As many of you know my mother has been fighting cancer for the last couple of years.

She is now gravely ill and unable to remain at home. We are going home tomorrow to help Dad take her into a Hospice from where we do not expect her to return.

I am unlikely to be round for a while but I look forward to catching up with you all in due course.

My hearfelt thanks to all of you who have sent PM's and their best wishes.

Simon

Hi Simon,

How are you going, coping, I know its a really hard time at the moment. Hope you and your family are in good spirits. A good time to tell your mum how much you love her, and how awesome she is.

I remember my Uncle visiting him in a hospice and I was young I was only 16 I was in denial, I kept thinking they have got it all wrong, he is going to be okay and he is going to come home :( I sat down beside him and looked into his eyes and held his hand, even though I was scared at how ill he was looking, he was drifting in and out on morphine for the pain. He for a moment opened his eyes and he knew it was me, he looked me in the eye and said, your a good kid ...... and a lovely girl ...... I just squeezed his hand as I was speechless. As I walked out of the room there was this huge grand piano and a big window with the view over the surf, all my aunts and mum looking dire, :( then I noticed on the wall a beautiful poem framed, call 'Footprints'

After I read this, it gave me comfort, and I realised my Uncle was not alone. :wub:

Thinking of you

Thanks for all the replies, it really helps at a difficult time like this.

Mum's long struggle against cancer came to an end last night, she passed away shortly after 10 o'clock and is free from pain at last.

The hospice staff were wonderful and made the process much less traumatic than it might have been otherwise.

Oh Simon, I am so sorry I have only just read this thread and I am so sorry for your loss.

You have been a great strength and support to me in the past and you are in my thoughts now at this very sad time.

With love

Dear Simon & Family,

I am truly sorry >:D<<'> :(

Words cant say enough, I read this Psalm 23 at my grandmothers passing. Hope it brings you some comfort like it did for me. Please take care.

Love Jenny xx

Psalm 23

The Lord the Shepherd of His People

The Lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of

righteousness

For His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the

valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they

comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in

the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall

follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the

LORD

Forever.

Love

Even though you knew that the end was coming, nothing prepares you for the shock and the reality of the coming few weeks. Take care of you - we will be thinking of you.

Words do not seem enough.

Love and hugs

Phoebe
