new furniture because he breaks everything apart....it is very wearing....love noogsy
  20. hi sweetie, for every minute of every day i felt miserable..... then i found out i was type 2 last may..............i decided to not be a victim. i think mums and dads health starts to fail with the stress........ of looking after these kids.. i have done the parenting courses, went and did a assertiveness course, i did a self defense course... joined a gym(banantynes), and started learning kick boxing. i dropped two stones................... somthing just changed in me. i think we need to decide what we want our lives to be like and make the changes.................love noogsyxxxxxxxxx
  21. hi we get them here in central Scotland through our gp.also our health visitor will also give them.but if you have been refused basically you have to moan...to your dr....what is the saying....shy weans get nowt........so you need to ask and become vocal...and put your determined head on.....lol..love noogsyxxxx
  22. HAPPY EASTER LOVE FROM NOOGSY AND FAMILY
  23. hi we were the same and what i did was i didn't push things with my babe who is ten years old and has been wearing his glasses for a year.my littly is short sighted and we let his glasses do the talking.my babe has to wear his new eyes all the time.he calls them his new eyes......lol......and after a few weeks he got used to them.be prepared to go back and forwards to the opticians for repairs to the glasses.in scotland we are entitled to three pairs a year.i asked for all three to begin with and i got very plain gold frames .to be honest the only problems have been Louis chewing the legs off his glasses and he has also poped the glass out of the glasses...aye we need to be extra patient us asd parents.....good luck pet millions of kids find out they have to wear glasses and im sure he will be ok in the end once he realises he can see better.make sure his teacher understands he is going to be sensitive.i think every single child is different in how they cope but being a calm mum will help..try saying positive things like you will see you nintendo ds better. and you will get a better score...you will win on the wii....or you will be more able for the PlayStation..i say to louis with his new eyes he will be top of the class soon...lol...love noogsy
  24. it is true teachers are not allowed to diagnose. but when my littly was in primary one a very experienced deputy head who was about to retire. said to me that she thought my little boy should see a dr. she suggested he be referred to camhs...for years i would mention it to people that she had led me....lol..and it was met by frowning. it was years later i realised she had helped me and went against the rules....i think because she was retiring that she was past caring what the bosses thought....it is i think ridiculous that the people in the know cant refer kids to specialists. and that they are left in the hands of psychologists, and only when kids start to wreck classrooms and cause problems are the seen my someone else...what about all the wee quiet asd kids....it drives me mad and is wrong... and i think is all about saving money....noogsy steps off her soap box and takes a bow..... love from noogsy
  25. i was called a couple of years ago and i went in to the office which isn't far from my home and explained i had a disabled child.who was in the habit of being sent home from school or sometimes not going to school.i also told them i was so inattentive myself because i had so much going on in my head i didn't think i was suitable and basically i told the truth..and they were lovely and told me not to worry and i didn't have to do it.it happens all the time that people who are carers are called and cant do it.hope i have helped love noogsyx
